Mistaken Identity
birdingnut comments on Apr 27, 2018:
When I was working as an extra on the movie "Secretariat," the people on the set started yelling to each other that I was a Jackie Kennedy look-alike and rushed to take selfies with me. My denials and protests were ignored, so I went with it, deciding that if their Facebook friends bought it, what did it matter?
Artificial intelligence.
birdingnut comments on Apr 27, 2018:
According to alleged secret government whistle blowers like Corey Goode, David Wilcock, and Simon Parkes, this has already happened...long ago. Early secret advanced government AI technology tried to kill all humans and had to be shut down.

Do You Church?
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
R U kidding? I just thank them and say I don't believe that way anymore. If they push me, I might ask them if their church believes "god" controls everything, so if a child is hit by a car, it's god's will. That would mean there was no need to lock their door, and they can let their kids play on the interstate.

Bill Cosby was found guilty on all counts.
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Dave Chappelle's new Netflix special has a long bit about the Cosby rapes and the shock it was to him that his childhood hero and inspiration would do such a thing. He joked,"At first I thought jealous people were trying to disgrace Doctor Cosby with false testimonies. But after the 23rd woman came forward, I thought, 'Man, I bet he only raped two or three of those women..'"

Studies show that children from small schools and neighborhoods, where they have more chances to shine without much competition, become more successful later in life.
Great responses to my first post.
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
I don't believe in evolution either. I lean more toward Lloyd Pye's "Intervention Theory." And I don't try to explain anything to believers. If they try to argue about god, I nod vaguely and murmur "That's not what I believe," then change the subject before they can argue. If they follow me to continue to argue, I just mumble, ""Um-hum," in a detached manner as though humoring a child, and wander out of the room. This quickly trains people not to discuss religion with me.

birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Hmm...so you lump global climate change in with astrology? And you are saying nobody ever saw a UFO? Wow. I myself saw more than I can count in Haiti and the US in the 1960s and 70s, usually with at least one other witness, but sometimes with an entire crowd. One even followed my husband and my car for about 300 miles, stalling our car at one point from hovering so closely. Except that, unlike in the US, nobody cared. No government rushing in to ridicule and mock anyone who dared say anything.

birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Reportedly, CBD oil and cannabis strains of a CBD/THC ratio of 20:1 work best for treating bipolar symptoms. The father from the United Patients Group for bipolar patients reported his son had great results with cannabis strains that had a CBD:THC ratio of 20:1, but he also said they had even better results with isolated CBD in oil form. Another man claims that CBD oil was so effective he was able to quit his conventional antipsychotic prescription. But the way that THC and CBD interact may also be important. In 2012, a man named Miles Houser wrote to a Harvard professor who was collecting case studies on cannabis, stating that after running the gamut of conventional anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, and antidepressants, high-CBD cannabis had been the only thing that worked for him. In an article for the online magazine Ladybud, marijuana legalization advocate Gradi Jordan wrote that, based on the 36 years she’d used cannabis to treat her bipolar disorder, she felt THC was an essential component to effectively managing severe symptoms. https://psychedelictimes.com/cannabis/when-treating-bipolar-disorder-with-cannabis-research-suggests-the-amount-of-cbd-may-be-key/

birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
Um..for being an agnostic website, people talk about the Bible a lot. Who cares what the Bible says?? It's all nonsense anyway. The Sumerian texts make more sense..they tell of two Sumerian "gods" helping Noah build a submarine and storing animal DNA inside, not real animals.

Hey hey my fellow atheist have a great day in this religious world we live in.

Which 3 famous people, living or dead, would you want at your fantasy dinner party?
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
If I could bring back the dead, would only want to see exinct animals from the past, in their natural habitat as it was before we killed them off. I don't care much about seeing people. Or formal dinner parties, although there are few jolly friends I'd like to see at a Thai food feast.
Netflix Anyone want to watch with me?
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
I like to watch Netflix in the evening, but TV tastes differ so much it's hard to see how people could watch together unless programs were pre-approved by all. Tonight, "The Alienist" seemed too dark, so watched "The Letdown," but that became too annoying, so I began watching Tallulah.
Are you a skeptic?
birdingnut comments on Apr 26, 2018:
I accept most stuff at face value for now, but will take a harder look if things don't seem to add up. If I stopped to question and argue over everything, I'd never make it through a day. For instance, a couple of days ago, my large, fancy juicer stopped working and I thought I'd have to take a trip to Hat Yai to get it repaired. But this morning, one of the apartment building Thai staff told me the name of a repair shop downtown Songkhla, the same city where I live. So I took a songtheaw (converted pickup truck bus) to the repair shop, but they told me it was the shop across the street. So I lugged the heavy juicer in the rain to the next shop and they just sent me to one further downtown, so I had to catch another songtheaw. When I arrived at the next shop, they sent me to yet another place. But FINALLY, that was the right repair shop. They didn't know what the juicer was, but finally accepted it for repair. I know that's the way it goes when trying to find someplace in Thailand, since nobody has land line phones and businesses don't advertise. You have to know the names of the shops and their locations. So, I was skeptical, but had to start somewhere and trust someone.
For those who dropped theism...

birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:

Best opening lines?
birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
Of course. Women want to be appreciated for who they are. Most cis hetero men are attracted by appearance, so many only check out the photos-instead of reading the profiles- for the youngest, prettiest female they can find, and their goal is sex, not to "get to know" her likes, interests, etc.
Does anyone out there love to get together with other musicians on a porch over a river to jam?
birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
They do that in eastern Kentucky, where I lived for 27 years on my grandfather's farm. I used to jam with friends at my house, but since I usually played electric base or piano, we did it inside.
I think there are a lot more non-believers than admit to it.
birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
Yep. When I attended a United Methodist church in Morehead, KY, people in Sunday school were being taught that the Bible was mostly an allegory, and the Ten Commandments were just good citizen suggestions. YET they were still preaching that god controlled everything, so every death or accident has a Divine reason for it. Just that inspired me to ditch the church.
This site looks interesting so far.

birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
You can take cannabis in more ways than smoking, which doesn't give people enough THC to cure cancer- it takes cannabis oil. Or you can take CBD oil, which also calms people, raises their moods and is legal most places. It also cures seizures and other problems.

birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
Don't worry about them. Who cares what they believe? Whenever someone brings up religion, just shrug and remark that's not how you believe now. Then immediately change the subject before they can argue. If they try to follow you to argue, just act distracted and vague, murmur "um-hum" vaguely as though humoring a young child, then wander out of the room. Only engage with them when they don't talk about religion. It should soon train them to leave the subject alone.

How can I overcome my introvert?
birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
I think you'd find your conversation will flow freely if people of comparable intelligence are discussing something with you that you are passionate about. Also be aware that beautiful women can make many males tongue-tied. Before I learned to take derris scandens-which eliminates gender dysphoria and blends my gender sides- I was gender; fluid-switching back forth between male and female perspectives. When I was in male mode, a pretty woman could make my feet feel so huge I could barely walk, and make my tongue seem to swell and freeze so I could barely say anything. My only hope was to force myself back into female mode, or pretend the girl was male.

Hello all, I'm quite new here, but am going through some really awful experiences with my family ...
birdingnut comments on Apr 25, 2018:
No need to explain anything. Just be self-contained and vague. If someone starts getting religious just calmly state, "I don't believe that way." And keep repeating it like a parrot each time they say something religious to you. Also, ignore them every time they bring it up. Act indifferent, get busy elsewhere, leave the room to do something somewhere else, mumble "Um-hum," in a distracted manner as though humoring a young child. Don't ever pay attention to them or even look at them unless they are behaving in a positive manner, then smile and interact normally with them. This behaviorist method trained my parents to stop attacking my children and me within three visits.

If you carry the baby against your body in a snuggly..on your belly if newborn, on your back if a few months old while you go about your daily household chores, it puts babies right to sleep and keeps them calm for hours after you put them back down again. If the baby is crying and suffering from teething pains, a few grains of powdered catnip will stop the pain and put them to sleep almost instantly. Works for adults, also.

Does anyone have any experience with straw bale gardening?
birdingnut comments on Apr 24, 2018:
That's what I used to do, and it works spectacularly. Better to use straw bales, though, to prevent grass seed getting in your garden soil. I used to get a few bales, break them open, and spread them over the ground several inches thick, two weeks or so before planting. That gives the straw underneath time to rot into a sort of green slime. Then all I have to do to plant seeds is poke them into the soft slime, and pull the dry straw on top around the sprouts, as they start to grow. Add more dry straw on top as the plants get taller. This traps moisture so you don't have to water the garden, and discourages both hungry insects and animals, since they hate to cross the layer of dry straw. So, it's a "no work" garden. You don't need to water it, or weed it, no pesticides, or fences needed, and when you harvest it, the plants often just keep on producing until the frost.
