Have you ever looked back on something did and wondered how you survived?
birdingnut comments on Mar 31, 2018:
I was once driving on the interstate with my kids, and suddenly saw that the two 18-wheeler trucks in front of me were going to cut me off and get me killed. But it was as though I was somebody else..somebody confident, amused, fearless. I stood on the accelerator and shot through a tiny opening between the swerving, speeding trucks, and saved our lives. But thinking back I knew if I'd miscalculated at all, we'd all be dead instead.
What weird food combinations do you enjoy?

In Haiti, my American mom used to make desserts by slicing a banana lengthwise, then spreading both halves with hot pepper peanut butter. VERY delicious.

Ever done things to please others?
birdingnut comments on Mar 31, 2018:
I only agreed to date my ex if he promised to NEVER ask me to marry him, and he promised. But two years later he proposed anyway, and because, by then, he was considered a dear friend, I couldn't hurt his feelings and turn him down. I was furious though and yelled at him, reminding him of his promise, but he just said he'd changed his mind. So I married him, and sure enough, he was a total jerk. But that's mostly because I lacked female boundaries-missing the outrage needed to keep him in line. A real female would have let him know what was acceptable behavior, then tossed him out the door if he tried to pull something shady. Instead, male-like, I kept finding excuses to do nothing, out of sheer laziness.
If I had it all to do again, I doubt very much I would meet my husband.
birdingnut comments on Mar 31, 2018:
I don't think I'd be with anyone I was with before, if I knew the future with them, which is why I never would want to do it all over again. I just wouldn't be with anyone and my life would be completely different..I would miss my entire life.
Should women still act like women and men like men?
birdingnut comments on Mar 31, 2018:
The instinct to pursue females is a male trait but many men, especially high IQ creative types, are androgyne, so have a weak predatory instinct. Mine is usually stronger than theirs since I'm highly male-ish. I have to make myself let men court me, but when I'm in male mode, I don't waste time..just head straight for my goal if it's a woman. But because I'm demisexual, I don't have any lust, so it's pointless in a way. My hope is that if I'm with a woman love interest long enough the demisexual attraction will kick in for them, the same as it does for men.

How do you handle prayer at work?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
The magical stories could be true..it's just that THEY are the ones doing the miracles. When I was growing up I did most of the stuff talked about in the Bible, but didn't see it as unusual, or even religious. It was just the way it was. So did my friends, and my kids. We used ESP for routine communication, had things happen the way we decided, because that's how the universe works. Nothing to do with religion. Of course you can say I'm wrong all day, but it still happened.

birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:

Atheist Observances, holiday/holy day, celebrations?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Good grief-there are enough holidays already. I dislike celebrating the religious US holidays we already have, and mostly I dislike that US holidays involve eating huge quantities of food. Why? I hate fixing food I never eat, for people, waiting on them, cleaning up after them, entertaining them. In Thailand, I can attend constant festivals and just buy what I want from street vendors, without having to entertain anyone.

Does anyone do any gardening this summer? what all do you plant? I love having a garden!
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Not in Thailand, but I did in Kentucky. I used to grow food for our personal use..organic soybeans, green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots, watermelons, okra, broccoli, pototoes, zuccini, pumpkins, cauliflower, green peas, herbs and spices, asparagus, sweet corn, garlic, sunflowers, and had a strawberry bed. I'd break open bales of straw and cover the garden with at least 3 inches of straw a few weeks before planting, so that it was a slimy green mess by the time it was ready to plant. Then all I had to to was poke my finger into the moist goo to plant the seeds, then pull the straw around close to the sprouts.. No weeds could grow, so no need to weed the garden, plus the layer of straw scared the deer and other wild garden thieves, and also seemed to discourage damaging insects as well. Of course, NO PESTICIDES. Ever. No need to water the garden since the rotting straw soaked rain water like a sponge and kept everything moist, even in drought.

We had a tall bookcase in Haiti, with several sets of encyclopedias that I used to read as though they were books. I especially loved the 19th century set that belonged to my grandparents..it showed girls how to ride sidesaddle. The science section showed a picture of a "spaceship" "hurtling through space at a mile a minute!" that looked like the Wright brother's version, with sail-like wings, open decks like a ship and couples strolling around on deck (IN SPACE) in their long, poofy dresses, and men in top hats. I LOVED it..

Are most modern spiritual movements a net positive?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
NO. Not all things spiritual are "religious" any more than doing meditation is being religious. I think many atheists I've encountered on this website are knee-jerk reacting to their former beliefs by tossing out everything, even valid things, denying we are really made of energy. They don't seem to realize that time and space don't actually exist, except in our minds.

Of course I delete the friend requests from foreign men I don't know..they are just after a green card. Creeps. I only accept friend requests if we have several mutual friends and when I check their Facebook page it has fun posts that I like. If they are full of Trump praises or anything boring, religious, or conservative, I pass. Or I might accept, but warn them I'm liberal by private message.
Thoughts on the genetic/biological basis of intelligence?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Dunno. Science says that children are born geniuses, but their particular cultures soon start to stamp out all patterns of thought that conflict with the approved mainstream ideas. If you nurse and home school your kids, read to them from birth, teach them how to think, not WHAT to think, you are going to help them think more critically, for sure.

I'm a Blade Runner nut.
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
I totally resent the Blade Runner movie, since, from then on, all dystopian movies are dark as though at night, with trashed buildings, people preying on and killing each other, cyborgs who kill humans, etc. It's such a dreary sameness to every sci-fi futuristic movie that I now yell at the lastest sci-fi shows on Netflix, "STOP COPYING BLADE RUNNER you imagination-deprived nut cases. The sun DOES shine sometimes, even in the future, for heaven's sake!"

Any really good April Fools jokes in your history?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
April Fool's Day. In Haiti, the usual way to do "poisson d'avril" (April Fool's Day) is to "voyer" (send) people on fake errands. One kid, Derelise, sent a friend almost all the way to Cap Haitian to see someone who supposedly wanted to see him. When the guy returned on his bike, smiling sheepishly, he admitted that he'd already sent his own cousin to another town on a fake pretext, so should have known better.

What does the future hold?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Secret government whistle blowers have been saying since WW ll that the US government has had advanced alien technology, back-engineered from crashed craft. It you watched the documentary "Unacknowledged" on Netlflix or YouTube, you'd have seen videos of presidents like Obama, Bill Clinton, world leaders, NSA officials, and astronauts strongly implying or outright saying the same thing, and that the government keeps everything classified to avoid having the share the technology. Of course, the naysayers will soon appear, yelling "fake news"-no different than the alt-right who say the same about anything they haven't personally seen.
Have you ever had a dream or dream fragment that turned out to be a real memory?
birdingnut comments on Mar 30, 2018:
Not dreams, but actual memories of things that happened when I was in the womb, at birth, etc that I confirmed with my parents. I also had many memories of past lives, which I found to be true when I googled some of the incidents I remembered. My sister also remembers past lives and could also remember what happened when she was still in the womb. But the naysayers will probably soon show up. It's weird how, on this forum, so many "atheists" seem to think the only thing that exists is what they've personally experienced, and everything else is "fake news." I'm starting to get disillusioned with this website.
Sexual Compatibility
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Well, after finally having a partner who matched me sexually..mild S&M, gender role switching, fantasy games, dominating and being dominated, costumes, constant play for hours almost daily, I have zero wish to have cis hetero "rabbit sex"-quick as possible, with orgasm as the goal. SO boring I'd rather be single or live platonically. But I'd like a dance and hiking partner, and since I'm demisexual I can take sex or leave it.
What is your quest? What is your favorite color? What is your next goal in life?

birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
I was born and grew up in Haiti, of American parents. I lived in the US until 2001 when I taught in Mexico for one semester, then I moved to Thailand in 2010 to teach. I've lived in several places across Thailand, currently living near the beach an hour from the Malasia border. Countries I've visited: Australia, Tasmanai, Japan, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Haiti, Mexico, Canada, all the Bahama islands, Jamaica, random little islands near Haiti. I wish I could move to Sydney, since I loved it there, but otherwise, southern Thailand is a tropical paradise.
I’m sitting in the car (waiting for a friend) and reading The Portable Atheist.
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
I doubt I'll read it since I never used arguments to stop believing..just reading the Sumerian texts and realizing that much of the Bible was a poor copy of their stories. I was relieved, since I'd always felt weird about worshiping some god who commanded people be stoned for picking up sticks on Saturday, told the army to slaughter every person and animal in tribes that didn't submit to Moses and/or Joshua. To add insult to injury, WE were told "love others as we love ourselves." Oh, brother.

Sexuality Lables
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
What do you mean by "sexuality?" There are many meanings- 1.your gender identity-what gender you feel you are, whether or not it matches your birth gender. 2.your sexual orientation, meaning which gender sexually attracts you, if any, depending on your own gender. For instance, you'd be considered heterosexual if you were a man married to a woman, but if you transitioned to female and had the operations, yet stayed married to your wife, you'd then be considered a lesbian. 3.your gender presentation-how you dress and present yourself. For instance, if you are a bio woman but dress androgynously. In any case, I am a bio female, I'm panromantic..I can fall in love with any gender, and I'm demisexual-I have no sexual attraction for any person or gender unless I've been with someone over a year. I am androgynous in presentation, and don't strongly identity with either gender, so I'm nonbinary. I am a partial transmale..meaning that part of me-about 60%- identifies as male.

Why are men so afraid of meeting face to face on online dating?
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
The Rules for Online Dating book advises women to dump or ignore anyone who messages more than five times without setting a place and time to meet. It might be different for this website, since few members are likely to live near each other, but still, have a time table for action, and if they don't meet it, move on.
What's the strangest experience you've had? Or the strangest thing you've seen?
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
I have had many teleporation experiences but only a few times when I was aware it was happening. Several times, my husband and I started out on four-hour trips to another state, and a few minutes after getting on the interstate, we'd see the exit sign for the town where we were going. We'd just shrug and consider it a bonus. Once, a pickup truck with monster wheels lost control on a narrow, creek-side road and came right at me so I was looking up into their grill..but suddenly I was behind the truck, stopped. The guys jumped out of the pickup truck, faces white, and asked me what happened. A woman ran out of the farmhouse next to the road, also asking me what happened. Their eyes were all bugging out and I realized I'd somehow passed through the truck. Another friend, and my brother-in-law reported similar expericences. Before my daughter and I had working speedometers in our cars, we used to get to Louisville in 20 minutes and to Cincinnati in 40 minutes. We were both annoyed after we got better cars that the Louisville and Cincinnati trips each took several hours.

What's the biggest benefit to dating you?
birdingnut comments on Mar 29, 2018:
I dunno, since I mostly just want a pal for hiking, ballroom dancing, political discussions, etc. and eat only health food. But with the right person and the right amount of time spent together (over a year), I have a kinky libido stronger than that of most men, am very physcially active, fearless, love to travel, can build things, can speak five languages, am a musician, can train horses, love to do foot rubs, snuggle, can give back rubs and do fanatasy and play costume games..but the last ones are ONLY with a bonded romantic partner of over a year, however.

Great to have a new set of totally comfortable, adjustable boy shorts, of my own design, that I custom made myself. They never bunch, ride up, or bind me when I move, and are so light and breathable, they constantly startle me when I'm out walking, because I can't tell I'm wearing them.

What do you do if he just wants to be friends?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Be sure to ask him, first, of his intentions. If he says he only wants to stay friend, but you want more, then cut things off and move on to date men with more in mind. A friends relationship would be my ideal, actually, since I date men purely for the friendship, to acquire a male pal for hiking, discussing politics, ballroom dancing, traveling, having adventures, etc., and only agree to a romantic or sexual element after over a year together, when sexual attraction finally kicks in (I'm demisexual).

Last time it was on Netflix, I watched it several times in a row, and when I was in the US in the 1980s, I had the video and we all used to watch it constantly, falling down laughing.
What is something your parents told you as a kid that you realized later it was an outright lie?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Do you mean they knew they were lying, or just told me something they believed was true? I don't know of any deliberate lies, except maybe when my mom pretended to pay attention to me when I was talking, while she was busy typing.
I am currently teaching myself web development and German (one is going better than the other.
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I'm guessing that your web development is going better. Almost everything I know now, I taught myself. I taught myself Creole, French, Spanish, Thai and Japanese, how to do bird photography and sell photos on stock photo sites. I taught myself to ride, jump, drive, and train horses-even stallions. I taught myself to jam on piano in any key, play electric base, and skin drums, record eight-track original songs. I taught myself to become an advanced ballroom and jitterbug dancer. I taught myself how to read Thai. I taught myself to speed-read, teach ESL in person and online to track animals with signs, scents, tracks. and really almost everything in my life that I can do now. I like to teach English literature and ESL.
What say you??

Which one.."the" world or "my" world? For the world, money, which brings power and sex, makes the world go around. For me, nature and wildlife, books.
How would you like to identify yourself
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I still believe in a Higher Self, Source energy, reincarnation, etc. I just don't think the Biblical Hebrew "god" exists, since the god is apparently copied from "Anu," the leader of the Sumerians, as written about in the Sumerian texts.
Have you ever entered an eating contest?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
No. I eat small amounts, very slowly. But I would willingly enter a monthong durian eating contest, eat one, then take the pile of uneaten durian home with me! Pic is of me eating monthong durian on Penang Island, Malaysia.
Are you a jealous person ?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Sadly, no. I'm so male in traits, I'm more like a cis hetero guy in that respect, who are often known to share lovers, so lack the female outrage needed to kick cheaters to the curb. This is a bad trait for a female, since it leaves her at risk from badly behaving spouses, who then feel free to act out.
Can a guy have a female best friend and sex never enter the frame?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Not if she's attractive. Plenty of asexual, demisexual or androgyne men could do it, but for most normal cis, hetero males, his predator reaction triggers, and he'll spend his time trying to make her laugh, or impress her.
Too honest.
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
True. This is the first dating forum I've been on in years, and the first one when I was aware of my gender variables..i.e. my being being partially transmale, androgyne, demisexual, etc. For that reason, I now don't know my sexual orientation. Before, cis hetero is what I thought I was, and all I dated. Now, I don't know who to like, or the rules. Being demisexual, I can't depend on sexual attraction to give me cues.
A couple more books.

I don't drink, but thanks anyway, and have a good time!
Would you date a woman that had sex on the first date?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I wouldn't want to sleep with anyone on a first, second, third, etc. date, unless we were exclusive first, and I wouldn't date someone who would sleep with anyone on a first date. They are either desperate, or sleep around so much they could be std-ridden. Eew.
