How prevalent is pseudo-medicine?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
Wow..you actually trust Western toxic-synthetic-patent money drug culture doctors? When they get kick backs for writing presciptions for dangerous medicines? Johns Hopkins study suggests medical errors are third-leading cause of death in U.S. http://bit.ly/2jvDNfM via @HubJHU There is some bad advice online, as always, but you can always google around for other stories. Don't forget..while western doctors continue to kill 50% of patients treated for cancer with chemo and radiation, people have been curing cancer since the 1970s with "illegal" natural substances like cannabis oil. They only made cannabis illegal once Rockefeller acuired both the medical schools and pharmacies, and outlawed natural healing to promote his dangerous drugs.

Would you date a person with a speach impediment?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I dunno. I wouldn't date most people. No very tall or short people, no foreigners, no other races (except maybe Native American, since they honor women as equals), people who eat meat or junk food, people who don't exercise, aren't fit, don't read, who golf, fish, hunt, or play video games who watch NASCAR, or even knows what it is who listen to country or Gospel music who attend church, except maybe Lutheran or Unitarian who aren't concerned about conservation of the environment and living a green lifesyle
If you are married, or were married, how did you or your S.O. propose? Where did it happen?
birdingnut comments on Mar 28, 2018:
I don't remember. I just remember threatening him and telling him to never ask me to marry him, but he must have anyway. I knew I had weak boundaries and tended to see men as pals, so couldn't turn down a "bro."

You're on a long flight next to a believer who wants to talk deeply about their faith/proselytize.
birdingnut comments on Mar 27, 2018:
It would depend on the circumstances. If we accidentally got on the subject and the person began preaching, I'd probably just act bored, nod distractedly, yawn, then say something about I'm going to take a nap now. Then I'd stop interacting with them, and ignore them if they start up later. If I only react positively when they leave me alone, or stick to normal conversation, and ignore them when they preach, it trains them to do what I want.

birdingnut comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I avoid eating at restaurants since they tend to add chemicals like MSG, to the food, make you tip the waiter instead of paying him a living wage, and I have no idea what's really organic or not. Whole Foods used to have an organic food bar where you paid by the ounce.

birdingnut comments on Mar 27, 2018:
In my case, most certainly I'd discuss things before we go very far at all. Straight, cis hetero "rabbit sex" is boring to me, and my taste runs more toward gender role switching, costumes, mild S&M, role playing, fantasy games, but that was only with my ex. Being demisexual, I usually feel zero sexual attraction to anyone with whom I've not bonded for over a year, but I'd still let prospective love interests know, so they can move along and find a woman who appreciates twenty second wonders.
Can you have too many books?
birdingnut comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I don't just read all my books- I read them repeatedly. I had too many hard copies in my Kentucky home, so when I moved to Thailand, I donated the best illustrated nature books to my home-schooling-mom niece, and the rest to the local library. Now my Kindle app storage is getting crowded, and some are books I don't read that often, or had enough the first time. The best thing would be to own a Kindle reader so I don't have to pay for new books, but can just "borrow" them.

But this has nothing to do with "superstition."

birdingnut comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Old, fat, ugly Caucasian foreign men come to Thailand all the time to get pretty young women for wives or girlfriends, and to live with them on their family land for free. They don't realize that even flirting a lot with a Thai girl is like proposing to her, indicating that they are taking financial responsibility for both the girl and all her relatives for the rest of their lives. Furthermore, they can't legally buy or own land or property in Thailand except under the name of a Thai person. If an expat man takes a Thai girlfriend or wife, then tries to jump to another girl, as he is accustomed to do in his home country, he will quickly find out that it's not allowed here. The girl could unexpected attack him with a knife, and her vast network of relatives could make him lose his job, maybe his visa, have to move away. If he has had children with the girl already, she will likely prevent him from seeing them unless the expat man forks over all his money every month.

"holiday dinners"
birdingnut comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Just think about the food, and the chance to peruse the books and magazines you've not yet read in their bookcases, as I do. But to help your nerves; CBD oil, 5-htp, magnesium capsules, a few drops of iodine in some water, a nibble of certain edibles, an early morning walk, a small amount of fish..these help people become calm and upbeat. Beyond that, you can edit what people say in your mind. For instance, the word "god" can become "the universe," my "higher self," "universal consciousness," etc. and the word "prayer" can become "meditation," or "positive thoughts." If someone gives a lengthy prayer you can meditate, using the drone of the prayer to help get your mind blank, or daydream about your goals. When people ask nosy questions, you can answer, "Why do you ask? " and change the subject.

birdingnut comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Very. A person's ethnic background usually shapes that person's beliefs and treatment of others. I only date educated, fit, American Caucasians of my social status, who see women as equal with men, for instance. Most non-upperclass whites and races see women as second class citizens, as part of their culture. There are always exceptions, but not something I want to chance. In my experience, most people of other races, nationalities, and ethnicities consider dating an American Causian a status upgrade, and often a way to get a green card. I have to delete non-native would-be lovers from my Facebook constantly.

birdingnut comments on Mar 25, 2018:
I briefly dated someone a number of years younger than I was, who was also ridiculously good looking. I got tired of women hitting on him wherever we went..throwing themselves at him at church functions, at movie rental desks, etc. He just looked bewildered and didn't react to them, but when my daughter (ten at the time) and her friends got in the act, I decided it was time to break up.

birdingnut comments on Mar 25, 2018:
Yikes. Southern black identity and sense of community is often associated with church affiliations, maybe even more than with southern whites and their own churches. I have liberal black friends who barely believe in god, yet still attend church because that's where their family and friends are. They complain about church religious stuff, but don't want to disappoint people.

Hmm..the worse problem is when a woman who is heavy in male traits, acts like a male and becomes besotted with her partner, allowing him to misbehave and disrespect her, making excuses for him. Normally, cis, hetero women will toss a misbehaving man's stuff onto the lawn, change the lock, and move on. If a male-ish woman clings to a relationship, overlooking bad behavior, she is putting herself in danger.

Do you believe Atheism is a religion?
birdingnut comments on Mar 24, 2018:
It's more a religion than being an agnostic, since, like religion, you are claiming something to be NOT true without a way to prove it either way. Yet evidence to the contrary does exist. You are taking it by faith that nothing supernatural exists-despite Einstein proving that everythng is made of energy and that energy is never destroyed and can't be created, so we must have always existed and will always exist in some energy form. So much for "nothing exists after death" theories. You also mostly believe there is no reincarnation (despite piles of documentation to the contrary) and all the quantum phsycis evidence that something must be imagined first to exist. You are ignoring the fact that people can now work computers and manipulate prosthetic limbs with their minds, thus disproving the "ESP is bunk" mantra. To me, many atheists are as ignorant as most religious people since they are as ready to yell "fake news" at anything they haven't personally heard of. In fact, I've been disappointed often since joining here, and already wondering if I should find somewhere else to hang.

The subtext of texting....
birdingnut comments on Mar 24, 2018:
I don't "text" as such, but use Facebook messenger on my laptop so I can use a full-sized keyboard. I prefer using this over phone calls or Skyping. I find face to face encounters draining since there is so much protocol required..correct facial expressions, being well-groomed, responding to body language, etc. My daughter keeps trying to "talk" to me with the voice messenger, but I try to decline. When she's on voice or video feed, she is often rude, ignores me while talking to her boyfriend or looking at her phone to laugh about other messages, etc. Plus I'm often forced to see her in bed with her boyfriend and watch him snoring (gross) and see her many bored signals, as though she were doing me a favor. I prefer to just message..say what we're going to say, move on. But if she actually is in a chatty mood, such as when she's not getting along with her boyfriend, she is more fun to chat with on the voice messenger.

Only just getting the time, let alone remembering to, go through my groups and post and say hi.

Before I knew what I was, I used to wish I was pansexual, since I believed that would double my chances of finding someone. I now think I might be pansexual, except that being demisexual masks it. With no initial sexual attraction for anyone, or any gender, it's difficult to tell who would attract me if someone were to outlast my one year bonding requirement. I'm panromantic, though, although without any lust. Still, being demisexual releases me from the sexual pressure most normal people seem to feel to couple up with someone as quickly as possible, despite the risks. I can have a plan B; If I don't find an ideal male mate I am also attracted to women.
Smashed my finger in a door today.

I'm surprised teachers stay at their jobs at all, with the low pay and lack of respect for their work.
Would you try to overcome a categorical refusal?

Why? Wanting to date a religious person makes no sense.
