I'm surprised you said that. But first, those in power can come out with dreadful nonsense and be applauded for it. That was the content of my post. Your comment is different, criticising the equation of white people with the lack of ability to understand. Nonetheless, common sense tells us that if we live in a certain comfortable bubble, it will be very difficult to understand the concerns of people living living outside that bubble. If common sense doesn't tell us, I think the course of history does.

@Snickers77 I wonder is that a return to evolution instead of civilisation. That must be a big question because civilisation is suspect in terms of social responsibility and evolution can include reciprocity. brentan replies on Oct 17, 2018:
It's called Unsheltered. Here's a little excerpt from the article: Kingsolver explores this through the stories of two families living in the same dilapidated house in two periods – the present and the 1870s – when people are grappling with a loss of control over their destiny. “We had just had this terrible civil war, the country was as polarised as it is now. There was a shortage of generosity, a shortage of everything really. And into this walks Darwin suggesting that even the solid truth of human supremacy is up for debate.” Did she seek out a comparable historical moment to give some hope that upheaval like this is cyclical? “There are many ways in which the crisis of this moment is far beyond anything humans have had to figure out before: we’ve wrecked the planet good and well. This is not the fall of the Roman empire, this is a larger scale.”

brentan replies on Oct 5, 2018:
@PolyWolf There is something about the status of victimhood that puts those who fight against oppression in a vulnerable position. My guess is it comes from the perception of winners and losers in society. Perhaps it is rooted in the evolutionary process. If this is true, this would place the ‘hysterical’ women fighting for their rights and white men fighting for theirs in the very same position. The very act of fighting back is viewed as the loser attempting to better his/her situation despite being a loser in evolutionary terms. This would be interpreted as a denial of the person’s natural inferiority that needs to be confronted by the dominant hierarchy.
Question.

@genessa We’ve come around again to what words mean and the difference between dictionary definitions and our own interpretations. If I hold to dictionary definitions and they disagree with your interpretation, we have no common basis for discussion. @genessa If you know what malaise is, there is no excuse for not understanding spiritual malaise. You might claim that it isn’t an issue or doesn’t exist but you will know what the term means. If you look up spirituality in the dictionary, you won’t find ‘religion light’. The closest you might get is an approach to religion but that won’t necessarily be categorised as light. I never concluded you were ignorant. I do think you are letting your anger at religion dictate meanings to you.

That's a solid point, if I understand you correctly. Evolution, which lots of Christian people believe in, rules out Adam. If there's no Adam, there's no need for a propitiatory sacrifice. Jesus would be dying to undo the original sin of an ape.

Thank you for posting this. Similar to the art in places like Nazca in Peru which is only visible from the air. This of course was seen as "proof " alien visitors especially by the likes of Erik Von Daniken. No doubt the latest find will give rise to more of the same.

@kmdskit3 What you call whataboutism is a direct response to the idea that (cis) men in general, and men only, are guilty of this wrongdoing. So it was a pertinent comment.

The post was not written to justify anything, rather to try to understand it. That interpretation was misapplied by the other person. The comment about women's maltreatment of women is a historical truth and not a myth. The fact that men ruled societies in no way excuses the unjust behaviour of women.

I guess a narrow, simplified version of history is more suitable to the SJW mentality along with virtue-signallers. SJW beliefs seem to trump facts and always create a fascist response to attempts to understand our society in an objective way. Flag-waving, mansplaining, judgemental and condemnatory statements like those posted above just seem to imply a neurotic personality unable to handle a different opinion.
