Some historians refuse to call it The Great Famine and call it The Great Hunger instead. They claim there was plenty of food in Ireland but it was being shipped out to feed the people in England. Ireland was referred to as 'the breadbasket of the British Empire'. https://bairishstudies.wordpress.com/2016/01/12/175/

brentan comments on Mar 17, 2019:
Some Christians have seriously lost their way. They don't understand their own scriptures anymore, such as 'my (Christ's) kingdom is no part of this world', 'be in the world but no part of it' and 'be in subjection to the secular authorities'. They have a gospel that frees them from political concerns and allows them to grow their own spirituality as they wait on their Messiah to return and bring in his new kingdom. I think this wish to do Christ's work for him would be called presumptuousness in the Bible.

Eckart Tolle did a great job of promoting The Power Of Now in the eponymous book. Science is coming on board nowadays with Jill Bolte-Talylor's My Stroke Of Insight, Iain McGilchrest's The Master And His Emissary and Roderick Tweedy's The God Of The Left Hemisphere, which all deal with the idea of the right hemisphere of the brain attending to the now and the left hemisphere to analysis and comparison of the past and future to the now.
