'gee' pronounced with a hard 'g' was a very common word for vagina when I was young. If I remember right, the French equivalent was trou, which basically meant hole and was how female captives were categorised. While it's accepted that these are fertility symbols, it's really curious how they ended up on Christian buildings and give them a Gothic look. One explanation is artistic license, deviously taking a shot at the large imposition of churches and cathedrals.

brentan comments on Feb 18, 2019:
I'm not so chirpy about these liberal churches. If you are a female member of the church, sure it matters and it is a good thing. But these churches muddy the waters on religion when they abandon the basic scriptural instructions not to murder. and to love others as themselves. I don't think it will help these churches to survive the liberal world. I think they'll implode under their own contradictions.

This is how dictionary.com defines intersubjective. For some reason, it didn't recognise intersubjectivity: adjective Philosophy. comprehensible to, relating to, or used by a number of persons, as a concept or language. My guess is the definintions of good and bad things are intersubjective and that might be as close as we can get to objectivity.

Even though I'm familiar with the Biblical idea that 'in the increase in knowledge there is an increase in pain', I think stupid people also pay a price for their condition. The idea was rammed home to me recently when a soap opera on TV was running and I was in no position to turn it off. I had experienced this neverending drama in real life and the 'actors' do pay a price for their participation.

I wonder what spirits they might be. Theoretically, they are not the evil spirits of Christianity. They reside in the air. I think they are pre-Christian evil spirits. I'm biased toward Anglo-Saxon monsters because I've just read Beowulf. But the beliefs of the people don't fit neatly into historical divisions and these fears may well belong to people living well into the Christian era.

It was such a strange feeling to be sexually abused as a child. The initial response was bafflement. It took time to rationalise what happened. That wasn't easy in the 1960s and 70s when the whole society was in denial about it. I'm so pleased that it has all come into public knowledge. I can't imagine how many people lost their lives because they couldn't live with themselves as partakers of homosexual sex. Then there were the people whose quality of life was so bad that they were walking dead. I think the perpetrators had no idea that they were ruining lives when they did what they did. If they did, they must have had an outlook on life that was satanic.

I was always intrigued by the difference between the secular view that if enough people didn't like a person, it meant that person was an asshole, but the spiritual view was that if people didn't like a person, it was because that person was on the right road and the others weren't. But how to come to any definite conclusion in a society of people who are all different levels of idiosyncracies, emotional baggage etc? If I were to use this forum as a guide to getting on with people, I think getting on is a matter of similar opinion,s and an extra level of getting on is to forge further agreements that certain people are anathema. It might be fair to say that in this regard, we still operate on the level of primitive tribes.
