I was raised Episcopal and went to church often when I was young. As I grew older and became more skeptical, I searched for real evidence of a god that watched over us and gave a crap how humanity was getting along. Two years ago, I watched a news report that featured a Syrian toddler lying on a beach, drowned in the sea while trying to escape that terrible mess. At that instant, I became an agnostic. God does not exist for us to depend on. That became so obvious to me at that moment, after I finished weeping over that sad sight, I have given up on any vestiges of religion that were still clinging to my gray matter. I am now free to think about life as we make it, not as a system made by a CREATOR, but as an often enjoyable, yet frequently a terrible place to inhabit
