Have You Ever Wanted To Have Sex With a FB Friend?

Plagiarism.
chilehead9 comments on Sep 3, 2018:
I was accused of this once. An article I had written was deemed by someone to be plagiarizing a book they were familiar with, that I had never read. It turned out that one of my sources used that book as one of their sources, and my paraphrasing of their paraphrasing made it more like the form in that book.

Would the kiss be a good indicator of chemistry if there isn't any prior interaction? I'm thinking "it's not magic - seeing if there's a spark depends on more than just a quick physical act. Otherwise we could just line up a hundred men and women, have them go down the line kissing folks until they felt the spark and left with that person. Dating sites would disappear.

You'd think that with more countries and companies wanting to get satellites up there, the marketplace would be able to support more launch facilities. But we have United Launch Alliance, SpaceX, and ESA doing their stuff, China and India handling their own launches, and that's even before Blue Origin gets their New Glenn operational or Virgin Galactic starts taking their own passengers up. I guess that Russia isn't as good with their finances as they thought they were - we've been buying launches from them for the ISS resupply missions, up until SpaceX started taking over. Perhaps they were depending on selling more launches than they got? https://www.blueorigin.com/new-glenn https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/virgin-galactic-space-test-flight/index.html
Do you think it's possible to have chemistry from just tl talking on the phone and texting?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 31, 2018:
You can certainly get a good start, but there's always a chance that something about them will kill the chemistry outright once you finally meet them in person. Then again, if you push through that first in-person meeting, you may ignite a whole different chemical reaction.

Regarding age, how much younger or older are you willing to go in order to date someone?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 28, 2018:
I haven't yet given up on my dream of having a child, so that skews my answers a bit to accommodate the current state of health technology. So, while I have this dream, I'm looking for people between 35 and 47 - I might be convinced by someone that is interested and determined to go as low as 30. Once that dream dies, I'd shift the window to 10 years younger than I, or 5 years older.

chilehead9 comments on Aug 28, 2018:
On all the places I have a dating profile, the mildest way I phrase it is, "religion and I don't get along well." I try to get all the stuff that would a hard stop for some people out in the open quickly - if someone is going to have a problem with something that is that big a part of who I am, I'd rather that be found out as early as possible, not 5-10 dates down the line.

chilehead9 comments on Aug 28, 2018:
There is no coffee, only tea.
I've been with my current partner for nearly 6 years.
chilehead9 comments on Aug 28, 2018:
I tried for years with kind of the same situation. All my attempts to discuss issues and/or to find out what they thought the problem was were met with a stone wall, "I don't want to talk about it." Given that history, I'm not willing to let things go nearly that long again with no improvement, even though it's with someone else. Being devoted to the person you're married to doesn't fix anything by itself. So, take that into account when considering my advice. I view ultimatums as a very likely short path to the end of a relationship, so I don't take their use lightly. If you're reached the point where you're asking mostly-strangers on the Internet for advice about whether or not to quit the relationship, then it's probably time to break out an ultimatum. Sit down with him and explain that his behavior in the relationship has changed in a way that you really don't like, you've tried talking to him about it and you don't feel it has improved anything. So you want to make it clear to him that if he isn't willing to take this concern of yours seriously, and make a good-faith effort to work on it, you don't think you can keep going with it. That tells him there's clearly a problem, that you feel it's very serious, and you require his help to work on it. He will know that refusing to address it will likely end the relationship, and with no ambiguity there to let him later claim you sucker-punched him. If there haven't been any changes/improvements within two weeks of that discussion, his actions have told you what he might not be willing or able to put into words - possibly that he doesn't want the relationship anymore and doesn't know how to go about ending it.
When you know a friend is hurting, reach out.
chilehead9 comments on Aug 28, 2018:
People in that state aren't always well-equipped to answer the question "how can I help?" Their thoughts are focused in an inward direction. If you have occasion to be around them, or even at their place, just start doing some chores for them - because doing them and other normal things isn't going to occur to them until they've got processing that pain/grief/whatever out of the way. But their family needs feeding, dishes and laundry will need to be done, trash taken out, shopping done, etc. You can ask what groceries they need from the supermarket - a question with a narrow and immediate focus like that will get processed much better than something as nebulous as "can I do anything for you?" From the time I spent teaching disaster preparedness and response classes, part of the section on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing covered the mental issues that people have following a large, stressful incident. Even the firemen and police that respond to disasters feel stress from it and need a recovery, not just the people the building fell on or were in a hurricane that took rescuers a week to find them after. They learned that forcing people to talk and have counseling sessions immediately after such incidents was having the opposite of the desired effect: being made to talk about it on someone else's timetable was denying them the ability to escape from the horror of the situation they saw or lived through, and that hobbled their ability to cope with it in non-destructive ways. So the new recommended way of dealing with that is for you to let them know that whenever they want to talk, you're willing to listen, you'll be near them and helping them, and otherwise you just shut up and let them be - they'll open up and say what they need to get out when they are able to, if they also feel it's safe to talk with you about it.

"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires." - Ronald Wright From the movie *Mississippi Burning*: "Ward: Where does it come from, all this hatred? . Anderson: You know, when I was a little boy, there was an old Negro farmer lived down the road from us, name of Monroe. And he was, uh, - well, I guess he was just a little luckier than my Daddy was. He bought himself a mule. That was a big deal around that town. Now, my Daddy hated that mule, 'cause his friends were always kiddin' him about oh, they saw Monroe out plowin' with his new mule, and Monroe was gonna rent another field now they had a mule. And one morning that mule just showed up dead. They poisoned the water. And after that there was never any mention about that mule around my Daddy. It just never came up. So one time, we were drivin' down the road and we passed Monroe's place and we saw it was empty. He'd just packed up and left, I guess. Gone up North, or somethin'. I looked over at my Daddy's face - and I knew he'd done it. And he saw that I knew. He was ashamed. I guess he was ashamed. He looked at me and he said: 'If you ain't better than a nigger, son, who are you better than?'...He was an old man just so full of hate that he didn't know that bein' poor was what was killin' him." From my observations, people that are poor for extended periods and/or have gone through really hard times look for ways to feel better about themselves, for ways to assert that they have some power over their situation when they don't, and for some person or group of people that they can "safely" blame for their misfortunes. People that have trouble empathizing with people who are different from themselves put it off as a failure on the part of those other people - like how left-handed people used to be characterized as evil (sinistrous means left handed, and is where we get the word "sinister"). If you're different, you're bad. They can look around and feel they have some standing and value "because I'm not a [minority]." "The horrible economy isn't because we started a world war and are being punished with harsh sanctions for it, it's all The Jews' fault!" "I don't have to care about my treating those people terribly and constantly cheating them, they're poor not because of that, but because they're lazy and won't put in an honest effort! And they don't make good decisions when they do catch a break!" So, whether they realize they have those feelings inside them or not, they recognize the same in the candidate and feel that identifying with that candidate validates them on a few levels. This also explains why they start feeling like any criticism of their chosen ...

Take a moment to imagine what your life would be like if you were married to someone that cared so much about other people's opinions about her PERSONAL relationships. There'd be no aspect of your life together that would be immune to modification and interference by other people's opinions. She had a chance at happiness with you, and the specter of other people's opinions drove her to reject you instead of making an attempt at discussing it and reconciling. You might find that this was a gift, with a thin wrapper of pain and self doubt.

It's certainly not an angle/setting I'd expect to see them in, unless they were running me over or I was serving them food through a window. Text speak. I want to meet someone that can communicate with me, not someone I will need a translator for because evry sntnc is lik u no, short code. Really trite, meaningless answers to questions. For example, "what I'm doing with my life: living it"... isn't that a good description of everyone, ever? People that use what they're looking for to insult and demean anyone that doesn't meet the criteria they are looking for - "I'm looking for a REAL man, someone that will never lie, gives all his money to women, and will let me do whatever I want". The not-so-hidden implication there is that you're not a real member of the male gender if you don't concede to their demands. We haven't even met yet, I don't think I should be having to dodge insults and hostile behaviors. I can let them have their rants about guys that send dick pics, as that's a real problem, but the longer that rant goes on, the more negative feeling I get about that profile.

Am I the only person who doesn't seek out other people to date when already dating someone else?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 19, 2018:
I have a lot of trouble even thinking about going out on dates with more than one person at a time. I'm not going to keep dating someone once I've figured out that it's not going to work out with them; but until I reach that point, I'm going to be putting all of my attention and effort into seeing if we can both convince each other that we can have a good thing together. It's not so hard to talk to multiple people at the same time before actually going on a date, because that happens so infrequently that it's not likely to put me in the position of going on dates with different people in the same month. But I won't set up a date with person B if I'm still arranging dates with person A.

I thought Bernie Sanders was a Socialist?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 18, 2018:
You're getting tripped up by focusing only on the word "socialist". According to the Democratic Socialists of America web site, "Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives." The characterization of "the lazy feed of the hard workers" is just a common form of character assassination and the first step in building a straw man to argue against. There's plenty of millionaires that don't even put in 20 hours a week of even half-hearted effort for their income, and there's no shortage of people who are working 40-80 hours a week that bust their asses the whole time and come home exhausted every day, and still barely make enough to get by, if that. In the USA today, luck plays a much greater part in whether someone gets rich or does well than hard work - by a few orders of magnitude.

chilehead9 comments on Aug 18, 2018:
I had a group of friends that were renting a house together. Since they were different genders, they resolved the argument by making sure everyone put both the seat and the lid down before they left the room. That way, no one seems to be getting preferential treatment, since everyone needs to do something both before and after using the facilities. It also makes sure that the seat is up when any visiting males use the facility, so no wet seats for the ladies to find. I got that habit because I grew up in a house that had a pool out back and a poolhouse bathroom - we had to keep the lid down so the numerous wild animals wouldn't use it as their drinking fountain. There's nothing like running for the bathroom and discovering a family of skunks getting a drink, or a few raccoons dousing their dinner.

chilehead9 comments on Aug 18, 2018:
If you took two pieces of a puzzle that weren't supposed to go together, and you MAKE them fit together, is that somehow a measure of success? The tendency some parts of society have for branding people who get divorced as failures, or referring to a marriage that ends in divorce as a "failure", really irk me. No one gets married (except for tax or green card reasons) with the idea that it might not work out - everyone has forever as their goal and their expectation. But people are different, and sometimes it takes years for people to uncover the hidden parts of their partner or of themselves that make continuing in the marriage to be the biggest mistake they could make. We don't blame puzzle pieces for not fitting together, and we shouldn't be playing blame games with people who entered into a marriage with the good faith intent to make it work. Sometimes it is one person's fault, but more often it's just that the people aren't made for the same thing. It is better that people stop thinking in terms of blame, and start thinking in terms of what they can do to help more people be happy in their lives. I would say congratulations, but the accomplishment is what you have done over the last 6 years - today was just a piece of paper to commemorate it.

chilehead9 comments on Aug 16, 2018:
Smoking. If I'm going to invest all of my emotional energy (I don't do this by half-measure) into someone, I don't want to spend years watching them kill themselves and taking themselves away from me prematurely. If they hate themselves enough that the prospect of the horrible death from this cause doesn't deter them, it's less likely they can love someone else fully. Illegal drug use (I'm undecided on pot - I *want* to say I'd be fine with a mate using it, since I've had many friends that partake, but never been intimate with someone that did). Anyone that would ask me to convert to their religion (because I **know** that will just turn into a series of ultimatums) Conspiracy theorists / creationists / anti-vaxxers / flat-earthers / Trumpanzees. A lack of knowledge can be corrected, as can a misunderstanding - but the flat out denial of concrete and voluminous evidence means it is someone you just can not win with. Ever.

I've used OKC in the past with some success, but once Match.com bought them, they lost at least half their utility. I'm currently also on POF, and it is very similar to OKC. The experience with both is that they dangle possible matches in front of you in an effort to try and get you to throw money at them. They have both put some work into removing functionality so you'll feel the urge to spend on them instead of the person you want to date. The guy that started OKC had a blog entry on why for-pay dating sites cannot be as effective as free sites, and that blog entry disappeared as soon as Match.com bought the place. Good thing the Internet saved a copy!
Do you ever want to cuddle with your boyfriend or girlfriend then realize you do not have one? ?

Can someone please explain/confirm?

You will never see the Moon and Mars being the same apparent size as long as you are on Earth. It's not physically possible - Mars would have to be within half a million miles of the Earth, and that's not going to happen. Yet every year there's a string of hoaxes running around the internet repeating the claims. The description at that link indicates that the photo is actually a mosaic, which explains why every object in the finished picture is the wrong size when compared to the other objects in the picture - different power eyepieces all[ow] them to take pictures of the objects so their sizes change..
What was your all time favorite TV show
chilehead9 comments on Aug 12, 2018:
Several of them have already been listed here, so I'll list a few of my old favorites that still aren't here: Almost Human, Now and Again, Second Chance, Night Court, Police Squad, Cliffhangers, Strange Luck, Backstrom, Dollhouse, Space: 1999, and Cupid.
ESOTERIC: es-o-ter-ic.

Oh please, if you want a Trumpster to understand something, you can't make it so complicated that you have to use words instead of pictures.
I had a strange thing happen to me one day.

Not since I was in jr. college and was scoring a co-ed water polo game - but it could have been that we were both in swim suits, fit, and single. Then there's Harry Dresden: http://dresdenfiles.wikia.com/wiki/Soulgaze
How many couples have met in the singles group including hook ups?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 11, 2018:
Do hookups actually happen through this site? I've not been here long at all, but from my point of view it looks like everyone is fairly geographically isolated.
I just want to tell everybody just how thrilled I am to have Lisa with me now.
chilehead9 comments on Aug 11, 2018:
Congratulations, guys. I hope you're happy for hundreds of years to come! If you need something trivial to fight over, ask for some of the other person's ice cream. That should do the trick.
It's Not Always Just About Sex

I don't know, I think this will take an awful lot of research to verify. Now to find a test subject....

I think it's less about the particulars of the relationships you had in HS, and more about the shared experience. You can both look back and say, "Wow, we all behaved like morons when were that age, but we both survived it. Let's compare notes and see how we've changed and what we've accomplished since then."

Has anyone enjoyed masturbating together with a partner.

So far, everyone's life ends with a fight for their life. But not every fight for life ends with them dying. I do know that sometimes, standing by them through that fight will make everything worth it. And the regret from not going after the person of your dreams will follow you forever.
Guys has this ever happened to you?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 7, 2018:

How many days do you wait for a message before accepting the fact that "their just not that into ...
chilehead9 comments on Aug 7, 2018:
I've learned from experience that if they don't respond in 24 hours, it's best to forget you ever messaged them and move on. If they do get back to you days/weeks/months later, it's a pleasant surprise and I'll deal with it then. But I don't have time to wait on the edge of my seat for each and every person I work up the nerve to message, even if there aren't too many of them.
Are you an adventurous eater?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 7, 2018:
Yes. I've tried crickets, still hard to get over the ick factor on that, but I did do it. I'm not a fan of octopus. Spicy food doesn't scare me or even slow me down, if anything it attracts me. Because there are videos of people trying surstromming, I'd likely pass on trying it, or even being in the room when someone else tries it. But trying new things is a big part of my life aspiration.
OK.

Have you ever deliberately gone out in the rain and played as an adult?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 6, 2018:
Only about half the times it rains where I live. But no more than that. I think. The first time I did a 100 mile, 2-day bike ride event it was raining off and on for the first day and a half. I was expecting to be miserable because of it, but it actually wasn't bad at all.

It mutated from killing 1 out of every 10 to killing 9 out of every 10. Mutinous? I always heard it was used on under-performing units. What happened to this word is almost as bad as what happened to inflammable - now it means both "very difficult to set afire" and "very easy to set afire".
What is something in your life that is a point of constant anxiety/stress?
chilehead9 comments on Aug 6, 2018:
Aside from finding a suitable mate? Finding a job that will not let me down. Every time I think I've found one that I could be happy giving all my effort to until I retire, they either discard me (and other, even more talented people) or they go under.
