We once had a president with integrity and adherence to his principles. He was a Born again Christian (which should make him repugnant to me) but he practiced what he preached and was honest and forthright. He served one term and was generally despised and is considered among the worst presidents in our history. He was followed by a two-termer who is considered by many to be the greatest president in our history but who did more to damage our "Democratic" system than any other and who paved the way for the Bushes and Trumps. His name was Jimmy Carter, a peanut farmer. Until recently he travelled the world helping countries (like Zimbabwe) exercise fair elections.

fishline79 replies on Jul 16, 2018:
That's a good one. I know you didn't write it but the proper reading of a limerick is important. A good one should employ proper syntax (very important) and use unlikely and clever rhymes, puns and other such word-play. I would have written it something like this: There will once be a lady named Bright Who could travel much faster than light She went jogging one day In a relative way And returned on the previous night. You see, you don't stumble on the syntax

fishline79 replies on Jul 15, 2018:
@NothinnXpreVails It used to be done by pioneers of photography like Man Ray, and subsequently often a vehicle used by "Fine Art photographers". I also used to have fun putting positive transparencies in the negative holder (like slides) of the enlarger and making negative prints. I guess with digital photography it's now a lot easier! Also, with some I Phone apps, I believe you can make images that look like solarizations, or old damaged photos or tin-types etc. They kind of take the fun out of creative photography, but, there you are! I have mixed feelings about computerized art. It robs the artist of his creativity. Make something too easy and it becomes redundant or mundane.

Do you have an infra-red setting on your phone?
fishline79 replies on Jul 10, 2018:
@LB67 I said that because I experimented with infra red color film back in the 70s. If you use (I believe an 85 filter) it does very interesting things with colors. Everything green in the scene comes out red, for example. I was really just kidding about your cell phone!

Oh please! What does it take? Just read the postings and you will see what "I" am trying to say. Put your two bits in if you agree, or not! Nobody ever takes time to listen, read or understand anything these days. Do you actually know that a lot of people thought that we (I) were Holocaust Deniers? I don't know how I can make it any clearer! Please don't think I'm being ascerbic but I am a song-writer who has produced 11 albums of (largely critical and protest songs). @TroyBarber64, @Lincoln55 Composition is what it's all about! (and illumination). Ansel adams would go out into Yellowstone with 30 pounds of camera and 8x10 plates and a tripod. He'd spend the day and come back sometimes with only one or two exposed plates; Maybe none at all. I'm sure you have seen the results!

@TroyBarber64 But if you work in photography, why not use a camera? Phones are for talking or texting. Cameras are for taking pictures! I'm a photographer too, and I don't want a "smart phone". Computers have fucked up everything! I'm 71, BTW and glad I grew up in a time when there were no computers and you used your land-line to call somebody and nobody from India ever called you!

@Beach_slim Theoretically, Socialism wants equality or wealth sharing. Whether it works is up to the human beings who exercise it. True Marxism has never really existed, and it was never "Communism" I think the best societies at least make a stab at Socialist systems. Unfortunately every system is invariably betrayed by the greed for wealth and power by people who call themselves Politicians.
do you list the NRA with the KKK? Do you really equate gun ownership with racial discrimination??
fishline79 comments on May 22, 2018:
I sure do. The NRA was originally formed back at the beginning of the 20th century to control arms proliferation. It was since commandeered by right-wing groups (like the KKK) to keep such laws from passing. I was not saying that it was PART of the KKK but just part of the same political movement....

If you read the book which inspired the question (Sam Bourne, The Final Reaconing), your answer addresses the main conflict of the story. Of course almost everybody has no sympathy for the scumbag Nazis but does that excuse what I call "The Charles Bronson (or Liam Neeson, if you prefer) syndrome, ie. one atrocity justifies another. You probably know that many of these retributions were carried out by the Israeli Secret Service (as with Mengele). Does that make it OK? A country, (or a People, if you will) instead of several individuals? It is a question with so many implications as to be almost impossible to answer.

I don't quite follow your response. It seems ambiguous. On the one hand you mention the possibility of a mistake (the heart of the question), then you go on to say you are harsh on "elder abuse". ?? I was only interested in the under-cover assasinations of perpetrators of the Nazi Holocaust.

@AmelieMatisse It's not really about Art of the State. I'm not really a media artist, anyway, but I used to play at Artsfest years ago (although it was always so "slipshod" that it was difficult to talk to anybody with regard to playing.) But, lately they have some new outfit booking acts and they don't know me from Adam. The most insulting thing is that it's all commercial anyway, and you don't get paid for playing. The only way you can make any money is to sell CDs, of which I have many. So I can't think of any reason why I would not be allowed to participate. Harrisburg has always been a difficult place for performers. Nobody wants to pay. I used to work for WITF and have asked several times to play on their local Open Stage program and they don't even offer me the courtesy of replying to my request! Listen to the samples on my website and tell me if you can hear any reason I might not qualify as well as a guy who does a "One Man Band' street act !
Found this laying on the ground how interesting.
