do you list the NRA with the KKK? Do you really equate gun ownership with racial discrimination??
fishline79 comments on May 22, 2018:
I sure do. The NRA was originally formed back at the beginning of the 20th century to control arms proliferation. It was since commandeered by right-wing groups (like the KKK) to keep such laws from passing. I was not saying that it was PART of the KKK but just part of the same political movement....

@AmelieMatisse It's not really about Art of the State. I'm not really a media artist, anyway, but I used to play at Artsfest years ago (although it was always so "slipshod" that it was difficult to talk to anybody with regard to playing.) But, lately they have some new outfit booking acts and they don't know me from Adam. The most insulting thing is that it's all commercial anyway, and you don't get paid for playing. The only way you can make any money is to sell CDs, of which I have many. So I can't think of any reason why I would not be allowed to participate. Harrisburg has always been a difficult place for performers. Nobody wants to pay. I used to work for WITF and have asked several times to play on their local Open Stage program and they don't even offer me the courtesy of replying to my request! Listen to the samples on my website and tell me if you can hear any reason I might not qualify as well as a guy who does a "One Man Band' street act !

@mordant I totally agree with the Boy Scouts statement. It is a para-military training org. We have Scouts here in Spain but they combine boys and girls and are totally different from U.S. As for facial hair, the same applies to long hair if you are looking for a job. You can apply for work with a shaved head and tatoos (which, in my day were sported by prisoners and sailors) and have no problem, but long natural hair was always a detrement to getting a job in the U.S. The only thing the "establishment cares about is if you wear a tie! BTW, the swastica most often used in primitive societies (Native Americans, etc.) was usually with the angles going to the left, but you are right about that, but I will never change my mind that hair styles are the most revealing indicators of one's political and social attitudes.

I hear you. Parents don't teach social skills to their kids. They are afraid (or too busy) to teach them much of anything. You would be amazed at how many young people think it's "gross" to wipe their arse! Your parents can't teach you something like that for fear they'll be arrested for abuse!. They're being too personal! Jeezus, who else is going to teach you? As far as things like opening the door or holding a chair or allowing somebody (male or female) to go through the door first, I did (and still do) all that. If it offends women, that's their problem and not my intention but I still say all this has nothing to do with hairstyles. Have you noticed the latest trends in young people, The hair is virtually cut off on the sides and long and combed back on top ("short back and sides" ca. 1930s and 40s). Look at pictures of Hitler Youth sometime! (or Hitler, for that matter.) It is a Fascist hairstyle. The kids have no idea of that but that's what it is, and I fear for these generations who don't even know why they do what they do because they don't know history.

fishline79 replies on Jun 14, 2018:
@crazycurlz Why not just read what I say and then respond. I was quite clear about my meaning. The US has, in many contexts, both private and public been represented as a predominantly "Christian" country. It was founded largely on that presumption. Whether it is or not is germain to my thesis, and is, I believe fundimentally the reason many businesses have been traditionally closed, drinking prohibited, and employment exempted. You are probably too young to remember "Blue Laws". That Is why I am curious as to why, if this is true, the calendars begin with Monday, which Christian doctrine considers to be the first day of the week (as if "GOD" started everything on Monday). Although, of course the Jews, who allegedly have the same "God", consider that first day to be SUNDAY. Sabbath means seventh. Jewish Sabat begins late Friday through Saturday.
