@nicknotes May be. I haven't had to de-shoe for a year or two, come to think of it, although just a week ago, "Homeland Security" left a card in my luggage. @Geoffrey51 We used to fly an airline called Spanair between Washington and Madrid. It was cheap and convenient (for us) and so easy to get to DC from Central Pennsylvania (unlike JFK! Five hours or more in horrible traffic). On 9/11 they were en route to USA and were intercepted and ordered to turn back and had to return to Madrid! They never flew that route again! We now have one option, as we travel with dogs. That is Iberia, which used to be good but now run by British Air and has gone to hell. Last week in one day 300 passengers had to claim lost luggage!

Nor have I, but there are very nice cameras with built in telephoto and lots of features. They only lack manual focus (which is admittedly important) and interchangable lenses and actual mirror viewing but you can do a lot with them, and, instead of $800.00- $1200, they can be had for under $300.00. I, for example have a Fujifilm S1 (I think it is). It weighs a ton and has the SLR equivalent of 1200 mm! Also 24 mm wide angle. You do sacrifice light-gathering ability. Remember when the old Nikon or Cannon had F1.4 or 1.8. Even the 135 mm lenses were 2.8. Don't get me wrong. I like the old system. These new cameras are so difficult to set up in manual mode that by the time you have everything ready, you've lost the shot. That's why most people just use Auto with everything. They just don't know what real photography entails.

One thing you have to understand about me (well, you don't HAVE to) is that I am a writer, and people who write are not always literal, even if they are literary, if you get my drift. Typical Spanish Modernist (Art Deco). Early 1900s: period of Gaudi. Catalunya is full of it. That particular door is probably made of Oregon Pine and is probably surely over 100 years old. The house it's on is probably about 400 years old, as is mine. I don't have as nice a door, though!

@AmelieMatisse Thank you for that opinion. It sounds like it has merit. The man was a recluse and perhaps it seems arrogant and selfish to keep these wonderful works from the public. These works, after all. belong to everybody and it seems unfair to withhold them from the world just because one has the financial means to do so. Of course, he had the insight to recognize the artists before everybody else did. I'll have to go down to the museum and see the collection in context.

Did you know about the "meat loaf" angle of Billy? I never knew if anybody outside of my small circle were aware of it? One of my favorite places in the world is the Art Museum, but, I must say that its image has been somewhat tarnished for me after seeing the documentary about the breach of the Barnes Foundation will and the part the museum committee played in it. I don't recall the title of the film but it was fascinating. I saw the Barnes just after they decided to open it to the public at certain times, and it was one of the world's greatest personal collections.
This is in Winslow Arizona, it is a beautiful place.

@Holiday The book says that about Papillons. Not lap dogs, but mine will, when he wants to, lie across my legs. Also, when I put my face up to him and request a kiss, he will dutifully give my nose a furtive lick. BTW, the one in the photo I just sent is a she, and she was cute. I think she was something mixed with Maltese, maybe Yorkie because those breeds are both gregarious on Menorca, where she was from.

@jujuofthesea He died just two years ago but was very well known back in the 60s and 70s. It was almost borderline "Lolita" I guess but beautiful. He was sort of the Roger Vadim of the still photography world. His coffee Table books abounded in a time when there was no stigma with photographing scantily clad girls even under the age of consent in sentuous poses. Had he lived in todays world he would probably have been censured, or imprisoned! There was such a time! Not anymore in today's evangelical USA.

I love him but he's incredibly neurotic. But he's a rescue Papillon from Missouri. He also likes to fold up all the throw rugs in the house. He spent three months in a pet shop in PA until we rescued him. I think your little guy is much better bred.
