@Dave75 that sounds like a dreadful idea, given how the human body works. it is better in general, given no medical reason to do otherwise, to spread your meals out, even eat more than three, but very small ones, definitely NOT within the same third of the day, and thus keep your blood sugar steady (and i am not talking about just diabetics). intermittent fasting sounds like a good way to mess up your metabolism. g

genessa replies on Jan 25, 2019:
russian propaganda is subtle. it works from both sides. it convinces the right winger that liberals are all raving commies, and it convinces some left wingers that the democratic party is full of so-called neoliberals who are more or less republican light, while convincing other liberals that the democratic party has gone so far to the left that only bringing it back to center (which, by the way, isn't really the center, but quite a bit right of center) is the only way to save the democratic party. all of this plays together to divide the democratic party, divide the liberal vote, turn us all against each other. meanwhile, the only fake liberals are those trolls who keep yelling about fake liberals. they chortle in glee as the berniephobes blame bernie for hillary's loss (i guess that's why she won the popular vote by almost three million votes) and the berniebots blame hillary for stealing the primaries from bernie (which bernie said readily she did not do) and sigh that bernie could've beaten trump handily (i guess that's why hillary won the popular vote by almost three million and STILL lost the election). that's fun for them to watch. anything that tears us apart is fun for them to watch. popcorn time, even. and of course the republicans are in on this -- thanks, russians! (ain't money great?) that's who the fake liberals are: not the ones our dear trolling poster says they are. him, himself. that's who. g

from msnbc: "In the case of the current government shutdown, however, there’s an inescapable detail: Democrats aren’t asking for anything. Consider the competing postures: "Congressional Democrats: We just want to re-open the government. We don’t have any extraneous policy demands and we’re asking for no concessions. "The Trump White House and congressional Republicans: We’ll consider re-opening the government if Democrats approve billions of dollars in spending for an unpopular border wall. "To portray this with 'both sides share the blame' commentary isn’t just misleading, it’s also an enormous favor to the party that deserves responsibility. "Indeed, to a very extent, it actually encourages the president to try to govern through hostage strategies because it signals to the White House that if Trump relies on extortion, the political mainstream will suggest Democrats give him something for his troubles. If not, they’ll be presented to the public as recalcitrant and unreasonable. "The push for some kind of 'compromise' between the parties is misguided, in much the same way it’d be a mistake to call for a hostage-taker and law enforcement to strive for a middle ground." g

(actually, what you've just said doesn't indicate that you have actually read what i said, beyond divining, perhaps by intuition, that i was disagreeing with you. i'm just too damned nice.) now, for those who can actually read and think: 1. accusations are not worthless. they prompt investigation. the presumption is of course of innocence but that doesn't mean that accusations should be dismissed out of hand. they get investigated and are often proven true. aquaman claims that most are proven to be false, and there is no basis for that claim. presumption is one thing; dismissing all accusations because of that presumption is absurd. 2. no one is presuming every accusation is true. that is a fantasy in aquaman's poor muddled head. 3. therefore no one is presuming that every accusation should lead directly to punishment without stopping for evidence, adjudication and conviction first. he's making this shit up. 4. "you're wrong because i said so" isn't MY tactic. that's violating the presumption of MY innocence lol. 5. he's a troll, folks. no, i'm not saying this because i disagree with him, or even because he got nasty when i disagreed with him. i'm saying it because, as it happens, he's a troll. g

@soquel maybe my mouse hovered on something in the category list and i thought i was hovering over your name. that's not likely but what else could it be? except... i HAVE seen odd things on ag dot com posts i've made myself for example, on at least half a dozen occasions (not recently) i would make a post and then look at it, and everywhere the word "to" or "and" should be, there would be an extra space, so i knew i hadn't just left out the words in question... but they just wouldn't be there anymore. and this didn't happen while i was typing (i'd sort of notice if six words vanished while i was typing!) it happened somewhere in the posting process, out in the invisibleness of the internet. so it's POSSIBLE your profile said 41 when i looked. it's no more likely than anything else, but i wouldn't put it past ag dot com to have that sort of glitch! if it were a mental hiccup on my part, i think i'd have come up with 30 or something that looks like 80, ya know? anyway, not something with a one instead of a zero. that's just TOO weird. g

@Lillyfield41 1. we can't say all or none and since i doubt there's been a study, we really don't know how many people LIKE being lied to. 2. if they don't know they're being lied to, then they can't like being lied to. they can only like being told something they like, whether or not it turns out to be a lie, which they may never find out. that's not the same thing as liking being lied to. so absolutes are wrong in both directions. g

genessa replies on Jan 23, 2019:
@MsAl yes, when you post something like that, you need to have good sources! i am still not totally convinced that a period is not medically necessary. the only part i now accept is that the creator of the pill tried to appease the pope. birth control pills were such a blessing to me, and not just, or even mainly, for contraception. i had dysmenorrhea, BAD. now that i am post-menopausal my uterine lining is all thickened up and i need an hysteroscopy. if i were not post-menopausal, if i were still having periods, i don't think this would be the case; those cells would have been shed every month. there is no one to blame; menopause happens, and i am in general glad to be rid of those painful periods (whether thanking the pill or thanking old age) but i can't help thinking that if i had eliminated periods altogether when i could have them, i might have had this problem sooner. so the pill-maker didn't know what he was doing, and the pope is the last person on earth to know shit about menstruation, and yet menstruation has an important purpose, despite them, maybe even despite the scientific trend of the day. g

While I appreciate the generations that came before me. For goodness sake, my father was the worst tutor ever as he was lightning years ahead of me in everything. There’s a skill to educating. 1:1 with a student is one thing. Keeping control of 30-35 kids is another. There’s always a need ...

@Green_eyes right. but the post was specifically about senior citizens. so... senior citizens who were patient when young might still be patient, and those who were not when young may not have gained patience. if all people of your generation are not the same way, patient or not patient, then people of other generations are similarly diverse. a generation cannot be judged by one person! g

Depends. If they don't have patience for teaching it's a no-go. Also if they feel the need to pass on their prejudices and bigotries to the next generation, they shouldn't be allowed around kids.
genessa replies on Jan 22, 2019:
what makes you think that senior citizens in particular have more bigotries and prejudices to pass on than younger teachers, or that they would be less patient? i sometimes see news articles about teachers who are racist or impatient, and they are invariably younger teachers! thinking this way about senior citizens is itself bigoted. g
The Sugar Pills in Your Birth Control Pack Were Put There to Placate The Pope
genessa comments on Jan 22, 2019:
the whole papal connection is total crap. the ONLY reason the placebos are there is to keep the count -- it's hard enough even WITH them to remember to take the pill on time every day. the explanation about the pope makes no sense at all. no pope ever cares how many pills were in a contraception ...
genessa replies on Jan 22, 2019:
@MsAl no, that is incorrect on several levels. first of all, you always pause to have a period. that has nothing to do with the pope. some pill manufacturers put only the real pills in, or used to, and you'd have to remember to start up again after a week. others put in the placebos to make it easier not to forget to take your pills again. the pope never told anyone to put those pills in the pack. the pope is not connected in any way to how birth control pills are packaged, and he would have no reason to be, because regardless of the packaging, birth control pills are only taken for three weeks out of the four. the fourth week's worth of pills were placesavers, placebos, just to keep your schedule normal. i was on them for decades. i know this. seriously, it has nothing to do with the pope at all and never did. g

genessa comments on Jan 22, 2019:
baby hitler was doomed from the start, with a violent, horrible father and a mom who had lost so many babies that by the time she got to little adolph she was ready to smother him with love and protection. you could not change, with your time machine, her death, which affected him horribly, or his ...
