@WilliamCharles zerohedge i don't know. snopes is often good, more often good than otherwise. bu i remember reading the actual texts, not reading ABOUT them but reading them. i didn't memorize them lol. i remember one that might not have been altered and it was a couple of clinton employees discussing whether or not to sabotage bernie in the south about his possibly being an atheist. it was just a plan to make sure someone asked him about it during a town hall or debate or some such thing. they never did it. that was the worst thing i read that was said in the emails. but as i say that is not necessarily one of the ones i read where i saw the original and then the altered version. g

@CoastRiderBill i will certainly grant that expansion, although i think the categories overlap. christian women who are not religionists (you know, evangelical or at least deeply involved in their religion, as opposed to, say, my presbyterian or episcopalian friends who go to church and don't try to make jesus a part of every decision they make, like my one evangelical who won't accept a job or buy a car unless jesus says it's okay) are not necessarily republicans, but the ones who behave this way i think generally are. still, the expansion is worth noting, to catch any strays lol. g

genessa replies on Nov 25, 2018:
@Alungabardi you're welcome. i feel i must mention that yes, by definition, an atheist rejects the idea of a "higher power." that doesn't mean all atheists reject the PEOPLE who believe in those things -- they reject the beliefs but not necessarily the people. not all theists are morons. their beliefs may be moronic to some of us, but people DO compartmentalize. as for spirituality, everyone has a different definition. to me it's religion light, and i DO reject it, but not people. as for ignorant atheists, how is that different from the general population? i do not find atheists more ignorant than anyone else; i find them in general slightly less ignorant. g

@mordant i once had the good and bad luck to be "dating" a married man. i didn't intend for it to happen. he was a wonderful man, and i do not regret being with him, even though i am not proud of the circumstances. i eventually ended it and when i did, i told him, i can't find someone for myself, just for myself, while i am seeing you. he said, no, i don't mind. i said, but i mind! i can't be with two guys. i can't. @mordant how have you escaped them? rofl rofl it is odd. once in a while on fb and sometimes here too i see "why is everyone not talking about (fill in blank)" and it's something that's all over msnbc, pbs, the nyt, wapo, even cnn, even newsweek lol, and everyone i know is talking about it. so this is a twist: now we have something supposedly taboo, except it's not, of course. g

@OpposingOpposum wasn't accusing, just pointing out, since the topic was specifically women. if the answer is that we're mammals, then there should be no specific behavior just for women in regard to attacking one another without a correponding action from men toward one another, and in this case there simply isn't (for sure there is in other cases; men compete for attention just as women do!) but in regard to this specific question, our mammalian nature isn't the answer. g

@Jolanta no, and i have not tried jumping off a cliff either. you can't make yourself feel something. it's like trying to make yourself believe something. it's like pascal's wager. it's fake. it may not be fake for everyone. it would be for me. and why should this matter so much to you? let me explain something that i have had to explain to my guy, who has alzheimer's. he used to try to give me some of his food. i told him no thanks. he would get pushy about it. i had to get pushy back. he said he was just being nice. i told him, when you offered me food you were being nice. i didn't want any more food so i said no. when you asked me if i was sure, and i said i was sure, and then you KEPT pushing, it stopped being nice. you meant to be nice but you weren't being nice anymore. you were being the opposite of nice. take someone's word for something when they say they don't want something. g

(there is no such thing as a short cut to happiness.) it was what we wanted to say and do. that's what it was. it is what it is, not more, not less. i do not have to tell you what i have to be grateful for. i already expressed it privately. that's not negative. calling someone negative because they disagree with you is pretty negative! i didn't call YOU anything. i didn't characterize you because i disagreed with you. i made no judgments about you personally at all. i disagreed with what you said is all. g
