she's wonderful but she has made it VERY clear she wants nothing to do with running for office. meanwhile if we don't have a big blue wave next month, there won't be anything approaching an honest election in 2020 and it won't matter who's running. g

@Leafhead use it as fertilizer. i wish i could drive (and had better health). man, would i ever drive people to get their i.d. cards, and to city halls to get absentee ballots or to polls in november. that has to be done. there is so much voter suppression going on. g

@BettyColeman understood. but not being able to afford $400 at one time is NOT the same as not being able to afford normal vet visits and food and other care. it simply doesn't. and the people charging that as a rehoming fee mostly had not taken care of any of those expenses and were not being reimbursed for them by the rehoming fee. they simply called it a rehoming fee when in fact they were just selling an animal, and they claimed it was to avoid having nasty people buy the animal, and this is what the original post and my response to it were about. we had a diabetic cat too, and he got insulin shots twice a day. we were poor then too (although not when we got the cat) but we did it anyway. we do not need to be judged for being poor and having pets. no one does. g

What do I think of homosexuality? What consenting adults get up to is absolutely none of my fucking business. It's also none of yours. Period.
genessa replies on Oct 2, 2018:
@belfodil they are unrelated. incest happens when it happens regardless of sexual orientation. throughout this thread you have been equating incest with homosexuality. that's incorrect. you may be of this opinion or that opinion and you have a right to your opinions, but this is a factual matter and you are simply incorrect. incest and homosexuality are two different things, just as eating a nice dinner and homosexuality are two different things, murder and homosexuality are two different things and football and homosexuality are two different things. some gay people eat a nice dinner. some gay people are murderers. some gay people play football. being gay doesn't cause any of those three behaviors, none of those three behaviors is caused by being gay, and none of those three behaviors is exclusive to gay people. the same goes for incest. g

I think what two consenting adults do in the bedroom is nobody else's business. I would hope someone would look at my business in the same light.
genessa replies on Oct 2, 2018:
i agree, and only most gently wish to point out that homosexuality is not just about sex. it's about to whom one is attracted, not just sexually but romantically. it's about with whom one falls in love. sometimes people ask how a small child can know s/he is gay when, after all, s/he isn't even remotely sexually mature. well, when i was about three, i knew i was in love with gene autry. if i'd been gay i might have been in love with, say, annette funicello instead. (oh, probably not, but that's all i can think of, since i was watching the mickey mouse club at that age.) it's that simple. so it's not just about what people do in the bedroom. people in love do other stuff besides have sex. g

@zeuser actually sometimes hair color changes naturally as well, and not just with age (and not just with trauma, though it was interesting when after brain surgery liz taylor's lovely black hair turned white). sometimes a baby's hair or a small child's hair will change color as s/he grows to adulthood. i don't know how common it is but i know it's not rare. side issue, i realize and not terribly serious, but i thought i'd mention it nonetheless :-)) g

@Ray13 so then what do you do if you don't have a wide circle of pet-deprived friends and you have a pet in need of a home? you have to be a good judge of character. but most people in the world are strangers. i have NO friends who want a pet, and my guy has alzheimer's, and i'm having surgery in november from which i probably will recover (no guarantees) but which is likely to find cancer, which has worse odds. if i did, what does my guy do with the pets? he knows no one. he can't take care of them alone indefinitely. it KILLS me; these are my babies. we can't take them to a shelter, not even a no-kill, so we would have to find them homes with strangers. how do we do it? i am crying as i type this. it's an impossible situation. these cats have slept in my bed and my arms for 14-16 years. g

genessa replies on Sep 30, 2018:
@phxbillcee hysterical! i'll add something to it (don't i always?) he talks about memes, and of course a meme can say anything and attribute it to anyone, but sometimes memes show someone's picture and then have a message it is maybe not so clearly attributing to the pictured person, but which is purportedly in sync with that person's world view, or at least that person's persona's world view. example: all of those gene wilder as willie wonka memes. it's the same picture again and again, and there may be a different message under it in each meme, and no one actually thinks wonka said that in the movie, but everyone can imagine the line being said in THAT voice. usually the message does go along with that persona's tone. once in a while, some rightwinger will use it to express a rightwing view that simply does NOT go along with wonka's persona, and most definitely doesn't go along with wilder's worldview, as he was a liberal democrat. when that happens, there is either deception or ignorance (or both) involved. it would be like showing a picture of clint eastwood and saying something pro-gun control. it's not a match. it's not even about misquoting; it's about misreading the truth about the pictured party. anyway, misquotes can be corrected, although their proliferation is hard to stop, but this misguided , mismatching meme-making is harder to counter because if you use more than three or four words in your response people accuse you of being obsessed, or emotional, or defensive, and pay no attention to what you're actually saying. if i were not so tired from my day out, i could probably have said that in fewer words -- but not three or four lol anyway thanks for the laugh! i enjoyed that video. g

I it really bad when they get together like that. No you know what has ten ears, 180 claws, 10 eyes, 5 tales, and 5 tails. No how does one get some sleep with a monster like that on your bed.

oh i had to break up the snugglefest to get to sleep but then one by one most of them came back. penny slept on my body, golde slept in my hair and wendy came over and held my hand. teyve stayed behind wendy and bathed her, and kuma slept on a pillow right by me. g

@SACatWalker i should have a new battery in the mail pretty soon, and i HOPE that turns out to be what's wrong with it. it has many curious symptoms, but it also just won't hold a charge, so i have high hopes the battery is the source of all the symptoms. it was last time. g
Ya' pays your money & ya' takes yer choice...
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
just so you know, the expression is "you pays your money and you takes your chances." chance, not choice. of course that doesn't change the veracity of the meme, which is spot on. g

it's too bad i can't see properly when they cuddle with me! penny lies on top of me. she can barely wait for me to lie down. sometimes she tries to crawl up on me when i'm not quite settled. i don't know what she looks like on me but she feels very comforting! g

@Pralina1 that is close to how i see it. i guess i can also point out that the impeachment and the "investigation" that led up to it wasted enough taxpayer money to raise the question of whether or not it was worth doing over that issue. i mean, lyndon johnson used to make senators talk to him from outside the bathroom door so they could hear him pooping. that was kind of gross. impeachable? and did it make him a bad president? as far as i know, dubya never had a blow job in the oval office. is lying to the american public about illegally invading a foreign country that never attacked us and didn't have weapons of mass destruction an impeachable offense? is it worse than a blow job -- and more to the point, is it more our business than a blow job? g

@linxminx no, not a huge deal. we can disagree civilly. not every can, alas! but we don't entirely disagree. i am not trying to give clinton a pass on his indiscretion. i am trying to say that congress had no call -- and certainly no pure motivation -- to impeach him over it. g

@linxminx if he can have a lunch break on our dime and a golf game, he can have a blow job. we may not like that, but it's still none of our business -- and he wasn't impeached for wasting taxpayer money. g
