He was not a draft dodger, he was a draft evader, from 1964-68 he had a legit student deferment, (draft dodging), from 68-72 he had an illegal temporary medical deferment (1Y), from 1972 until the end of the draft he had an illegal unfit for service under any circumstance status(4F)until the end of the requirement in June 1975. He never entered the pool of eligibles, instead took illegal means to evade the draft (fake illness). I served 6 years active, 2 active reserve, and I respect your decision to avoid the draft, and cheer your good luck at not having to. I was not quite so lucky, my number did come up, and i hated cold weather (Canada and Sweden) and did not speak Spanish (Mexico) so I was limited. I admired the courage of those willing to give up all that they knew for a decision of conscience, but to fake it, I had no respect for.

He can only shut it down when he refuses to sign budget bills. It is more smoke and mirrors than an actual shutdown. We used to have one budget bill, and if there was no agreement, the entire government shut down, except for essential services, so about 60 % of the government continued operating even during a full shut down. Now there are separate budget bills for varying departments, so no shut down has or ever will be complete.

@LucyLoohoo I have a young (35 YO) girl that i have been mentoring since I retired, I like to joke that she is the daughter I never had, but I never said I wanted a daughter. She can be really naive about how the world works. She was talking about concerts and i told her about all the groups i had seen, she thought I was talking about now, and I had to explain to her that I saw most of the groups on their first or second album. And the only drug that has gotten better has been pot.

I probably listened to the Abraxis album way too many times. The girl I was dating loved to put it on right before we turned out the lights. To this day, I can't hear the songs without feeling a little amorous. Thanks for the memories.

I am not sure that they know for sure either. NASA has long held that there are large quantities of water ice on the Martian poles, Until we actually put a lander on the polar surface, I believe it will all be speculation. The logistics of that put it way down the list of missions.

I remember it was a pain explaining to my night bartenders that the beer had to be stocked and iced down before they left, because when we opened at 7, the people that worked third shift at the plant would already be lined up outside.
