Just love this! Might have posted it before, but not sure.
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
I don't need others to tell me what to think, how to think, or what to believe. What I need others for is to provide me new information or different information. As soon as you state belief as fact, you've lost me.
Is there anyone else here, like me, who doesn't watch Youtube?
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
I use it when I need to see a process, otherwise written instructions work better. I use it for music when I'm in the mood.
How does one become an introvert?
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
When I am home, I am very much an introvert, I prefer my contact to be one on one or not at all. I don't need a lot of human interaction. When I am in a crowd i can be very much the extrovert and work the crowd. I don't have to be fully engaged with other people and can be happy just having another person in the room or house.
And prophecy. This was made in 2015, just how correct is it possible to be. [youtube.com]
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
We have always had people that predicted the next great disaster long before it happened. 9/11 was part of military planning scenarios since at least 1964 and programs were in place to stop it until 1992. The problem with deterrent programs is that when they work people wonder why you are spending all that money that is not being used. After Hurricane Alica(1983) there was a huge build up of prepositioned disaster relief aid, but with no major storms hitting major cities that money was being wasted, so when Hurricane Katrina(2005) hit New Orleans nothing was available. Until people get a fuck of a lot smarter about paying for preparation versus response, we will continue to be surprised by crisis that were fully predictable.

Who else is self isolating through this COVID-19 pandemic?
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
It's my semi normal life style. When I am home, I lock myself down with minimal human contact. When I travel, I could be Typhoid Mary on steroids.
Not a new trend.
glennlab comments on Mar 18, 2020:
It works because it doesn't move.
My recent hike here in the Southwest! This is at Dripping Springs in Las Cruces, NM.
glennlab comments on Mar 17, 2020:
How long a hike is it? If they ever open up Las Vegas again, I may drive the southern route either coming or going.
No new posts here in the last 5 days. Is everybody giving up on Bernie's campaign?
glennlab comments on Mar 17, 2020:
I'm going to the state convention as a Bernie delegate (june in San Antonio). Our senatorial convention are this weekend, but they will be held pro forma, so no need to get out.
Happy Tuesday! What's a food you've wanted to try but haven't yet?
glennlab comments on Mar 17, 2020:
One of my favorite that people are afraid to try is Red Jalapenos peppers in dark chocolate. The bitter of the chocolate offset by the mature flavor of the peppers is to die for.
Happy Tuesday! What's a food you've wanted to try but haven't yet?
glennlab comments on Mar 17, 2020:
At this point in my life, I can't think of a food I wanted to try, but haven't. I'm quite a foodie, so if I really have a desire, I will find a way to get the item. Over the years, I have had many more disappointments than new loves. But I am always on the search for new delights.
After today I will be working remotely from home until at least April 3rd.

glennlab comments on Mar 17, 2020:
There really hasn't been much of a change except that all my traveling has been curtailed. The young girl that comes over to help with my housework just messaged me that her husband woke up with a fever, so we are postponing this week indefinitely. I realized how much I valued the interaction with her when I got really disappointed just seeing her message. I miss the traveling more than anything.

Happy Monday! Hot topic today - how has Covid-19 affected you?
glennlab comments on Mar 16, 2020:
I guess I have been ready for way too long. I keep a box of surgical gloves in my car along with hand sanitizer and wet wipes and a roll of tp. These are my traveling supplies and I use them liberally with rotation to make sure that they stay fresh. (I also carry an apron, heavy gloves, a knife, paper towels and ziplock bags) I may need to make a couple of runs for fresh veggies.

😪 OK so I really need to say this.
glennlab comments on Mar 16, 2020:
bleach is a modified chlorine compound, which dissolves the protein coating on viruses, vinegar is acetic acid which only affects gram negative bacteria. While they can be combined, there is a 20 second wet time for either . that means you it must remain on the surface for 20 seconds before you wipe it off in order to be effective. I use a 30% vinegar for cleaning in the kitchen, but that is for bacteria.
So cute love it

This is the first time I have ever been happy that they don't pay off in cash anymore.

In an effort to retain our solitary sanity let's post some of our most embarrassing moments.
glennlab comments on Mar 16, 2020:
In my younger days, i was somewhat of an athlete, At a large track meet where there was considerable fanfare as the made the introductions for the lane assignments, I left my warmups on until just before getting into the starting blocks. Normally you just slide your hands between the warmups and your shorts and peel them off, then step out of them. I slid my hands in, peeled off my warmups and had just mooned 20,000 people. My shorts came off with my warmups. I took ribbing for that for several years.
It's almost as if....it doesn't do anything...

amusingly enough, apparently something at the Museum of the Bible is not as presented .
glennlab comments on Mar 15, 2020:
The museum relied on the collectors authentication, not all that out of the ordinary for a loaned collection. In order for the researcher to agree to do the test, the museum had to agree to allow the publication of results no matter what they were. There were a multitude of problems, but as long as there are people that will accept the sellers authentication, there will be fakes on the market for anything of value.

Does anyone else use their own compost for their soil?
glennlab comments on Mar 14, 2020:
I have a large compost pile that I move from one side to the other as I add new material. I also dump all of my old pots into it to add volume to it. I add pine bark mulch to it each spring to keep my acid up and add new organic material. When i mix my pots, I add a layer of landscape pine bark mulch to the bottom of the pot, then a mix of compost, peat moss, and pine bark mulch to fill the pots. Most of my pots are 5-30 gallon, so it can take quite a volume. I top dress my mint pot (180 gallon) with compost then water it in..
