@Boogey We have one trial going on right now, and they just convicted another one. The militarization of the police departments have lead to a mentality where rather than deescalate, disarm we have gone to escalate, fire. use of overwhelming force has become the rule rather than the exception. The influx of former military into local PDs has led to an increase in this mentality.

Beautiful images. Keep children away; they are toxic. https://www.denverpost.com/2008/10/02/officials-warn-against-moonflowers/
glennlab replies on Sep 17, 2018:
They are toxic depending on the season and the part of the plant ingested. The highest concentrations are in the seeds, they are part of the night shade family high in atropine, and hallucinogenics so overdosing has occurred more as other hallucinogens became harder to get. Early settlers had a tough time when their animals would eat them and start hallucinating along with added strength and stamina. This plant was blamed when many a cowboy or prospector lost their animal since it was normally the only green thing to eat. Handling the plants generally don't require any special requirements unless you are processing them. Care should be taken around children and animals which take much smaller doses for poisoning.

Lovely!!!! I also let my plants become catterpillar food. Passion vine is on my list for garden addition. I heard that tea made from the leaf is good for arthritis. My garden attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and tons of bees. Unfortunately, wasps have a thing for my house too. ?
glennlab replies on Sep 17, 2018:
The wasps feed off the caterpillars, they are a part of the food chain. I normally just knock down the nests when they are in a bad spot, near the house or pathways I travel. As long as they are not in an area where I will get stung, I let them be. The butterflies and caterpillars are very sensitive to poisons, so unless the nest is in a bad place, has gotten too big to safely knock down, or the little bastards sting me, no poisons. I have tried the tea, it has a really "planty" taste. I'd be happy to send you leaves to try or plants if you want to grow it. PM me for details.

glennlab replies on Sep 15, 2018:
Before the flowers open in the evenings, The bees are crawling inside to get to the pollen and nectar. The moth of the green tomato hook worm, one of the largest of the moths uses it as both a host and a nectar plant. I have seen several other large moths and at least one bat on my flowers. Hot and dry is acceptable to these plants. If you want to look up anything go with the scientific name as they have multiple local names and several different flowers have the same colloquial name. Normally the steroids make the boobs smaller, but the rest is achievable with just drugs and work. But I don't find it attractive at all.

how deep do you plant a pig?
glennlab replies on Sep 13, 2018:
@FrayedBear I didn't realize the difference in where we were when I first posted. The difference in fauna can make a world of difference. My compost is about 100 feet from my house, so any animal problems are taken care of by the feral army of cats that my roommate has attracted, roaches and Texas kind of go together, but again the distance is enough that they don't bother me, I can see how blow flies would be much, much worse than the blueflies that infest my pile. The one thing I would add if you are going to bury waste like that, make sure it is in contact with the soil and not in a bag. It should decompose with soil microbes and worms.
South of Camanchi Texas I saw the ranch on hwy 36.

Our current Energy Secretary, Rick, the dick, Perry, actually has a degree in this
Duchess comments on Sep 13, 2018:
Yeah I saw Mike Rowe on "Dirty Jobs" do that. Yuck !
glennlab replies on Sep 13, 2018:
As much fun as it is to laugh about, it does help spread desirable traits quicker, safer and more efficiently than the natural method.

glennlab replies on Sep 13, 2018:
But you aren't in charge of the nation's nuclear weapons. And Rick gives Aggies a bad name. He's not the brightest bulb in the pack. To your second point, way to make a guy feel bad. lol

She murdered him
glennlab replies on Sep 13, 2018:
The investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers right now. The sheriff in Dallas county only has jurisdiction in cases in the unincorporated areas of Dallas County and the county jail, so has no input in this case. I don't trust the angers anymore than I trust the Dallas PD, but they don't have a dog in this hunt, unlike Dallas PD. The one thing that will ensure justice in this case is continuing public scrutiny. She still has not been indicted and the case has not been presented to a grand jury. Our current DA was appointed by a very republican governor. She was perhaps the most incompetent judge in Dallas if not the state before being turned out to pasture. She is a Clarence Thomas republican, black, incompetent, but presents well.

This is her second shooting, I on duty, this one off duty. The blue wall is closing around her to protect one of their own. Based on only what she has said, she is guilty of manslaughter. Once you start taking into account all of the anecdotal evidence, she could be guilty of capitol murder. One...

@Boogey first one was Hispanic. She is quick to shoot, and probably never should have been on the police force.
