I've scoped out over 20 different spots I'd like to stop after I had to change my route since several of the spots weren't open yet. The plan/no plan is the best way to describe a trip like that. Years ago I took my son a West Coast trip for 6 weeks. As long as you know what is in the area you are going through, the possibilities are endless. I carry my laptop with me, my phone is a wifi hotspot so even with crappy local wifi, I can still get my next day planned.
