As an athlete, I always thought participation trophies were bullshit, when I coached, I could see their benefit even if I still questioned their value. That not withstanding, to some kids, that will be the only awards they get and they are proud of them. To have a legislature waste time and money to outlaw them is crazy. The Special Olympics is pardon the redundancy special and all you have to do is work with them one time to feel the challenge these children face, I don't think he realizes who he is taking on.
