@UrsiMajor We are simply following the pattern. We were established by corporations, revolted against a corporate takeover of the tea market ( The British East India Company was going to offer lower prices even after the new added tax, but they would have put most if not all of the small locally owned tea companies out of business.) And have continued to provide "assistance" in corporate expansion into other markets. We are by no means alone in our exploitation of resources. Almost every country has done similar things. First you send trade delegation, then you establish a foothold and entice the locals to work for you at wages better than what they are used to, but still far less than what it is worth, then you begin a military presence, next you influence the government and if it doesn't agree with you, you help in its overthrow.

Just because people ask to have a book banned, doesn't mean it has been. as for the anarchist cookbook "The Anarchist Cookbook, first published in 1971, is a book containing instructions for the manufacture of explosives, rudimentary telecommunications phreaking devices, and related weapons, as well as instructions for the home manufacture of illicit drugs, including LSD. It was written by William Powell at the apex of the counterculture era to protest against United States's involvement in the Vietnam War. Powell converted to Anglicanism in 1976 and later attempted to have the book removed from circulation. However, the copyright belonged to the publisher, who continued circulation until the company was acquired in 1991. Its legality has been questioned in several jurisdictions. " It is for sale on line by at least 6 vendors + amazon and for download on at least 3 vendors.

I give it zero stars, too. 51°F is supposed to be our LOW, not our high.

Shoveled snow for over 2 hours Monday. When it is 4'-5' in drifts it is very hard to throw it far enough away so it doesn't fall right back!

I think that note was on our thermostat growing up. But my favorite is "Fuck this." I feel it.

Pretty sure your feet are not doing well today. It took me the first 5 minutes in the hot tub before mine were back to normal.
Except for me it was Vietnam
Sierra4 comments on Feb 3, 2022:
I was in for six years. All Cold War. No great stories, except close proximity to nuclear…excuse me… I mean special weapons. 😱
glennlab replies on Feb 3, 2022:
@of-the-mountain Those damned canvas covers took almost as long to take off as the actual maintenance on the weapons. It's not like people couldn't figure out that if you had B-52s, you had nuclear weapons, and the covers had to be removed when the loaders go ready to upload the weapons. The 5 fences, one electric that had to be cleaned on a regular basis, was most certainly a dead give away that we were moving nukes inside the area. It was really just one more piece of AGE to get written up over.

I so wish my Oklahoma senators would take a vacation from assaulting Biden's immigration and national defense policies. One of them is too old to walk to the airport, the other one is having too much fun lying about what's happening at our Southern border.
glennlab replies on Feb 3, 2022:
@Lorajay I've maintained for years, that any coverage of a candidate during the period between the filing and the election should be counted as in kind political contributions unless all major candidates are given substantially equal coverage. By this measure in 2016 trump received over $1 billion from the networks.

Sounds good, but is it environmentally friendly?
glennlab replies on Feb 3, 2022:
It is still too early in the process to determine. All hydrocarbons have some environmental impact. The question becomes "Will this have less of an impact than the materials and processes that it will replace?"

I was glad when they finally declassified the shapes of the weapons, and at the same time started calling them what they were nuclear weapons/bombs/missiles. Even happier went I got to stop working on them.

glennlab replies on Feb 3, 2022:
It's kind of funny, every republican in the Texas primaries is running against Joe Biden and for militarizing the border. Joe's not even on the Republican ballot, and the border is a federal responsibility. Reminds me of when they used to run against Tip O'neil and Ted Kennedy.

I have a feeling that their lawyers are telling them that it borders on illegal to benefit an individual. Since it has nothing to do with their non profit purpose.
glennlab replies on Feb 2, 2022:
@Redheadedgammy He's got lawyers fighting damned near everything, there is the tax thing, all of the insurrection things, election fraud, the 1/6 committee, plus individual lawsuits. Most reputable firms won't represent him unless someone else guarantees the payment because of his history of non payment.
