glennlab replies on Apr 6, 2020:
@Lizard_of_Ahaz Neither of these say that the disease came from eating bats, in fact both state something quite different. Simply finding an article that says that bats have closely related viruses is not saying that it came from bats. The ONLY scientific article quoted states that it most likely came from bats or pangolins, perhaps if you read the whole article before posting it you would see what it said. from the non science article "Bats can pass along viruses in their poop: If they drop feces onto a piece of fruit that a civet then eats, the civet can become a disease carrier." that you referenced.

@Lizard_of_Ahaz To be honest there is no direct evidence that it came from bats either from feces or eating, from science daily... "This evidence for natural evolution was supported by data on SARS-CoV-2's backbone -- its overall molecular structure. If someone were seeking to engineer a new coronavirus as a pathogen, they would have constructed it from the backbone of a virus known to cause illness. But the scientists found that the SARS-CoV-2 backbone differed substantially from those of already known coronaviruses and mostly resembled related viruses found in bats and pangolins." for the full article go to https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/03/200317175442.htm

@Mets Yes it does, each state elects the members of the elctoral college based on the popular vote in that state. Otherwise the republicans would not keep trying to reduce the voting population in swing states.

A sense of humor during times of crisis allows us to make draconian choices and not hurt so much. I have always found ways to make light in times of crisis and I got to watch the world almost go to nuclear war. My boss who relied on my expetise in times or crisis asked me what to do, and I replied, I have to catch a plane, good luck. He didn't see the humor in it.
I couldn't decide on here or the coffee drinkers group, decided both

Keep in mind that the FFC..the fossil fuel consortium....is at the end of their game. They see the easier to build, far simpler Electric vehicles... which means tens of thousands of jobs terminated, etc. because they run on 95% fewer moving parts....they will get cheaper, easier to charge, ...
glennlab replies on Mar 30, 2020:
@AtheistInNC Since most people are not accountants, they look at purchase price versus what it will do not long term costs. Since a Tesla costs twice as much as a comparable gasoline vehicle it has to provide twice the benefit to be attractive. I agree that coal power production will be phased out, and the sooner the better. I have been hearing that electric cars would be the future for over 40 years, as soon as the technology was there. There are still not enough charging stations and in many areas there are none. Gasoline cars had similar obsticles to overcome and it took them decades to do it. It took an innovation that priced a car where the average person could afford it before infrastructure was put in place. If electric vehicles were that attractive now, most people would have them, they're not so people don't. Don't take this as me being against electric, I'm not. I'm not going to make a lifestyle change until the things I want to do are included in that change, and I would say that applies to most people. The numbers speak for themselves.Out of 270 million vehicles on the road, slightly more than 1 million are electric, I stand by my use of the word most. 99%is a little over half don't you think?
