Prehistoric girl had parents belonging to different human species | New Scientist
p-nullifidian comments on Mar 21, 2020:
Now I admit, biology was never my strong suit, but I thought that in the rare instance when two different species successfully breed, a sterile hybrid is produced?

dogs and wolves. brown and polar bears. Cattle and bison, cattle and damed near any bovine species. that's off the top of my head, the sterile hybrid is the analomy in nature, not the rule.

If the convention is held online, no one except the chair, and a few convention officials will be present, everyone else will attend by internet. While by law it must be a public event, the courts have ruled that if electronic participation is allowed, it meets the definition of "public" While the meeting may be public, participation is limited to actual votes on the items presented. as they are presented with no amendments or debate.

@Lorajay, @DotLewis 12-14" is ideal, if the soil is poor, dig a little deeper and add compost under the crown, then cover the crown with 1-2 inchesof rich dirt. You are looking at a bed lasting from 10-20 years, so a little work early and top dressing each year will give you good crops. They store the food for next spring's growth in their tuber roots, so feeding from the time they go to fern until Sept. is important. Only backfill as the fern grows so that there are always leaves above the soil level.
That's not good...

Most of Biden's supporters don't know how to use a computer because they were born in the 30s.
glennlab replies on Mar 20, 2020:
The biggest problem is that most of the deals are made when minority candidate delegates get together and are then able to convince a few others to go along in exchange for some concession. With an on line convention there can be no horse trading for the convention in two years when we will set the rules for 2024. We have made some progress in the past 30 years, but it has been because of deals made during presidential convention years.

glennlab replies on Mar 19, 2020:
@Lorajay If you heavy water in the spring when they first start sprouting. Harvest each time they come up until they are about the thickness of a pencil. At that point let them go to fern, fertilize monthly until first frost and let it die back, then trim to the ground,. If it's a dedicated asparagus bed, I would plant some additional crowns. Dig down to about the outside ground level and reserve the dirt. Place the crown at the bottom of the hole, as the fern grows up fill the hole. Keep well watered. 2nd year these should increase your yield significantly. A bed that size should give you enough spears to enjoy every day for the growing season, maybe even two seasons.

What cost her the election was a multitude of reasons, Voter supression over a million primarily democratic voters removed from the rolls in states that she only lost by 80,000. Red shift, the difference between exit polls and voter count. Out right election fraud by the republican party. $4 billion in free political coverage by the networks for trump, Russian interference, fake facebook accounts trolling democrats, I could go on for a while, but you need to stop the bullshit that she lost because Bernie voters stayed home or voted for Jill Stien.

We are basically the same here in Ontario. Schools and all County facilities closed now for 3 weeks, but I expect that will be extended. Many say 8 week minimum,so we shall see.

@IrishTxJudy Just read that it's 30 days statewide and 8 weeks in Denver County.
Happy Monday! Hot topic today - how has Covid-19 affected you?
glennlab comments on Mar 16, 2020:
I guess I have been ready for way too long. I keep a box of surgical gloves in my car along with hand sanitizer and wet wipes and a roll of tp. These are my traveling supplies and I use them liberally with rotation to make sure that they stay fresh. (I also carry an apron, heavy gloves, a knife,...
glennlab replies on Mar 16, 2020:
@MissKathleen I never know when i will find something I'd like to collect, or that really good meal was messy as hell, or that rest stop in the middle of nowhere has no tp. Also these are the things i have forgotten in the past when I went fishing or camping.
😪 OK so I really need to say this.
glennlab comments on Mar 16, 2020:
bleach is a modified chlorine compound, which dissolves the protein coating on viruses, vinegar is acetic acid which only affects gram negative bacteria. While they can be combined, there is a 20 second wet time for either . that means you it must remain on the surface for 20 seconds before you ...
glennlab replies on Mar 16, 2020:
@Cutiebeauty I wasn't clear with what I meant, and when I reread it I realized that I meant to type in combination as in put one down, wait 20 sec, wipe up, then put the other down, wait 20 seconds, wipe up. Thanks for the catch.

no water, no TP, no cleaners, limited milk, eggs and bread. Other than that pretty much normal.
glennlab replies on Mar 16, 2020:
@Cutiebeauty In the past year I have not finished a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk before it went bad. Habits from my days as a war planner and living in the country still serve me well. I have enough supplies to last me for quite some time except for fresh fuit and veggies. I just went out to get veggies yesterday and saw the results of panic buying.

I've never bought this many at one time, but they will stay where the foood is. I was surprised the number that have moved from the really prime dining on the loquat tree to my fennel and other tender plants. Spring has sprung here.
