Last night on my dispersal of the first 3000 ladybugs, I put them near the infestation tips, they started chowing down as soon as they hit the leaves. The ones I released today (overcast and drizzly) I put on the base of the tree. they hit the lower leaves and started eating like mad. You can see the congregation on the lower leaves in the pic.

@Zoohome it's a flower stalk that is about 10 feet, I had one about 15 feet in my front yard 20 years ago. The flower they compare it to(corpse flower) is a complex association of flowerettes which is one of the two classifications recognized for flowers, the other being the measure across a single bloom (a little over 4 feet is that record). I can understand his excitement, since I was so suprised when my aloe bloomed.

@Cutiebeauty That is a legal definition, the max content is 23%. The yeast naturally dies at that percentage. Winemakers make sure that the sugar content is lower and use sulfites to kill the yeast when it gets near 12%, home brewers are not limited by the legal conventions.

glennlab replies on Mar 10, 2020:
@Cutiebeauty Flavor is mild, the alcohol is strong. I've gotten my wines up to 22% alcohol, near the limit of where you can get wines up to. The fun in wine making is experimenting to get it a little better each time. I'm not a purist, but I refuse to use sufites to stop the fermentation. The smaller batches allow me to screw up smaller amounts at a time.

Isn’t it true that the delegates are not legally bound to anyone so since Amy, Pete, and Bloomberg have announced their endorsement then they will give their delegates to Biden thus giving Biden the nomination.
glennlab replies on Mar 4, 2020:
@LucyLoohoo, @Aurora62 One of the problems we have is that the news reports things as the DNC is doing such and such. the reality is that most of the time it is a vocal minority of the actual membership of the DNC that is floating a proposal to try to gain traction. Most members take their role very seriously and try to make sure that we have the best candidate possible on the November ballot. The problem occurs when a person's primary loyalty shifts from the party to an individual candidate. The first job of the DNC is to make sure that the premaries are held fairly and that the national convention is held. Everything else is just politics. I agree that we need to overturn Citizen's United, but I would go one farther, public financing of elections and free air time. The citizens own the airwaves it should be a form of repayment for the use of our property. TV, radio, and internet. With limits on each and no ability to purchase more. Parties would be allowed GOTV spots, but unions and corporations would be prohibited from electioneering 90 days prior to the election.

@Aurora62 We are not now, or have we ever been a democracy. We started out as an autocratic representative democracy or a representative democratic autocracy depending on your point of view (whether you were a white land owner or not) The primaries have been an evolving process for over 200 years. Most US parties do not have primaries and nominate all their candidates statewide at their state conventions and their presidental candidates at their national convention. Only the Dems and Reps hold some form of primary in all 50 states. Each party makes it's own rules and can change them as they see fit. The rules of the debates are set by the DNC and RNC, the RNC has opted not to hold any debates giving Trump unfettered path to the nomination. The Dems have porpotional allocation while the Reps have winner takes all. The DNC holds open meetings while the RNC holds mostly closed door meetings. When the rules for 2020 were set down by the DNC there were representatives of all the declared candidates there, when the rules for the Reps were set, Trump sent them to the RNC and they rubber stmped them. I have had input in the past, not all of the changes are good, and the people in power tend to stay there. There are people that are still returning favors that were performed during the civil rights era. There are animosities that date back to Crystal City that still haven't healing (long story https://www.plannersnetwork.org/2008/01/contextualizing-radical-planning-the-1970s-chicano-takeover-in-crystal-city-texas/) It is still an experiment in government, so it is up to you and your generation to continue to force changes for the better.

@Aurora62 Don't forget we have only been voting in massive primaries versus caususes since 1976. Prior to that the presidential primarys were a glamour contest with no bearing on the actual dlegates. The caususes in Texas controlled the delegates until 2012.

glennlab replies on Mar 4, 2020:
@Aurora62 Super delegates were put in to allow normal voters a chance to get to the national convention. If you lived in the precinct of a political notable, your chances of even getting out of the precinct convention were limited, they were even more limited at the district and state levels. By giving what before had been descretionary state delegates to actual people, it pulled them out of the process and allowed normal voters to get a chance to go to the convention. These people most likely would have gotten national delegate slots anyway. Had that been the rule in 2016 Bernie would have been the nominee and still may be.

glennlab replies on Mar 4, 2020:
@Aurora62 There is no doubt that Biden has the support of the super delegates, but All of the delegates are released on the second ballot. That is a reason that you don't stop fighting. That is the reason in 1984 i helped elect and send to nationals a Mondale local chair as a Jesse jackson delegate. You try to elect your people as both delegates and alternates so that in case there is a second ballot, you have more strength.

glennlab replies on Mar 4, 2020:
@Aurora62 The media is the only one pushing a brokered convention to drum up viewer/readers. There has not been a convention since 1952 where the winner was not determined during the primary process. But in a brokered convention delegates are ONLY committed on the first ballot unless released by their candidate. The most important thing is to continue to fight. After the first ballot, every state recaucuses, then they come back and revote. During the second and subsequent ballots super delegates are allowed to vote.
It's Wednesday, do you know what that means?

NO, some delegates have to remain committed through the first ballot at the national convention, depending on the state those committed delegates may either become uncommitted, or reassigned at their state convention. Most state conventions occurr after the final primary so most of those will go to the front runner.

In several counties in Texas, they changed the rule that you can now vote at any polling place in the county versus having to go to your precinct. Dallas county bought enough voting machines with a paper trail to outfit all the master locations as well as early voting.
glennlab replies on Mar 2, 2020:
@MichelleGar1 With the exception of Amirillo, all the major cities in Texas are democratic stongholds, which is the reason the legislature pairs a small sliver of a metro area with a huge rural area to make republican districts, then they carve out a 90% democratic district to keep their voice down to just one rep versus the 4 if the districts were fairly drawn.

glennlab replies on Mar 2, 2020:
@MichelleGar1 Most of the heavily democratic counties have gone to"vote at any location county wide". We had had several precincts that were understaffed due to a lack of workers here in dallas county so that will allow overflow to go anywhere in the county to vote. It will also solve the problem of people showing up at the wrong precinct right before the polls close and not being able to vote.
Sure. That's how it got there.

Well, Bernie is still ahead in the delegate count, and in position to do well on Super Tuesday.
glennlab comments on Mar 1, 2020:
The thing that Bernie has going for him is the 15% rule. In Texas and California that could make a big difference since most of the other candidates aren't polling above 15%.
glennlab replies on Mar 1, 2020:
@TomMcGiverin Biden is the competition, only he and Bernie are polling above 15% in all of the Super Tuesday states. This means that all the delegates will be split between them if that holds, it is not uncommon for the nominee to not be chosen before late May or early June. There are plenty more deals to be made. We have less than 150 delegates chosen out of nearly 4000 (1996 is the magic number for first ballot nomination) Wednesday my story may change,

glennlab replies on Feb 29, 2020:
@Donotbelieve I'm going to the Asian market in the morning to see what fruits they have that are almost too ripe. I have a new kit that will make 2 -1 gallon batches, I usually do 2-4 5 gallon batches, but my pomgranite trees all died back due to a hard freeze. From the 4 trees I would get about 300 pounds of fruit, so the only way to use it before it rotted was give as much away as possible, eat all that I could, freeze a bunch for juice and make a shit ton of wine. Over the years I've made grape, elderberry, dewberry, blackberry, plum, appricot, pomgranite, and a few attempts at apple cider. I failed at making persimmon, so 5 gallons went into the compost heap. All the others turned out at least ok with some being fantastic. The weather is getting warm enough here for the yeast to thrive. It's kind of funny, the only time i buy salt is when I make wine, and by the time I need it again, the salt is impossible to use.

glennlab replies on Feb 29, 2020:
@TheGreatShadow Hemp does not grow true from seed. There can be radical cross pollenation, if anyone with in several miles is growing pot, you could have seeds that are much stonger than the mother plant. I make my CBD from crystal that has been refined and tested to have less than.0001% THC, that is as good as the current test can go. It is cosidered phama grade. I'm going to be placing an order in the next couple of weeks, let me know if you'd like me to add some to my order. I use 1000mg/30 ml myself. a bottle lasts about a month.
