The first debate was between two presumptive nominees, neither was the official nominee of their party. As the presumptive nominee she has every right to challenge the orange turd to a debate. The states hold their individual conventions, then send their delegates to the national convention where the nominee is officially chosen. As far as Harris ever being a "Border Czar" There’s just one problem. The vice president was never in charge of the border. That job belongs to Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, and to Xavier Becerra, the secretary of health and human services.

Like I said if you don't understand the process, STFU. The DNC has never held primaries, only the states may hold primaries and all 50 states and the 7 territories have held theirs, as well as their state conventions. Several of us have held supplemental conventions to nominate Harris giving her over 2500 pledged delegates. Kennedy couldn't get beyond the 3% needed to continue on race and withdrew from the Democratic primary on October 9, 2023. Learn the facts before you open your fucking mouth.

Most businesses don't pay property taxes for the first 10-20 years after they move to Texas. They can get even more incentives on top of that. They know that all they have to do is bribe a few politicians and they can get their tax breaks extended by threatening to relocate. There are so many loopholes it looks like Swiss cheese. International travel from most international airports except those on the coasts require connections. Air travel out of Texas is excellent to most anywhere in the country.

@zeuser One in particular comes to mind, the Highlands acid pits, or as we called them, the pits. These were the dugout pits near the San Jacinto River where the acid waste from oil refining were dumped. Once they were abandoned, the acid formed a rubber like skin over an inch thick and the pits filled with about 6-8 feet of water. We'd go swimming in them, and bounce off the bottom like it was a trampoline. Some of the older kids would chew the tar like rubber for the high they got, and most ended up with cancers later in life. The oil patch was dangerous even for those that didn't work in it. These pits were less than a quarter mile to the river and were frequently flooded .

@SpikeTalon I think that we agree more than we disagree. Monopolies can, do and must exist under all economic systems for efficiency. It would be cost prohibitive to have separate power lines, water lines, and sewer lines for instance. Those are natural monopolies, and should either be government owned or closely controlled to stop abuse. The other non natural monopolies must be highly regulated, so that they don't use their power to keep other smaller entities from entering the marketplace. I would say the root problem is greed, by the ones at the top be they corporate or government. I think vigorous enforcement of ethics and lobbying laws along with term limits for judges, congress members, and lobbyist. Punishments for accepting or offering bribes, gifts, or gratuities over a certain $$ amount from anyone outside your family . Apply this law to all relatives that live in the same household. As far as journalism goes, the first time I got a piece back from my editor, I thought he had bled on the page there were so many red marks on it. It took 4 rewrites before it was ready for publication. I was used to public speaking, but print communication is inverted in that you try to present your most important point in the first sentence, then flesh it out, while in public speaking, you build the body before the reveal.
