I am here for community only. I would like to meet new people for friendship and discussions. I'm not interested in hookups or relationships although meeting local friends for coffee or lunch is a possibility.

I'm an animal lover and a vegan. I love to dance, and have danced many different styles over the years. I enjoy traveling, reading, photography, listening to music, and being active in general. My taste in everything is eclectic. I would enjoy discussing any topic other than politics.

Currently, everything is on the back burner because I'm growing my business. I own and run a pet boarding facility, which just opened recently. Although my background is in academia, I find myself enjoying working with animals a whole lot more.

I'm pretty easy going, so say hi if you like.

All sounds great, until jasmine rice, which I despise. Lol. But the stir fry looks great. I love making stir frys too. Simple and you can throw in whatever you’ve got available.

14 Elite Athletes who are Vegans
graceylou comments on Feb 22, 2019:
Yay!! Meaghan Duhamel is on the list. I love her and follow her!!!! I like to see what vegan athletes eat (a bit stalkerish in that sense). And I watched this earlier and was very impressed: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2156349657736441 To add, it seems the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) is starting to wage war on vegan/plant-based food producers/retailers. The latest is a war on the word "cheese" as in vegan cheese. It's really not a wonder that the CFIA is heavily influenced by the meat and dairy industries.
What's your generation? What do you think about the generation before yours?

I overheard men discussing yoga pants on women are disgusting.
graceylou comments on Dec 18, 2018:
UGH. I despise people being judgemental over others' appearances. Who cares? Mind your own business. Don't like it, then don't look. I can understand being critical if someone dresses inappropriately (on purpose or due to lack of respect) for an occasion/event/work environment that calls for a certain dress code. I only wear yoga pants for dance and fitness classes, and may have them on while running around out there before and after. I don't necessarily consider them daily wear, but I don't care if other women do. They can wear whatever they want.
This is me. What about you?

Here’s a question for those of you who love and listen to music.
graceylou comments on Aug 9, 2020:
Sounding great live is definitely a plus. I wish A-ha would do a concert here but I don't recall ever having heard of them touring in my area in recent years. Michael Buble sounds amazing live, even better than his recordings. He doesn't need musical accompaniment or even a mic for that matter. The best live voice I've heard though....Adam Lambert. Then again, he IS primarily a live performer. He lives for the stage. Simon LeBon (of Duran Duran) and Bryan Adams both sound great live even at their age. Bryan Adams sounds exactly the same as he was back in his 20s and 30s. Simon, I like his current mature voice even better. I'd love to see Myles Kennedy live in concert. I've seen numerous videos of his live performances. The man's voice is flawless.
This kid is amazing. so talented for such a young age. his performance blew me away. [youtu.be]

Wow, that statement seems pretty silly to me. I find both men and women often struggle to get any kind of sex, whether in a relationship or casual. I never look for casual sex myself but I've had more guys hit me up looking for a relationship (that dumb stalkerish love-at-first sight sort of crap) rather than just casual encounters. May be just that bunch of young guys in a big SUV who wanted me to get into the vehicle with them for some fun. Yeah, no thanks.

Why do men want younger women?
graceylou comments on Jul 4, 2018:
I don't know, but I'm glad they do. I adore much older men. But younger men have pursued me as well, and they tell me they prefer mature women. Now I've got one of each and that makes me a happy woman.
Michael Buble - I loved his concert at the O2 Arena in London.

WHAT TEAMS DO YOU HATE AND WHY?
graceylou comments on Feb 3, 2019:

I also don't like The Penguins (can't stand Sidney Crosby), The Flames (battle of Alberta, you know), and The Red Wings (they just play like thugs and brutes).

graceylou comments on Aug 30, 2019:
I used to enjoy traveling to the US for vacations because it's close enough for me in case of emergencies at home. I haven't been back there since Trump took over. In the past, I've gotten pulled out of flight boarding lineups to be checked, until I showed them my Canadian passport and they let me go. I travel alone sometimes, and once I got stuck at customs (US Customs is right at the airports in Canada so you go through customs even before flying out) and the officer kept asking me over and over and over again if I had a "friend" where I was going (I was heading to Santa Fe to do photography with my new fancy ass camera). Being Asian or whatever minority (my skin gets much darker in the summer) traveling alone, I could be smuggling drugs, you know, for my "friend". Of course, I had my Canadian passport, proof that I paid for my tickets including for a return flight, booked my hotel as well as my tours, etc. Didn't matter. I've also been stopped at the border while traveling by car and was made to fill in papers and answer questions, sign forms saying that I would not attempt to try to live in the US (I live in Canada, and am a Canadian citizen, why on earth would I want to live in the US?!?!?!?!). All this was before Trump. I don't even want to know the kinds of things I might face going into the US these days. I don't want to know. BTW, I actually love Louisiana. I want to go back to New Orleans and surroundings again so badly.
The sign at one of the churches in town says “God loves you whether you like it or not”.
graceylou comments on Jul 16, 2018:
This is the only church in town that puts up signs with sayings other than just worship times and special events. Some of the things that they put up make irate. They get pretty aggressive, and some are somewhat sexist in my opinion (something to do with men are this and women are that, or mothers are this and fathers are that). Unfortunately, I have to drive past this church on the way to and from work. UGH.

Hey, Burger King, you really want to sell these?
graceylou comments on Jul 25, 2019:
I personally wouldn't eat it unless it's the only thing available and I'm deathly starved (eg. like if I'm stuck at an airport with few options for food). I wouldn't eat it if it tastes (or looks) like the real thing. And yes, all plant-based alternatives at many of the fast food places are way overpriced. They are overpriced buying them from a grocery store to cook yourself It's odd seeing posts about how healthy or not healthy these alternatives are compared to real meat. It's burgers, for dog's sake!!!! Burgers at fast food joints. No one goes to fast food joints eating burgers expecting health food. I do know many vegans who do eat them and that's fine. I don't (I had a Beyond Burger at A&W once and it was horrid, and was $7.99 but we got half price coupons). My omni SO liked it a lot. I prefer to make my own veggie/bean patties from scratch at home. That said, these veggie alternatives at fast food joints and restaurants tend to sell out very quickly despite the high prices.

Have you, or will you put up a tree this year?
graceylou comments on Dec 20, 2018:
I used to get excited over Christmas in the past but the last few years it has been meh. I'm not putting up a tree or decorating the house this year because we are hardly at the house. We did decorate the office at our business mainly for the clients but no tree because it could be disastrous with the dogs that come in. And, we are working all through the holidays even Christmas and New Years (heck, we work everyday of the year).
What makes you happy?
graceylou comments on Feb 7, 2019:
Dance. Music I can dance to. And of course, animals (although they can drive me crazy too sometimes). I can probably now say also cooking and baking, which I used to hate.

For you seasoned travelers out there, do you have any suggestions on a good site or app for shopping...
graceylou comments on Sep 16, 2019:
For flights only I usually book directly through the airline's site. I check several airlines, and look for seat sales or the most economical time/date to fly if that is pretty flexible. For flight, hotel, and more, I use Expedia. I've used some other sites and was always unsure if it's legit or I've had issues getting all the info and documents I need. I may not get the cheapest prices but at least I know I'm really getting what I booked.
Surprising truths about legalizing cannabis | Ben Cort | TEDxMileHigh - YouTube
graceylou comments on Sep 18, 2019:
Cannabis is legal in my country but I don't think we have any statistics yet on the effects of legalization. It's heavily government controlled from production to dispensing to consumption. The public is a little confused as to the laws because some pertinent laws are federal, some provincial, and some municipal. The result has been people getting caught breaking laws they didn't know about or were confused about. Oh, and the number of pets brought to vets for cannabis ingestion/poisoning has increased. It will be interesting to see where all this goes in the future.

graceylou comments on Jul 19, 2018:
My next tattoo will be a dragonfly on my belly upper abdomen area. It’s a ticklish sensitive area for me so I’ve left it bare all this time. My next one after that will be one or more starfish on my elbow continuing my shark half sleeve ocean scene. The elbow is supposed to be one of the most painful places for a tattoo. Saying "You're too fat" is rude. "You're too thin" is okay?
graceylou comments on Sep 1, 2019:
Either comment is not needed or appropriate, especially in situations where one’s appearance is not relevant. I’ve gotten, “Don’t you eat?” , a few times. I’m not even that skinny. Well, yes, in fact I’m a bottomless pit when it comes to eating. Something I hate the most hearing about is the concept of “real women”. Apparently women who are fit, athletic, model-like, etc. are not considered “real women”. Most of my friends, clients, relatives, are not of my body type and I’m often made to feel like I’m not “normal”. Many assumptions are made about my abilities (eg. I must not be able to lift heavy things). My former boss mentioned to someone that she worried a little 100 lbs thing like me wouldn’t be able to lift a big old dog who kept soiling himself into the tub to wash. I’m actually closer to 120 lbs (a lot of muscle weight) and I can lift 100 lbs if I have to. If there’s anything I truly despise it’s people being judgmental about another person’s appearance!!!

How young is too young for a tattoo?
graceylou comments on Dec 2, 2018:
I would agree that at 18 it's his decision. And like others have said, make sure he's sure of the design and he goes to a reputable tattoo studio/artist. You get what you pay for as well. Normally, small simpler tattoos get relegated to apprentices at tattoo studios. Not saying apprentices are terrible but he may want a more experienced tattoo artist for better quality. Tattoos really are not as permanent as most people think. Tattoo removal is quite common these days. Blurred aged tattoos can also be touched up years later and tattoos you are not happy with can be redone in a different way (coverups are a common thing as well). You have tattoos so I would guess that you already know all that. And since you have tattoos you can help him make sure that the aftercare is done correctly.

graceylou comments on Sep 24, 2018:
I had my nipples pierced and my belly button pierced at the same time. Man, I must like pain. I enjoyed my piercings while I had them because they were pretty with the jewelry but they were such a hassle to maintain. They got bumped and caught on everything (especially if I had barbells in so changed to rings). Finally gave them up after about maybe 3 years or so.
