@MissKathleen Because my hair is black I would have to have it bleached to change the colour. I did have my hair streaked fuchsia pink once and found the bleaching to be very damaging. It took me awhile to get my hair back to normal. Also my hair grows very fast so it doesn’t take long to grow my colour out.

graceylou replies on Sep 15, 2018:
@zesty A large percentage of the world's cultures at least traditionally/historically are/were polygamous. Even where there is/was monogamy dictated (in terms of marriage), it has been accepted that people would have partners on the side (mistresses, concubines, or whatever else they might be called). Even the idea of marriage is often put forward as based on religion. But for the most part, it is more for political and economic reasons, though religion may be tacked onto it. In Kwakiutl culture traditionally tribal chiefs would marry each other's daughter to cement alliances. If a chief did not have a daughter, he could declare his arm or leg or whatever body part as a woman and the other chief could marry "her". I might consider having a monogamous relationship with someone's body part without having to have a relationship with the rest of his/her body. LOL.

Yes, they can be paid by all or any of them. When I was still doing Archaeology, I worked for universities doing teaching and assisting in a field school. I did archaeological/historic survey work for the Yukon Government. I had a grant from the Canadian Circumpolar Institute for my research above the Arctic circle. When I was a grad student, most students in Archaeology ended up working for Archaeological survey companies because that work was most in demand at the time. If I had stayed in that field, I probably would be doing survey work up north in the Arctic. To add to Aivery's comment about Anthropologists, there are also Forensic Anthropologists who work for police departments or the coroner's office.

Are there any one here interested in English grammar or phonetics or both?
graceylou comments on Sep 9, 2018:
English grammar? I'm sure most of us would be interested in it in order to use it to communicate here. Phonetics? I love phonetics. I studied Linguistics.
graceylou replies on Sep 10, 2018:
@Noyi Really? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that. I would guess because many languages share common grammatical forms and there is often interference from one’s native language to the second language in terms of grammatical forms from the native language being used with vocabulary from the second language. This type of interference might be common among a number of different languages so to the learner it makes sense while the correct grammar spoken by the native speaker might sound odd. For example, in a lot of languages articles are missing (the, a, an, etc.). Often articles are missing from the English of learners because they are missing in their own native languages. The English of learners might also be a lot simpler because they are only basic. I don’t know the real reasons. I’m just postulating.

I think they're fighting as in the ancient Olympics. They would fight naked. In this image it appears he is about to break the other man's arm while biting his jugular. Ancient deathmatch

@StrongHappySilly Certainly does have that gladiator sort of feel to it. Almost mythological.

@graceylou thank you for posting, this is such an infectious song. Yes, I also supported him when he held up the sign that read ALL Lives Matter ... and I believe The Tenors has lost a vital element when the group reacted by voting him out. Such a pity. Lucky you for having heard him live!
graceylou replies on Sep 9, 2018:
He is a man who promotes peace and love. Why would he get so much hate I don’t understand. I didn’t do the meet and greet that time and I should have.

Wonderful! I can see why you love him. Great setting as well. You must post more of him.
graceylou replies on Sep 9, 2018:
Remi mainly played the guitar in the concert and also in their duet album, so this was the only thing I heard him sing live. The video did not do him justice. His voice is so powerful he could bring the theater down. I think we all had chills running through our bodies. He's also such a nice guy, and hilariously funny.
What is your favorite place you've ever lived?
graceylou comments on Sep 8, 2018:
None of the places I've lived at so far. I grew up in the Vancouver (BC) area, and most people would say how beautiful Vancouver is. Ugh, not if you live there. Rainy, gloomy days most of the year, high crime and drug use rates, crowding, high cost of living, terrible transportation system. It's ...
graceylou replies on Sep 9, 2018:
@Stephanie99 Yup my parents live there. My brothers too. That would be the only reason I go there. Yes, and some of my friends from childhood as well. My parents still live in the same house they bought for the family in 1983. They are in the process of selling it now because they need to move to a care home soon.

@Olnoseven I’ve never been to Austin but was told it’s a great place to visit. My favourite store is Boutique du Vampyre in New Orleans. It’s a similar sort of store. I love curiosities, oddities, the vampire lore, carnival/freaks and geeks stuff.

@graceylou Is it the fight you like, two men fighting for your favors? That might destroy a poly relationship.

I believe the gentleman on the left is supposed to be a vampire with his subdued and willing victim on the right. So I don't think it would be a problem for my poly relationship.

I'm leaning more towards the idea that the knee is there for support......while the demon/vampire drains the life out of you. Not that I believe in demons or vampires but I enjoy dark, gothic, etc. ideas and imagery.

@Stephanie99 I lived there from 1983 to 1997. My parents bought their house for around $200,000 in 1983. Now that same house is worth around 1.25 million. Actually that is just the property value because the house is old and falling apart. If the house is fixed up or in good order it would be worth a lot more.
