Where do you prefer to be beach or mountain?
indirect76 comments on Sep 24, 2018:
The beach is closely associated with the sun, which give off deadly radiation. Mountain please.
What does everyone think about sexbots?
indirect76 comments on Sep 24, 2018:
I would not recommend. I used one of these robots and it malfunction. The guy at the desk said that the wankel rotary engine dislodged and exposed my private region to Sophie’s metallic inner-workings. My doctor called it the worst ‘de-gloving’ she had ever seen. All I know is that it felt awful and I’m still raw & stingy down there. Overall 2/5 stars. Will not be returning.

Why do young guys think sarcasm is positive?
indirect76 comments on Sep 21, 2018:
I thought sarcasm is when you say the opposite of what you mean. Like when people say, ‘oh great’ about something negative. It’s often not funny, but can be hilarious if used sparingly and crafted well. I see no harm in it the way I use the word.

Societal religiosity has fostered this notion that sex is this holy spiritual enactment.

Boy Scouts?
indirect76 comments on Sep 14, 2018:
I was in scouts when I was a kid. Both my parents were athiest, and I was too, kind of. I had a great time and came out with the same view on god as I did entering it. I recall no mention of god or faith. I don’t know if the experience is the same today, but that was mine. I would say let him go.
Has a certain song ever sounded faster than usual to you on the radio?
indirect76 comments on Sep 14, 2018:
Yes. This is caused by the Doppler effect. When traveling in your car the music can sound faster if you are traveling towards the radio station. Alternatively, the music can sound slower if you are traveling away from the station. You will have to be driving very fast for this to be noticeable, like over 100 mph.
I am 48.

indirect76 comments on Sep 7, 2018:
Outside of weddings and funerals, I had never really been in a church in my life. For a period maybe a decade ago I would go with a close friend to his church just to check it out. It was only a handful of times. I felt a bit alien, then a bit bored. There were nice people. I indulged my curiosity and moved on.

indirect76 comments on Sep 6, 2018:
Unless asked directly, I don’t tell people about my non-belief, even if people are talking about religion(as extremely rare as that is). It’s like if two friends were talking about jazz, and I’m not into jazz. I don’t jump in and say I don’t like jazz. I have nothing to contribute to the discussion.
Early this week, two of my close family members passed away within 24 hours of each other.
indirect76 comments on Sep 6, 2018:
Yeah, in a way I’d like to be able to believe in such things for comfort. I have to say, I don’t really understand why religious people should grieve at all. If you truly believe your loved one is in heaven, then what’s there to grieve about? Seems like doing so kind of exposes your doubts.
I'm Agnostic. Not an atheist... Did you come to the right place?
indirect76 comments on Sep 6, 2018:
Perhaps you can expand on your uses of the words agnostic and athiest. A discussion about ideas is far more engaging than a discussion about words.
Flashing lights..
indirect76 comments on Sep 5, 2018:
I stay pretty relaxed. Every time I’ve seen the flashing lights, I know what it’s for. I’m polite and respectful. If it’s on the highway and an exit is not too far, I give a wave to the officer and pull over on the offramo. When asked if I know why I’m being pulled over, I own up to it. It doesn’t always work out, but I’ve been cut loose with a warning many, many time with this strategy.

Curious about others' path toward atheism.
indirect76 comments on Sep 5, 2018:
I was brought up athiest. Meaning, our family didn’t go to church. Didn’t discuss it. We had Christmas presents and Easter baskets, but none of the nonsense. So I’ve always been fairly comfortable with it. I was aware of Christianity of course, but I recall around the age of 8-9 hearing about other religions and that convinced me that all religions were probably bullshit.
How would you handle this?
indirect76 comments on Sep 4, 2018:

Robot Rights
indirect76 comments on Aug 30, 2018:
A more interesting question is how one would go about testing a robot for those qualities(emotions, desires, curiosity, etc...). These are qualities that are ultimately first hand. Most of us assume that other humans possess them as well, but I don’t think we can extend the same courtesy to machines of our own making. But to answer your question, of course they should have human rights.
