Does anybody else here think that your atheism/agnosticism is actually a pretty uninteresting part ...
indirect76 comments on Apr 13, 2018:
Yes. The fact that I’m an atheist is boring as all get out and not something I think of as far as my identity. Further, if I were to become religious tomorrow, I would basically be the same person.

What’s your views on the death penalty laws?
indirect76 comments on Apr 12, 2018:
I believe there are acts for which people deserve death. I do not believe we can properly and fairly administer that kind of justice without error. I also believe life in prison is worse than death. So I’m against the death penalty.

Should all drugs be legalized?
indirect76 comments on Apr 12, 2018:
Legalize and regulate all drugs. Addendum: Everyone has probably heard that marijuana is legal in Colorado, but what you probably haven’t heard about is how the crime rates in that state have sharply increased, how child protective services has been swamped with cases and how graduation rates have plummeted. You haven’t heard about those things because they didn’t happen.

Such a hang up on death we humans have. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for ethical treatment of the animals I eat, but life... it’s predicated on death. It’s admirable that people want to reduce harm on other living things, but I think we have an odd way of viewing death as absolutely bad. Do you think animals comprehend death as much as we do?

I’ve no idea what site it is, but you don’t have a right to be a member there or use their platform for your speech. I mean, honestly, what were you trying to accomplish? Was this an attempt to opening a civil dialog? No. It’s an antagonistic post meant to ruffle feathers. It does nothing good for us. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I believe people should never be offended. Sometimes the firebrand approach is an effective tool, but I’m willing to bet nobody would bat an eye at some holy roller getting banned from here for posting similarly insulting comics. Can we have a civil conversation about American policy without getting emotional?
indirect76 comments on Apr 10, 2018:
Civil discourse seems to be a lost art these days. I tend to be apolitical, but mostly because I’m just not interested. Though, I do find your support of Trump interesting because you don’t fit the mold of the popular idea of a typical supporter (white, male). I supppose that illustrates a bias and prejudice I have that I always like to pretend isn’t there. But, back to the subject at hand, I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Trump, but it’s always important to me to be civil with folks. I also like hearing the other side. You never know when someone will enlighten your mind.

My quick blurb on Pascal's Wager (one side of the argument)
indirect76 comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Pascal’s Wager breaks down in so many ways. It assumes there is a binary choice of belief vs non belief. There are many gods to choose from, which one do I believe in? Believing in one can piss of the real one. What if simply believing in one is wrong because polytheism is true? Even if it were a simple binary choice, who’s to say that the one and true god is testing for gullibility and sending believers to hell for believing in something with no good evidence?
Texas Bill Prohibiting Male Masturbation Moves Closer To Becoming Law
indirect76 comments on Apr 9, 2018:
A lot of people comment without reading the linked article, making their comment fairly irrelevant. I like the statement that the proposed law is trying to say. Though, I don’t think proposing legislation is a proper way to say something, especially when, as demonstrated in this thread, lots of people will take it at face value and miss the point entirely.

Tract on Agnosticism
indirect76 comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I don’t know how one would even go about ‘proving’ agnosticism. The whole idea seems flawed to me. It’s such a broad concept because there are so many definitions of what a god is. The pastebin is a very long winded logical analysis and I think the author is trying to prove antitheism. For an agnostic or atheist, all you have to say is that there is no compelling evidence. Done.
