And so to the semi's France v Belgium - Should be a good one, lots of excellent players on view. As for a winner............I don't really mind to be honest but I think it will be France, I just have this sneaky notion that Belgium's defeat of Brazil is the pinnacle for them and I'm not convinced with Martinez' tactical nouse, most of us could manage this Belgium side. Croatia v England - As much as I like to think I can be objective............here's hoping that; two penalty shoot outs in a row have shredded Croatia, that they peaked when they beat Argentina, Pickford plays another blinder (if he has to), Sterling scores, Kane gets a hat-trick, we don't lose at all but especially on penalties :-)

Men/Women, Is sex a requirement for an enjoyable romantic relationship?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 9, 2018:
I can't speak for others but sex would have to be part of a marriage, it may not be the prime factor but it's got to be there and enjoyed on a regular basis by both parties :-)
MEN: What would your reason be for asking a woman what she does for a living, upon meeting her?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 9, 2018:
Just an ice breaker really, not intrusive but shows an interest. I don't think it's any deeper than that. Although if I met a woman in a wet suit playing a banjo I would ask 'What the fuck do you do for a living?' :-)
Just do it.

What small act of kindness was once shown to you that you'll never forget?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 9, 2018:
Ok, this sounds a bit heavy to start with but it's not. My dad was in hospital and on his last legs. It had been arranged for there to be a meeting to discuss 'do not resuss' but before we could have the meeting my dad went into cardiac arrest so the Crash Team set about their work, it also transpired that their was a training session going on with junior doctors re how the Crash Team worked so we had the A Team on Crash duty. They kept my old man going long enough for me and my mum to get to the hospital. The really cool bit though was quite a few months later. I was working at the hospital where my dad died, I was during the above as well, and was scheduled to do CPR training, the guy taking the course took me to one side before we started and asked if I was ok doing this. I asked him why and he said he was on the crash team that tried to save my dad and wanted to make sure I was cool with everything. We exchanged a little Red Dwarf moment when I emailed him to thank him. which won't make sense to most people that read this so I'll leave it out, but that was a good moment :-)

ipdg77 comments on Jul 9, 2018:
In the nicest possible way it won't make any difference and I don't care. I suppose it may add to the information but people could put down any old charlie and nobody would know. It could also been fairly meaningless, someone may think that their sex drive has diminished, old age? but meet the right person and they're humping like a jack rabbit....who's to say. And one person's dirty old man is another persons fuck bunny. It adds to the stereotypical (not meant as a criticism) dating site questions look for those that are here for dating but yeah go ahead, if people don't want to answer they won't :-)

I could write a book on this................................but I won't :-) If I am in a cathedral and a famous tomb is there I can be moved by the architecture, the will and determination of those that built it, the splendour, the history, the moment in time but nothing god(s) related. The 'moving' is my own personal take on it, it's not an external spiritual influence

Is 'Athephobia' a real thing
ipdg77 comments on Jul 6, 2018:
Athephobia is totally made up. What does Athe mean? So an irrational fear of god, not the stupid god fearing bollocks of the religious, is Theophobia so does that therefore mean that Atheophobia is a fear of no god? You can't have an irrational fear of an atheist until they tell that they one, we don't look any different, other than rolling our eyes a bit more often, so what's the fear of? You have a fear of someone, but your not sure who, who doesn't believe in your god but not a fear of someone who doesn't believe in the same gods you don't believe in? And is it specific to atheists, surely we could contrive something for agnostics although the word soup necessary is not worth the effort. It's utter tripe and should be given no credence whatsoever.
So here's a question: Name the song you want played at your funeral and why. Me?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 6, 2018:
This is my choice, hopefully my final wishes will be respected but one never knows, at least I won't be in a position to complain about it. This will just about sum up my thoughts, firstly that I'm dead, although if I am aware of this fact I will be pleasantly surprised unless of course I'm hurtling downwards in which case I was wrong and this track will still apply. And secondly, I've got to go to a funeral, never the cheeriest of events, but it will be the last one that I attend. There is of course the chance, and one that I hope to keep on proving, that I am in fact immortal and this is an academic exercise https://youtu.be/sA2NcRhnkfQ

Meaning of existence
ipdg77 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
Maybe the whole purpose of being is just to make your own little corner of existence a tiny bit better than how you found it. To what end, who knows?. Perhaps the meaning of our existence is to be witness to the universe. If there was no life in the universe what would be the point of it.
Who was your favorite teacher and why were they so special, or unique, or memorable to you?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
From school I don't have one, the best I can say is some were ok and I fancied one of the female teachers but school didn't inspire me. At college, as a mature student in my late 30s and early 40s, what really made an impression was a tutor or lecturer's passion about what they were talking about.

Most admired human being in your lifetime
ipdg77 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
It really is a difficult one. Even the 'greats' were flawed in some way and quite often have a situation thrust upon them to which they responded magnificently, Churchill being the person who came to mind while writing this. The other problem, for me at least, is not knowing enough, or indeed anything, about a person so my impression is based on very little but in recent years Christopher Hitchins, when I finally came across him, seem to articulate exactly what i was thinking about religion but in a far better way, and then from being exposed to him came Harris, Dawkins, Dennett et al. I would also include Thomas Payne here as well although it's his legacy that is in my lifetime. Closer to home people like my brother, an outward persona of grumpy old sod, but a man who has dealt with personal tragedy and difficulties with a fortitude, common sense and humour that is admirable. I would also give someone like Wenn Lawson a mention, you may need to look him up, an autistic guy who's life story is remarkable and he travels the world educating people on the condition. And he's a really nice bloke as well. Btw, nice question with some terrific (and slightly odd) answers :-)
What is the main reason why you became a non-beliver or a believer of anything spiritual?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
From as early as I can remember, I was brought up a Catholic, none of what I was being told or taught stood up to any sort of scrutiny if you questioned it or tried to rationalise it.
What nonbelievers do you remember from TV growing up?
ipdg77 comments on Jul 1, 2018:
On this side of the pond it isn't quite the same issue but I suppose Dave Allen was obviously questioning/ridiculing the whole religious thing especially given his Catholic upbringing.

ipdg77 comments on Jun 30, 2018:
No I don't think so. They've had their royalties from the initial sale, selling it on spreads the word, like advertising, so I may pick up a cheapy from a boot sale to have a listen which may then inspire me to buy other music. Don't think any artist would mind that :-)

ipdg77 comments on Jun 28, 2018:
As appears to be the norm work has got in the way of exclusive World Cup watching but needs must. I have to say it has been a most entertaining world cup with perhaps only one snore draw, Denmark v France. The word schadenfreude has been seen and heard a lot in England since yesterdays result, not for me to comment though. Belgium have just taken the lead against England, it really doesn't matter who wins and being second appears, on paper at least, an 'easier' route. We shall see. The VAR system has for the most part been ok, yes it delays things a bit but does add to the drama, but it's a work in progress, probably shouldn't be at a tournament they should have sorted it before now but most of the decisions appear to correct, if eventually lol After the finish today better get some Round of 16 predictions in :-)

So what happened today in the world cup. Brazil got by Costa Rico, they obviously deserved to win but would have loved it if Costa Rico could have hung on for a point and a massive upset. As good as Brazil can be and as amazing as their history is I do get totally fed up with commentators constantly eulogizing about every breathe they take, although this may be a British commentator thing. Iceland probably blew their chance of getting thru but Argentina still need a bit of a miracle and they were atrocious against Croatia particularly in the second half. Which means if Nigeria have their mojo working they'll be a handful for anyone. And the Swiss did well to come back against Serbia, left it late but that seems to be a trend at this world cup :-) Looks like Mexico, Germany and Belgium tomorrow but, as always, upsets are welcome :-)
