Atheists Are Brainwashed By The Scientific Method
jacpod comments on Feb 14, 2018:
How does that work if I am an artist and haven't a scientific bone in my body and I can reassure you that I am a truly happy soul and it does rather seem that you are the one spreading the misery here - I am sorry for that theres a whole beautiful world out there to play - try to stop your moping and play in it.

jacpod comments on Jun 1, 2018:
Yes, Our Lovely, its times we live in these are the hardest times I have ever known and they are draining for those of us who have known easier times - and care about it all, The only way through for me is the braver face, the caring for others who are also feeling the same and somehow knowing that it has to be lived thourhg and that most things do have an end point whether we can see it right now or not. (I think we are all probably with you on the bullshit)
What has been your experience, as an atheist, in a commitment with a person of faith?
jacpod comments on Mar 14, 2018:
My partner is atheist as am I - I can see the problem but seems only a problem if converting someone is part of the mix if you can love each other as you are without wanting change you have it made! I have had in the past people crying at me that htey dont want me to die and not go to heaven with them - Its a big turn off and doesnt work.

I'll be 75 I imagine my back will be worse and I'll have to be braver about that - I am an artist so as long as my hands dont give up the ghost I'll be able to still make my sculptures and play around with different materials - At the moment I do a lot of washing ironing and mending for money for charity - When I get to £100.00 I ask anyone where they want to to go to - Thats something that keeps me busy and active.I do enjoy watching crime serials on T.V and love reading so hopefully htere will always be something to amuse me .

Good idea! I am for it and maybe we should have the opposite too as I am sure some men must be plagued by women talking about mens issues. We are all just humans in my book and deserve exactly the same respect and if they go past that point what consequences could there be? I have walked away and stopped talking ot an old man who was treating me like a little girl when I am 70 plus but if hte boot was on the other foot I would make sure I wasnt being intrusive.

jacpod comments on Jun 22, 2018:
yes - I don't really feel that I dwell on being amongst non- believers, (even though I am) - I feel i am amongst people who are freer to tell their truths show their stuff - reveal themselves because there is no one hassling for a different reality. No I only come to this site, although I have many friends locally who are non believers and we can have a laugh (because I live in Northern Ireland and it gets pretty hot at times with Parades and burning 'Paddy' on enormous bonfires !
Is love the motivator of empathy or is empathy the motivator of love?
jacpod comments on Jul 11, 2018:
the answer to this for me is it depends as there will be so many more emotions in the mix that attach to love and empathy- I enjoy my self love when it arrives and I guess for me different feelings are rising adn falling constantly some harmoniously some not and how I respond is different each time. and each situations. I think that is what is interesting about being alive and having interesting times.

Do parent teacher their kids to be atheist?
jacpod comments on Mar 11, 2018:
I didnt, they knew that neither I nor their father had a god, nor any of our wider family that they came across - We moved around a lot when they were little and also lived in communes My daughter and son are now 50 and 49 y.o and I cant remember the subject ever coming up - I always let them look for themselves to find their own schools Children know better than adults I think what they are looking for because they are the ones in that school era- my daughter always nosed out the toilets and cloakrooms first my son the games facilities.

Do you think some people are luckier?
jacpod comments on Dec 26, 2017:
I think 'Not really'. Luck is something we seem to evaluate backwards in time - something happens a near shave and we might think 'boysadearie!' that was a 'lucky' escape when in reality it was an escape pure and simple and we just perceived it as lucky. Other times we perceive ourselves as unlucky when its just random and we might say "I never have any luck!" But in that moment we arent looking inside of ourselves for a more real explanation its simpler to say I am always unlucky/lucky it would be really hard ot do a complete analysis so we use the term luck (I think) in a lazy sort of way as it 'sort of' explains something to us that lets us off the hook. It wasnt anything to do with me it was lucky/unlucky.

jacpod comments on Mar 23, 2018:
This happened ot me at a time and i actually had nowhere to live, my children had left home by then, I stayed with different friends and was obsessed about always having a clean pair of knickers so I had stashes of them at the house of everyone i knew - I think having that one clear plan in my head was a focus for everything at that point ,and yes I burst into tears often but not because of my partner just lack of structure, - I was working as a lecturer in person centred counselling, so work was important - it was all the between hours that were hard not having a structure. I got over it pretty well but there are so many losses you have to grieve - Might be a good plan to list them Yes its always fine at the end but that middle bit needs a lot of cossetting I seriously wish you well!

For reason in revolt now thunders, and at last ends the age of cant! Away with all your superstitions, Servile masses, arise, arise! And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells and run my stick along the public railings and make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain and pick the flowers in other people's gardens and learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat and eat three pounds of sausages at a go or only bread and pickles for a week and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry and pay our rent and not swear in the street and set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Okay heres the rant about it Up until I reached 70y.o I was a pushover would do anything for anybody any time It was in the run up to my birthday that I began to feel that my life had been a series of abuses - being taken for granted etc. there is a man in my housing scheme who was always telling me off like a little girl - and I have D.I.D so that isnt great for me to have to deal with someone calling up an alter . I have stopped speaking to him completely now , also he shouts and drinks a lot two more of my triggers- I used ot get his papers for him every day ;now I dont and I dont go near him - there is another man in my housing scheme who attacked me - the police came and gave him an order but he still swans around acting weirdly. And so many people who take advantage of your good nature and bore you with tales about how they do your make up and hair when they can see you dont use make up or bother about hair or clothes. I'd like a new way of being that wasn't an 'ism' , some way of being that values people for who they are as well as what they do -equality would help - if no one had any more or less than anyone else and we practised caring a bit better we would still be individualists but maybe able to be a bit more caring if we were not fighting for our own place in the sun and making sure 'our' children -got more benefits out of the society.

jacpod comments on Mar 6, 2018:
Sweetie, your posts are very well put, and intelligent - I seriously love the way you come accross , gentle and kind - One of the things I like to tell myself every now and then is "What other people think and feel about me is none of my business!" there will always be people out there who feel the need to put us down because they feel threatened in some way by innocence and beauty they cannot find within themselves, but we all have to find our own way out of that mire - Consider that the people who are putting you down are only trying to put themselves up by using that technique. Ignore the pinpricks and see if you can getover them a bit faster each day - shoulder shrugging might work as if youre brushing off the unkindness. 'Nolite bastardes carborundorum'
