Why does the sea taste salty?
jacpod comments on Jun 9, 2018:
I'm sorry that too was down to me - I hate salt and only live 4 minutes from the sea so I take full responsibily for salting the seawaters.

I dont know but I imagine that coping is done in very small pigeon steps - The process of grieving is as long as a piece of string but gets infinitesimally better each day and you will cope and probably will learn something about your own strength. I am well wishing you to the n'th.

Do you believe in luck?
jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
I dont think there is any way to apportion even what is luck but its a nice word to have when someone gets something they want or need - I think the problem for me is that everything has its other side and the idea of lucky brings up the idea of being unlucky which could put you on a downer; it would be an interesting experiment to decide to take those words away and see what you get - I rather think that people who see themselves as lucky are the kind of people who would be happy anyway.
Large cow skull, 2 part apox clay, pages from Genesis.
jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
wow! Brilliant! Where I live there is a long winding tortuous walk across broken stiles etc to get to this tiny piece of beach under a cliff that you cant really call a beach but there was a disintegrating cow on it and I walked it ever day to watch the deterioration and do now have the skull which I rather treasure. I saw it as my artwork just for the measured way of watching

Manipulative vs Controlling and Sociopathy?
jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
I have only met one sociopath a woman who was incredibly controlling and extremely difficult she was a client I saw in my own home and it got so very difficult. I had to move. My partner has severe O.C.D and is not controlling over anyone or thing but himself.

jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
I think we are living in interesting times (as the chinese curse goes) There is far more pressure than there used to be because of the instability of our government not having enough of a mandate to do anything much; plus the Brexit saga and the Atos scene ; lot of fear of not being able to cope very well with no real wage increases zero hours contracts -money fear - fear for people living in high rise flats with cladding fear for people on the streets - Fear is a real downer for us all. Yes I think this much fear would make a lot of us delicate.
Do We Spend Too Much Time Looking at Screens?
jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:

Has anyone ever felt unworthy of love? I can't shake this feeling.
jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
yes I have tried to end my life many times and its only in the last 28 years that I have started to feel O.K.about myself . I think it began in childhood never being good enough an being from an abusive family never having the right gym kit always being an outsider . These days i look after myself well have good friends and have basically left the past behind somewhere but it took meeting some good people to do that.

jacpod comments on Jun 8, 2018:
There already is no reason for world hunger it is directly linked to greed - it could end today if people took only what they needed - I also regret truly the shaming of people worldwide who do not have enough of their needs met - I truly wonder what kind of societies we live under.- I have enough but I have no more than enough an dI am completely content with that why this thirst for money played out on a world stage?

Has anyone, under any circumstances, felt a compulsion to pray?
jacpod comments on Jun 6, 2018:
No I never prayed, ever, that I can remember I used to wish that people would die but that hardly counts as a prayer- which seems more like asking someone in control for an intercession. I just wished they would die and go away!
I'm a survivor, how about you???
jacpod comments on Jun 6, 2018:
yes I had totally mad parents my mother was manic my father depressed from his war experiences - and abusive - I survived to laugh and live and love for myself - left home at fifteen never looked back. I might have a brother still alive somewhere, but he got off too.
What does it really mean to love , and what does it mean to be in love with another?
jacpod comments on Jun 6, 2018:
Love for me is another of those tricky words meaning so much to so many I don't know if I label my emotions in the same ways as another/others. All I really know is that there are some people I am comfortable around, some I love to see, and its the number of negatives that makes me not want to be around others so I think for myself that maybe love is the absence of fear. I repeat htis is only my take and its only in thi s moment

Does No Kids = Bad Person?
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
People I know for whom the stork doesnt deliver usually kidnap kids to have a bit of fun with them and also be able to hand them back at the end of the day - But how could you be a bad person for not being able to have a child? Life seems to me a lottery and you have to make the most of it liking what you get rather than getting what you like . Bad people rob ,steal and murder - Childless couples are just that doesn't mean you cant make relationships with children and I feel for you and glad that love your cats- If you stop believing that you are at a disadvantage and start enjoying what is there that gives you pleasure maybe that fear will recede?
At what age did you move out?
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
Fifteen years old - My mother was bi polar mainly manic and my father depressed both were seriously damaged and abusive in different ways. I never looked back - it was hard to accept that other people were O.K. I was always reserved just in case but I was living a nice life for myself having fun at last and not being so frightened- It took me ages to realise that I really had escaped.
"We accept the love we think we deserve".
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
I feel that I have found the unconditional love that was denied me by seriously mentally unwell parents - i left home at 15 years old looking for that love and I found it in many different places and in many different ways - Now 70, and loved indeed. I think the biggest part of the process is believing that it is real and not some sort of ploy or trap.

Is Reality a Scientific Concept?
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
I think reality is different for all of us.We experience ourselves and others in such a multiplicity of ways, and change when our world view is challenged it almost seems that there is no such thing as a universal truth - I quite like that idea I can live in a world of my own making - destroy concepts of gods etc. be the author of my own undoing etc.
What is your definition of a godparent ?
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
I think I would politely decline as I have no god so wouldn't be at all suitable. In England it is usually 2 godfathers for a boy and one godmother, and for a girl the opposite. I only had one godmother and no godftather's; and she died before I got to know her so I wouldn't be in the know, and wouldn't be religious enough to fit the bill- It would be nice if there was a civil ceremony for allotting people to look out for your children.

jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
I went on my first CND march when I was thirteen years old and loved it went to every demonstration after that amazing being a part of soemthign so large with people looking out for you as well. I also wentto Churchills state funeral because my best friends mother said we would regret it if we didnt go whether we thought he was okay or not it would be a state occasion. I fond being part of a big crowd really an intense experience even if you are not all there for the same purpose

Devided by a "common" language "C--t"::: As a broader derogatory term, it is comparable to prick...
jacpod comments on Jun 5, 2018:
Disagree about the 'c' word in England it is a part of the female anatomy and calling someone a c**t is seriously bad - In shakespearean time s it is just descriptive of a womans vagina I dont know in what age the transition of meaning took part but try not to let anyone call you a right c**t if you are in england

Relationships
jacpod comments on Jun 4, 2018:
It all depends upon the people involved and what they can cope with -If they are strong enough to allow other ideals room in the relationship or not - I apparently had a great grandfather who put a shilling by for the priest each week and a great grandmother, his wife, who bought copies of 'The Awful disclosures of Maria Monk' & threw them at him - Entertaining stories of mixed marriages, I wish I could have been an onlooker but wasnt even born then.
How do you tell religious people that you're an atheist?
jacpod comments on Jun 4, 2018:
Yes I say it but have never had an adverse reaction but hereabout with a Protestant /Catholic divide - no one is really interested in Atheists we are of no account whatsoever though i have heard some people say back to me "ah thats a shame!" I usually just laugh no none has come accross as heavy just mystified.

jacpod comments on Jun 4, 2018:

8 Signs You Might Not Be The Relationship Type & Why That's Totally OK
jacpod comments on Jun 3, 2018:
No I live a pretty quiet life gardening, handicrafts, beachcombing, & picking up litter - I rather like to be alone - though I am in a relationship its a loose one (Not Morally & we arent on the market for other partners) Just private people who come together for fun and it seems to work well for us not seeing each other all the time.
How often do you say WTF!
jacpod comments on Jun 3, 2018:
Never - It never springs to mind - I usually say a very cockney -sounding 'Wha'h? in a very sort of disbelieving way! - I go back to my east end roots for these occasions of emphasis'
Why are people stuck in relationships that are basically roommate's you pay bills with?
jacpod comments on Jun 3, 2018:
YOu said in your original bit,,' if there is no affection' 'or sex life' - I am in an extremely loving relationship and neither of us wants/needs sex. In the questions there isn't that option. I wouldn't rather be single. I really love my partner we aren't in each others pockets but live in the same sheltered housing scheme in our own flats and see each other at certain times like for dinner and later maybe to watch I -player

What is your fondest childhood memory?
jacpod comments on Jun 3, 2018:
I had a cousin Alan, and he and I would go to Lee Railway station and sit on the fence and collect train numbers, they were steam trains then and soemhow it was exciting - thinking about it now it seems a weird thing to do but we were extremely happy to see the train and waved at all the passengers who waved back. We also for some mad reason sat outside the window with our legs inside the room to watch Champion the Wonder Horse on childrens T.V . The BBC used ot close down at 6 p.m so children could be put to bed and not be bothered with the news.
I have nothing to add to this.
jacpod comments on Jun 3, 2018:
I do try but I fail often - People I am meeting these days in the reality of life seem so different to the people I knew post war and in the 60's. Our political and social life is very different now and I do fear for us - Political leaders are failing us big time. in teh U.K we have the hugest 'them and us' problem ever and it isnt racial.

Oh Maudie I have a ten second memory at best - Born in London , moved around a lot - I have been here in Northern ireland about 25 years. I am 70 years old and enjoying that fact very much. I feel as if i have reached an age where I will bend my knee to no one else ever again and will do exactly what I want to do. I don't want to harm anyone but don't want to put up with nutterguff and don't mind giving them a reality check! I don't look as old as I am which is a pity because people might stay away from me more - I am fairly well educated -three degrees- the first woman plasterer in England .Local Artist in residence -- I love gardening actually love weeding I love people underrating me I have visited lots of other countries to give talks or take classes on offer that were not available here- I feel I have lived in interesting times and been part of something that isn't here any more

jacpod comments on Jun 2, 2018:
yes I have always imagined there was an upside to all disorders- my D.I.D is sometimes what keeps me sane and grounded. It also give me a cautionary outlook I can like and love people but when they start with silliness and being pouty and all that - I can just move away - it is sometimes having a mental health disorder allows you to see people clearer and also see that mental health problems arent the only fault lines.

Should you live for today?
jacpod comments on Jun 1, 2018:
I don't do 'should's and oughts' I prefer to live my life in the moment of experience and not have too many ideas about what might be going to happen . I spent too much time fooling around in the garden today but I am not bothered I had a good time - being retired helps.
