Atheists are good or bad persons?
jacpod comments on May 31, 2018:
I ma not really interested in what other atheists do or dont do what you are saying is quite interesting to me but - 'so what!' I am an individual who has never had a god. its not of any interest to me to talk about that - other atheists are just other people some of whom I will be friends with - I have never ever sat down with another atheist friend and talked about our non belief we talk about our families what we will order at the cafe etc just like everyone else does. My athiesm is of no importance to me at all - My Life and how I live it is important and the people whom I love.

Does your workplace offer support or resources for mental illnesses?
jacpod comments on May 31, 2018:
I worked voluntarily for a mental health support group and we were really supportive of each other as well as our clients. I was also a lecturer in person centred counselling ,so ,many opportunities to co-counsel with other staff members. Before that I lived in intentional communities and again we looked out for each other- I have experienced stigma and also experienced the person most vocal against people with mental health problems having her own aha ! Moment and catching herself on when her partner went off with another woman.

How do you transition from being the center of the world, to not?
jacpod comments on May 31, 2018:
It would only be cold cruel and random for you if you were those things yourself - I am sorry that I didnt have your experience. I never had a god. But I know that I am enough to myself my experiences are real and its a fun world if you look at it with humour and intelligence - dwelling on losses I try to tune in to my own lovingkindness - giving out what is missing in my life not particularly with the intent to get anything back just to feel myself as a real person in control of my life and able to love freely whomever I want and to avoid anyone who want s to harm me . I think what is going on politcally in my world is more damaging than religion In my country people are pawns to be played and we are being kept under.

jacpod comments on May 29, 2018:
For me I think people have to evolve at their own pace and I wouldn't tear anyones security blanket from them because then it would be down to me to do something about it - I think you are right but its the process of getting there that is the problem - Like the young girl Malala? who was shot for wanting an education- getting from a to b is not that simple.

Beauty is in the eyes of humans, as an individual you decide what is beautiful and what is ugly.
jacpod comments on May 27, 2018:
I don't really think anything is ugly I do see beauty all around me and also something special about - form and line - Yesterday I saw a small cat being sick - probably a fur ball and it was interesting and a little bit frightening - I ran to tell it s owner but couldn't find her - I also remember a long time ago that someone everyone thought of as lumpy and unnattractive became really beautiful when she talked of something that had moved her.
Are you a friendly or unfriendly, atheist or theist?
jacpod comments on May 27, 2018:

jacpod comments on May 27, 2018:
I don't know - I wasnt given a story when I was growing up just weird but at least atheist abusive parents, but no narrative. I told lies all the time because I didnt know that they were lies ,When I caught myself on I stopped lying and told the truth all the time and that got me into more bother -Experimentation brought me to the point of not caring less. I would lie to save my life I would tell a truth to save my life.

Philosophy of Life

I keep busy - I still have a lot of energy and have had a good life I tend to look for things that need doing ,because I am a happy do-er ;happier than being a be-er.
What's something you finally figured out?
jacpod comments on May 26, 2018:
People! There is an expression in Northern Ireland called "Passing Yourself" It basically means lying / doing, whatever it takes to get people to behave how you want them to. (Like going away) I had a really strange family mad as hatters (not in a good way) They were abusive and mentally unwell . Left home @ 15 yrs old and I had amazing experiences because no one ever passed on any information to me about how people live & get on /or not , with each other. everyone imagines that you pick it up from your family. It has taken me a really long time to 'get it' , 70 yrs old and still not fluent. I tend to go blank all over and even run away when I don't understand what people are wanting from me, for instance, there is a guy in our housing scheme who tells stories of people who were murdered and suchlike and seems to take ghoulish pleasure in the recounting and I don't want to be any where near him but politeness gets in the way as well as realising that he isnt that bright and it would be unkind - So going round in a loop but finally getting to the place where I just make an excuse and leave. Yes passing myself 'fine".
Hello everyone.

Is it just me? Or is everyone getting Stupider at an alarming rate?
jacpod comments on May 25, 2018:
I am 70 and sometimes have a ten second memory, its good coming on here as it gets me focused but I do quite a lot in a day - gardening crafting - earning money for charity work by laundering for other residents who pay - I am not too bothered at the moment about it but might in the future get a bit more antsy if I start forgetting peoples names.
What is your favorite food or food related/sounding/evoking word?

How important is your family history or lineage to you?

Guilt and Shame -- how much is too much, how little is too little?
jacpod comments on May 25, 2018:
Ooh that is a hard one to answer - For myself I think shaming and guilt tripping another, is in bad taste so its only me shaming guilt tripping myself thats up for grabs for me. I don't actually do either - most times I feel guilty its about something that I could have/should have done and didn't in which case I can apologise and explain that my faculties are on the wane . Shaming seems to me too brutal to contemplate I have felt shame but wouldn't want to shame myself .
Do you think that the points system on this site is "pointless"? LOL
jacpod comments on May 25, 2018:
Points of course are pointless but theres a feel good factor in there somewhere I dont know what location but there is something compelling like being 'liked ' OOh I got a point how lucky or someone liked somthing i liked so we like the same things - goody goody gumdrops. I think it is quite a happy thing to have around and not have to be taken seriously - good for bonding - I reckon most people are non-competitive about points. but they are kindnesses.

The Loch Ness Monster (Or not) [bbc.co.uk] Will evidence be found
jacpod comments on May 23, 2018:
It would wane as one of the most interesting tourist spots if it were not. - All those people who believe they have photos of monsters would be upset to know they were decayed trees. No one would visit the Loch as without a monster whats the point and Scotland would lose its revenue ' Interestingly there are other landmaks Molly Malone is a statue called colloquially the tart with the cart and there is another woman in a fountain called the Floosie in the jacuzzi. I think we have to go for the enjoyment value not for disproving. Plenty of real history in Kilmainhen gaol.

Pablo Picasso: Good artists copy; great artists steal. Yes/no?
jacpod comments on May 23, 2018:
I like the second part of that. I am an artist & I steal all sorts of ideas and bend and blend them to my own tune. I remember at art college our tutor said that he couldn't understand my work - and I loved that he said that. In one of my final pieces I had a room full of collected items flashing lights and everything that was important to me - representing my Dissociative Identity Disorder. So he couldn't understand what me and eight alters wanted to portray and I understand that too as most people I come out to are afraid of what I may say or do or achieve when its out of their realm of understanding. And I have a feeling that that is the place where art is supreme - when it has to be a relationship of 'trying' to understand and d it doesnt really matter what the understanding is for the individual, because it s all understanding self.
Man. If there was ever a week for having bacon. This week would be it.
jacpod comments on May 23, 2018:
I have no problems with anyone else eating bacon but - Are you usually veggie? I am vegan not through choice just through not liking meat -and happily don't have the urges as i have never eaten meat unless it was fiendishly disguised as something I didn't know about . I was horribly picky as a child and wouldnt eat any food that had touched anything else on my plate or if someone, usually my brother tried to filch something off my plate - My favourite was cucumber sandwiches. Safe.

Why is there so much anger here?
jacpod comments on May 22, 2018:
I don't experience it, but then I would never engage with someone who was angry in a bullying way. My feelings about anger are that it is the only feelign that is a force for change. Fear,Sadness ,& Joy don't get anyone who is standing on your foot to get off Anger is the only force we have for change.

Breaking Up: Why Is Leaving Religion So Hard? Hasidic
jacpod comments on May 21, 2018:
I think Ignatius Loyola was the man who said "give me a child till he's six and i'll have him for life!" I think that is part of what makes it so hard as it plays into all insecurities so you can't leave it for fear of the worst thing happening on your watch - I have never had a god nor did my parents but they had that same sort of insecurity.
