Its not just an artiste is it? they are just the ones in the public eye and probably just as representative of the population at large- My husband got tired and left me and his two children when they were 3 and 4 years old to go to Germany to work with 'the lads' I think we give the same licence to everyone. No one likes a cheat whether they are famous or not but doesnt stop them being a good singer actor whatever .

I'd submit pictures if I knew how - I live in sheltered accommodation and we have nice grounds with an ancient walled garden I do a lot of digging and weeding and throwing seeds around- unhappily there is a guy here who has completely demolished a beautiful landscaped area and flattened it and imported a lots of stones - I like a richness of plant life not regimented areas.

Its a contradiction in terms -- I can get the one about maybe a guy called Jesus lived -not about him having been the son of god unless its a metaphor; The origin of the word sin comes from ,sine, meaning without love, so that one might have legs -Don't think heaven is real. I never was religious and had very strange irreligious parents & extended family - In 1952 I was four years old and could read, I read everything, I found even things I should never have got my hands on so all of my morals come from those books and the classics of childrens' books are morality squared. Real life was quite alien to me . I learned all the politenesses how to stay out of trouble and got all of my morality deepened with each inspiring book that I read . I was mostly reading because i needed to be invisible in a bonky family - because people leave you alone when you are lost in a book. Reality was a lot harder!

Do birthdays make any sense if you are an Atheist?

I like my birthday - I usually go out and play air hockey and bowling - there isn't a lot to do in Northern Ireland except see a lot of scenery and go for long walks - I cant quite see that there is anyhting at all religious about my birthday. Its just a day and only an excuse to lively up a bit

I have never had a god so I never talked to one in my mind - I have dissociative identity disorder so I have a collection of "Alters" in my mind but strangely can only listen in not have a conversation except with the one that is a go between. Would writing in an exercise book help you to put your words somewhere I find writing powerful, a drawing out of something from myself.

I used to live in communes in England and Scotland -We had seven acres of land and it fed us but didn't keep us very warm sometimes we were so wrapped up with wooly clothes hats scarves and parkas that you couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman I guess I was off the grid for a while then moved to Lancashire. and we had a run down mill to renovate and land. I think that people forget that language constantly evolves to have different meanings which are different from those of us all over the world .I imagine that Linguists have a hard time tracking where we are at - For me its like how cockney rhyming slang evolved for street traders to evade the Police. They made their own sometimes daily evolving language so if someone is not a cockney barrow boy it is very hard to make out what is being said. If a non cockney worked out a word or two it wouldn't make sense. I imagine everyone knows "lets have a butcher's' Butchers hook ='look'- lets have a look ! So you need the second part of the rhyme to get it - so - you dont get it . Old street slang plus new permeates our language as well as new words for new things that come into being like robots. its a good thing I htink that language is evolving because that means to me that we are too.

Wow your'e all tough cookies out there - A native American Indian woman came to give us a talk here in N.I. She said her mother told her when she was little about this country called England where there were no poisonous spiders, no hurricanes, no snakes that bit, and she dreamed of being here and couldn't believe it was such a safe space - But I think on the whole its mainly us humans that make it unsafe. No - Just my take. People end their life either spontaneously for instance in a fit of melancholy brought on my some all consuming life event - or in a measured thought out way, so they wont get found out -till its too late - anything else is para-suicide. Any which way they do it - religion wouldn't have stopped them; or it would have stopped them way before the planning stage.

No just unfortunate - if you really wanted them. -When I was little my aunt and uncle couldn't have children, so they sort of kidnapped any child (with parental consent) and popped them in the sidecar of my uncles motorbike and took them to the seaside) they were both crazy about children and I can see its different, in a way having your own - I enjoyed my two immensely.

No I celebrated by myself for myself - I still saw him, as we lived in the same commune, and we went to our divorce hearing together but it was very minimalistic because we had been separated for fifteen years - Ironically he married someone else with the same first name as me and who was the same age I was when we both got married - They are now divorced too.

I dont know if it is because i have D.I.D or not , but I am able to 'tune out' especially over this one; because though it doesn't get to me as much as it seems to get to you; I see the person as hapless and weakened by their incapacity to reach out to others with a different vocabulary and therefore just like a broken record with their own tune and that seems quite sad for them - and I am then the stronger one with less insecurity to carry. Don't know if this is making sense but I always thought that 'passing myself' with someone weaker was the kindest option -

My partner wanted a child and i had two, a girl and a boy, then had an ectopic pregnancy which blew my fallopian tubes to smithereens. We parted amicably so he could have babies. We met up many years later at a festival called the elephant fair and he was separated with two children -but I didn't want a relationship then, I had come to enjoy my own life very much and had no plans to share it.

Strangely the first book I learned to read was 'Alice -in-Wonderland ' I think it helped me be acceptant of 'strange' because I always was strange myself - (totally off the wall mentally unwell parents.) At an early age I didnt understand that and only responded to it by reading more because if you have your eyes down and nose in a book people rarely even see you so you become an invisible child . Alice in Wonderland demands a degree of acceptance of everything strange that could happen. When I was older 'I read the seven pillars of wisdom' which affected me a lot and was still in the strange arena-

Not so far but I am a 70 year old woman when I was in my forties I burn NO into my arm and kept it septic for a long time so it would scar. It healed and was white and I need it but as I grew older the old age liver spots appeared and obliterated it so my partner came and held my hand at the tatooist whilst he made the best job ever of making my NO stand out it - It hurt like nothing else because there was a lot of scraping and its sore - Strangely even though its on my forearm no one ever asks me about it and i dont think anyone things I 'm 'ard because of it someoen once asked if I had a boyfriend called OZ because in different directions it spells OZ ZO ON and NO

I think there are many ways of appeasing others whilst pleasing yourself - as a rule for myself I don't lie to myself; and at the same time am very happy to go along with anyone else's custom because I am not believing in it. I am not lying to myself that this is all real for me - I am there going along with friends maybe doing what they are doing but never believing that I am doing anything other than not mis-making myself in this company of people whom I like /love. My partner and i have silly traditions that no one else would really get ; like a good night poem that we made up that gets bits added and is so silly we do it clownishly with gusto and lots of dramatic voices and facial and body gestures - (we live in different flats in the same complex and so retire to our own places.)

I did retire early and volunteered at a mental health resource centre, took a degree in fine and applied arts - I sat on prof Bamfords review of adult mental health i& learning disability in Northern Ireland - leared to make raku pottery - These days at 70 .Y.O. I mostly garden only 4 minutes from the sea so I pick up my five pieces of plastic each day and also collect driftwood for sculptures. I have a nice life.

I have had several suicide attempts and spent time in mental institutions thankfully I was found before too much damage was done to my system - I also was a mental health advocate - {who better?} These days at 70 years old I feel i have calmed down quite a lot - I would say being different is challenging but also life changing - i have learned a lot and wouldnt have changed anything.

I'm lucky enough to have a few true friends in my life and I'm fully aware of how rare they are.

No I never read the bible. Atheist parents. At secondary school I found it boring. The books I was reading at home mainly classics , were brilliant ,good plots great narrative, everything hanging together to the ending. Pulling at your emotions all the way through I couldn't wait to get to bed at night so i could read.

I am sorry you're in an intolerable situation,tied every which way - If it were me, I would just tell her I love her - not wait for an answer and then go. You came and did your duty and are being put under intolerable pressure you either stay and face all the guilt tripping and harm; or love them from afar. I guess that also depends upon how strong you are but staying stuck gives you no power to change anything at all. Your brothers and sisters are the ones capable of seeing this through without self harm.

I went to free school at four years old and didn't really get the god stuff there wasn't a lot of it and it was reciting the creed which I never really did learn. My parents were unbelievers along with all my wider family as far as I know. At Free school oyu can learn whatever you like so long as you're learning something and I never chose anything religious to read so I was always atheist but never had to realise it till I joined the Brownies and then got kicked out because I wouldn't go to church parade.

I was with a partner for a long time and we worked together as well as 'parenting' together (I put it in inverted commas as they were my children not his)We were just really active had a share in a canal boat co-op cycled a lot etc. he wanted children of his own and I had had an ectopic pregnancy so couldn't have any more so at some point we decided to leave so he could get together with someone else who could give him babies. the first night I spent alone was dreadful I cried all night and couldnt get to sleep and feared I would never be able to sleep again - I got my mojo back fairly quickly and got my life in gear and was interested in how easy after that first night it was to just change gear and get back on a track - Life really opened up for me and I dont regret a thing - I saw him many years later at a festival and was interested to find I had no feelings at all for him - Dont know if that is capricious or just that I had moved on and learned to love myself more. But I still remember that first night alone as one of the most desperate of my life.
