This so called patriarchy is tinfoil hat bull shit. You know how I know? Because you just pulled a "Thats what they want you to think." You need to put your feelings aside and do better research, like including the rest of the 97% of data before drawing a conclusion. As far as actors go, it's not the same job. Roles are different and contracts are always open for negotiation. There are thousands of reasons that she got paid less, none of them are "she's a woman".

The wage gap is a myth. Women tend to earn more money than men until around 30- 35. At which point many women choose to have children and leave the workforce. When they return they often return in a diminished capacity. Women also tend to ask for fewer raises and promotions. Additionally men tend to take less time off from work than women. Also women tend to choose professions that pay less. Repairmen try to take advantage of anyone they can. They assume you don't know anything about what you need fixed, or you would have fixed it yourself and saved money. I do get told to smile, all the time. As for the last few things, it's your decision to have a child or not. Men are told it's our duty to have kids too, but we have no say on the abortion matter. And yes, when you have a family, your kids do come before your career, just like for their father. Sometimes that means one of you stays home. Women tend to be the ones who choose to do this. Male privilege is being expected to go down with the ship and being eligible for the draft. Men and women are different. Our strengths and weaknesses are different because of that. We have equal opportunity, some people just make different choices. I'm all for equality, but I accept that women have advantages that I don't and vise versa, by virtue of our species. It sucks to be a guy a lot of the time too. I just think perpetuating this patriarchy, male privilege myth is hurting everyone. Everybody's so focused on how offended they can get these days they forget what kind of harm animosity can bring.

Wage gap and pink taxes are made up. Women initiate 70% of divorces in the US, about 80% of divorces favor the woman. Alamony is almost always awarded to the woman when it is awarded. Single women with children have absolute control over when or if the father gets to see his children. The woman has all the power when it comes to reproductive rights. Most domestic violence victims are men. Feminists is applauded while men's rights activists are seen as misogynistic and bigoted. I could keep going, but I think I've dispelled the myth of modern patriarchy. Equality means having the same access to opportunity, what you do with that opportunity is purely based on an individuals decisions.

In light of the results coming out evenly spilt, it begs the question... Considering we are a community of individuals that are likely more logical, contemplative, and discerning than other groups (like those that contain believers), and considering that at one time all of us believed in free will,...
jayneonacobb replies on Jan 29, 2018:
I understand your thesis. I agree that evolution and experience help dictate action. Ultimately a choice is still a choice. I've gone against my gut many times. My point is my will changes depending on my situation. I can change my mind, and often do. I find the idea of no free will to be tantamount to predestination. The majority can be wrong. Besides, this is a close poll.i could easily ask the same you. Abrahamic Religion believes in predestination despite its claim to the contrary. Maybe you didn't shed your beliefs.

@JeffMurray You just explained why free will exists. Even though it may not matter if you call either option by either name, it must be named in the context of the question. You must choose a name. The result doesn't matter. You exercise your will over the naming of the dots. You decided the terms by which you identified them. You have countless other options, but you picked binaries of each other to prove your point. Unfortunately for your argument it's not a coin toss proposition.

@tommymeador there are six definitions of will. It is impossible to reconcile each one with all others. Context determines definition. There are six different contexts to consider. This renders the argument moot without a qualifier. For example: i have no choice that i am a human and subject am to the human condition. But I am capable of asserting my will in many instances.
