I was raised in Baptist tradition. Tried so hard to be a good, devout christian. But one thing always made me doubt and that was prayer. It always felt ridiculous and humiliating. I would journal prayers instead and then I realized I was just journaling and there wasn't anyone reading over my shoulder. I was completely deconverted about 4 years ago when I discovered Hitchens and others. The pressure of eternal damnation is gone, now I can be kind for kindness sake. ????
