I'm pretty sure they tell how many times ads were viewed by the number of image downloads. Some sites won't let you view their content unless you disable your ad-blocker for them. Once in a while I'll play along unless the ads are animated or have some other obnoxious characteristics. There's nothing on the Internet I want to see badly enough to put up with that crap. As an aside, I just signed up for Hulu's $1/month year-long promotion but was disgusted to see that you have to put up with their ads to watch the programming, so screw them!

Nixon really was a total dick -- a racist, scheming, nasty bastard. It's funny that we can look back on him now and say, well he did a lot of good things. Everyone loved Reagan but he was another religious jerk who started the deficits-don't-matter insanity, Then Bush Sr. started integrating the religious idiots throughout government which his moronic son expanded. The recent history of Republican presidents is a monumental disaster of economic missteps, never-ending wars, and extreme neglect of crucial areas like the environment, health care, and concern for the underprivileged. So Trump came along, took one look at that and said, "I can make them all look good by comparison". Screw em!

I’ve been hoping we’d stumble across radio signals from alien civilizations my whole life but it’s not looking promising. My best guess is that civilizations have a limited life expectancy before they destroy themselves with war, disease, pollution, whatever. Civilized (more or less) humans have only been around a few thousand years, a blink of the eye in galactic terms, and we’ve only been sending and receiving radio signals a hundred years or so. So if technological societies only survive a few hundred years then it seems reasonable that they’re less likely to overlap long enough to establish communications with us.
