Should you ask first before you decide you want to follow someone?
kiramea comments on Jan 8, 2018:
I have several following me. I consider it a compliment.

How was your religion indoctrination in a private elementary school?
kiramea comments on Jan 8, 2018:
Never was in private school, but I am from a time where public schools were allowed to advocate for religion. We had prayer every morning along with the pledge, and also had religious assemblies on occasion.
So it turns out that Mexico isn't going to pay for the wall.
kiramea comments on Jan 8, 2018:
That's old news. Mexico has been saying that even before the idiot became president.
Do you trust easily or do you trust no one?
kiramea comments on Jan 7, 2018:
I subscribe to the trust but verify school of thought. That being said, it's extremely hard for me to completely trust anyone. Phrases that will immediately turn me off: 1) What; you don't trust me? 2) I would never lie to you 3) I'm a Christian, so you can trust me. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

I wish the people on this site would stop being so political.
kiramea comments on Jan 7, 2018:
When the political climate affects my family and myself, I personally believe it's worth talking about. Since our current president is a misogynist, bigoted, racist, homophobic/transphobic idiot who is trying to kill off the poor...... Well enough said.

kiramea comments on Jan 7, 2018:
My best friend's entire extended family is one of them. My friend is an RN, and her sister is an Occupational Therapist; so education has nothing to do it their beliefs. I asked her about the evidence to the contrary she explained that the reason for that is that Satan is deceiving us. I just let them believe since I know I won't ever change their minds.
This has always been a mystery to me.

How many of us here went to a religious school?
kiramea comments on Jan 3, 2018:
My best friend in high school had her children schooled in an ABEKA school. The entire family still believes that the Earth is 6000 years old, and all the other b/s that is "taught" to conservative Christians. This woman is an RN, and her sister is an Occupational Therapist so you would think they would be smart enough to evolve. Apparently not.
My religion is kindness and rational thought.
kiramea comments on Jan 3, 2018:
Not a religion, but a way of life for me.
Do you still have a problem writing god, church, bible, etc, with small letters?
kiramea comments on Jan 2, 2018:
Anything that is ingrained in you is hard to overcome in the beginning. An example is for years I had problems with writing the word "he" (or anything masculine for that matter), because I have almost exclusively been in BDSM relationships.
I was raised on hippie music.
kiramea comments on Jan 2, 2018:
Cat Stevens was put on the watch list because he believed (at that time) in the fatwa on Salman Rushdie. You know, the guy who wrote Satanic Verses and blasphemed Mohammad. My sister's favorite singer of all time is Cat Stevens. She is even putting aside money in case he gets close to Missouri so she can see him.
You might find this hard going.

kiramea comments on Jan 1, 2018:
One of the MANY reasons why I'm not on dating sites. It gets really tiring to constantly get cut-and-paste from desperate men claiming that they read my profile, and then state that they are looking for a god-fearing, monogamous Christian woman like me. Oh, and that the love my pics My profiles always say I'm a poly atheist, and I never have pictured on my profiles. It it's not that (and it usually is), they want naked pics or want a sexual relationship immediately. No thanks.

Single or Partnered, looking or not?
kiramea comments on Dec 30, 2017:
Single and looking, however I am looking for a companion NOT a life partner. I have been married three times, and am not looking for a fourth. I just want someone to do things with and watch the world go by. I do not need someone to complete me, tell me what to do, or take over my home or family.

kiramea comments on Dec 29, 2017:
Christians do their "good" because the want the choice spot in Heaven. We do "good" because that is what we want to do. There is no reward, and pats on the back; that's just us. Personally I see the good atheist do as more sincere because we expect nothing in return.
What do you think?
kiramea comments on Dec 29, 2017:
Why should we especially when most people who call themselves Christian don't?
Is anyone else here godless but with a certain set of ideas to live by?

I hate to say it, but most "made in America" products are substandard no matter what the price. That being said, if they were well made I would buy it as long as the price is reasonable.

Can you be agnostic and still think evil exists?
kiramea comments on Dec 27, 2017:
Just think of it this way..... most Christians that I've met believe an agnostic/atheist can't have morals. Both (in my opinion) are b/s.

kiramea comments on Dec 27, 2017:
My first husband proposed after knowing him for three days. We were married about a month later. I think you folks already know he's not my husband anymore.

Why did you choose your username/avatar?
kiramea comments on Dec 27, 2017:
Kiramea is a name that I use in BDSM circles. It means "little dark one" (I used to have dark brown hair before it turned gray). The thing is, I am anything but "little". Kind of like Tiny being used for the nickname of a large man.

What has the atheist "community" done for anyone lately?
kiramea comments on Dec 26, 2017:
For the most part atheist don't pat themselves on the back and announce their deeds to the entire world like a lot of Christians. I know of several non-religious charities that helped out with last years disasters, however a lot of us just choose to donate to various charities whether it be monetary or donation of time.

kiramea comments on Dec 26, 2017:
I haven't received any either. Now, I did receive a message a couple of days ago from a guy that wanted to know if my XL designation for shirt meant that I like to walk around with nothing on except an oversized shirt. Now, I do have an illustration of a busty woman as my avatar, but I don't see how that would indicate that I'm rail thin and wear only a t-shirt. By the way, if that person sees this, I'm pretty sure we're not compatible.

kiramea comments on Dec 26, 2017:
"Ancient Astronaut Theorists say there is ample evidence of alien visitation." (sorry, had to say it). The problem with evidence is that unless a spaceship/alien shows up on the White House lawn or other public place, there will never be enough evidence. Even then, a lot of folks will cite how easy it is to photoshop things into pictures.
Saw something on tv about Mother Theresa she did some good work. What do you guys think about her?
kiramea comments on Dec 26, 2017:
My father thought she was the best thing since sliced bread. The more I read about her, the more I was appalled at her actions. Yes, she "helped" the poor; however she didn't do it because she thought the poor needed help. She did it to elevate her place in heaven and to hell with how she treated the people of Earth as they were expendable.

kiramea comments on Dec 23, 2017:
To be honest, the thought of being in a "heaven" with my morally deficient, sociopathic ex-husband just because he repented before he died makes me want to throw up. Not to mention all of those "follow me or you're going to hell" evangelists that expect to go there. I know more morally bankrupt Christians than morally bankrupt atheists.
Should I attend a wedding at church as an atheist?
kiramea comments on Dec 23, 2017:
This is about your daughter, not about you and your non-beliefs. No one is going to go up in flames if you enter a church. Put aside your prejudice (and yes it's a prejudice if you are contemplating on not going to your own daughter's wedding because of your opinion), and go. I'm pretty sure you'll regret it if you don't.
Would you raise your children religious just to fit in?
kiramea comments on Dec 23, 2017:

How to explain the Adam and Eve story?
kiramea comments on Dec 22, 2017:
They came from the land of Nod. Now, explain to me how humans inhabited that place without being offspring of Adam/Eve. Also, if you read Genesis it states that the "sons of God" mated with the "daughters of man". My sister insists that all are of Adam/Eve, however if they were why did the Bible specify each group?

UFOs and Atheists
kiramea comments on Dec 22, 2017:
I have seen UFO's (I wasn't able to identify it therefore it's a UFO). Personally, it makes more sense to believe in Sentient beings who have possibly been around for millions of years longer than I have than believe in an imaginary friend. Also, it makes no sense to think that we're the only people in this HUGE universe.

Her husband apparently has an addiction to porn, and instead of admitting to his wife that he screwed up and had an online affair, he subjected himself and his family to blackmail. When he finally could not hide it he admitted to his wife. They are still married; my friend telling me that "God has forgiven him". As far as I know they are still digging themselves out of that hole. I don't know about ya'll, but if my husband put me in financial ruin instead of admitting to a screw up, I'd be leaving him.

Should companies be required to include sales tax in their pricing per item?

From what I've been told, that is illegal. Also, that would muck up the people who buy things with a sales tax exemption since they aren't required to pay it.

From what I can find, viagra can only be bought over the counter in the UK. As for the answer to your question..... we've had sexual harassment long before viagra. Like domestic abuse in the past, it was pretty much considered normal and women could not do anything about it. Now that women are getting their power, we can and are demanding something be done.

What has been the most difficult death you’ve experienced and how (if at all) did that loss change...
kiramea comments on Dec 15, 2017:
I have three that changed me 1) my youngest died of SIDS in 1992 when he was three weeks old. It's bad enough burying your child, but having the idiot officiating tell us that we should be glad he died because now he won't have to go through all the trials of growing up. Pretty much cemented my atheism. 2) My best friend was murdered in 2009 by a kid in his class in front of the class. The kid that murdered him was kicked out of the Texas Youth Commission facility (juvenile detention) because he was too disturbed and violent. My friend was murdered less than a month later. I recently looked up the kid that killed him on google and he's still too disturbed to go to trial. At least he's in a mental facility and not on the streets. 3) My last husband died suddenly of heart failure less than two weeks after I buried my father (Oct 2014). We were estranged, but I still loved him dearly. I'm still trying to get over that.

kiramea comments on Dec 13, 2017:
I am usually in open relationships. My then boyfriend was on collarme.com (a dating site for people that are into BDSM). I can't count the number of women who messaged him claiming to be submissives extolling their undying devotion to him, and then ask him for money so they can move in with him. These are women who have 1) never met him and 2) never talked to him until that message. For myself, I have had a couple of men message me telling me that they will be in town that weekend and wanted to "hook up". Mind you, all of my dating profiles say I'm not into casual sex and that I need to get to know them first. Guess that's why I'm not on any dating sites at the moment (I don't consider this a dating site).

kiramea comments on Dec 11, 2017:
Not exactly a stunt, but when I was much younger my then husband and I would park his motorcycle in front of SHSU (I lived in Huntsville, Texas and that was the University there). He would be in all black, while I would be in all black with a choke collar around my neck and him holding the leash. Oh, and his t-shirt would read "Wanted slave, experience preferred references required". Obviously we were in a BDSM relationship. When someone stopped and asked what we were doing He would answer "Watching the circus." Man..... the stories I could tell about those days. :) The interesting thing about all this was that my father taught Chemistry at that University and my mother lived less than a mile from where we would sit.
