What is One Bad Habit You Wish You Could Give Up?
kiramea comments on Dec 11, 2017:
Overeating. Again, I'm trying to curb my eating when bored. Hopefully that will also eliminate my Type 2 Diabetes.
If every time you walked into a room, a theme song had to play, what would it be?
kiramea comments on Dec 11, 2017:
They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha Ha. Funny thing is, the B side is the same song backwards.
Have you ever been proselytized at Wal-Mart before by a cashier?
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
Not in a store, but I did when I was in the hospital recovering from quadruple-bypass surgery.
What percentage of people in the world would want to join a colony in outer space if one was ...
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
Don't know about the percentage, but I would.
What brings you here?
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
When I first signed up I had no idea this was a "dating" site. I just wanted to be around people like me.
What is a sound you absolutely hate?
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
Trump's voice.
Why are people so sensitive on facebook?
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
I have a friend on facebook that has severe kidney disease. She complains about not feeling well and about not being able to find a kidney, however she refuses to go on dialysis. The thing is, if she goes on dialysis she will feel better and still be able to get a kidney when one is found. I have given her advise along with my sister (who is a dialysis technician) but she ignores both of us and others. We've both come to the conclusion that she just wants people to feel sorry for her. By the way, I have the exact same kidney disease that she does though it isn't as severe yet (it's hereditary and at this time incurable. I will eventually will either have to have a kidney transplant or go on dialysis). I feel for her as I don't exactly want to go on dialysis either, but will when the time comes. Personally, it's really hard for me to feel for a person who refuses to help them-self.
Interested in the social laws people find really inappropriate and/or outdated.
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
Texas still has sex laws. Apparently the government is concerned about how many dildos a person owns among other things. http://www.chron.com/news/politics/texas/article/In-Texas-even-possession-of-a-sex-toy-is-11161211.php
Researchers claim that humans have souls which can live on after death
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
That "newspaper" (and I use that loosely) looks like a scandal magazine to me. I wouldn't trust anything I read from that. If it was a true scientific article, it would be in a scientific magazine.
What was your last...?
kiramea comments on Dec 10, 2017:
So long ago that I don't remember. What can I say, I'm boring. Actually, my family apparently has the addiction gene (father's parents were alcoholics as were two of my brothers) that I pretty much stay away from it. I do have a drink ever so often, but I don't get drunk.
How do you communicate a refusal to donate to religious groups? (more inside)
kiramea comments on Dec 9, 2017:
If asked, I just tell them no thank you. No need to go into a long speech as to why unless they press the issue.
Are Religious persons allowed on this Agnostic site?
kiramea comments on Dec 9, 2017:
I have come across a couple of religious people here, however they aren't stupid enough to try to convert us. You probably see us talking bad because........ this is an agnostic/atheist site. We've been blasted pretty much as long as we've been atheist/agnostic. This is a safe place, and we don't have to worry about 1) Being told we're going to hell 2) Being told we're delusional to believe there is no god 3) Having someone or a group of people try to convert us
Just so bizarre that we have to create a category for humans who accept Reality over fantasy.
kiramea comments on Dec 9, 2017:
Humans have been believing in a Supreme Being for thousands of years, so (to me) it's not bizarre that they still believe. It's difficult if not impossible to get one person to change an established (in their mind) truth, much less get thousands/millions to do that.
The 11 Most Absurd things that Catholics actually believe in .
kiramea comments on Dec 9, 2017:
I was raised Catholic. This fact that they can sin for six days as long as they go to confession on the 7th still pisses me off.

kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:

Where I live (rural Eastern Shore of MD) I see lots of pick-up trucks and business vehicles with ...
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
Anytime I see a Christian fish symbol on a business I turn the other way. I find it disturbing that you have to advertise your faith in order to get business.
If given the choice I would much rather worship a pantheon than live in a monotheistic world.
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
If I had to worship anything I would worship the chaos Gods. I would rather work with the chaos in my life than against it.
Suicide/depression more an issue for non-believers than believers?
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
There is (to me) a lot of assumptions in this article as any form you fill out does not ask if you're an atheist. Yes, they sometimes ask what religion you are, however if you're like me you either don't answer it or reply non-religious (which is not the same thing as atheist). I've been committed to a hospital after a suicide attempt. I don't recall filling out a questionnaire about religious affiliation.
Do unto others: What rights do animals have?
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
They have the right to NOT be left out in 10 degree weather all night long. If I knew which neighbor did this I would do my best to have them arrested. Let me explain.... I woke up this morning to a dog at my fence that apparently broke his leash (it was dragging behind him). If I thought that the dog and my dog would behave I would have brought it inside but my dog is very protective. Instead, I called animal control.
Does anyone wanna slap people at Xmas time?
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
I really REALLY hate the holidays. Too much fake smiles and platitudes along with the Christmas music makes me really nauseous. I try to stay home as much as possible.
Is an 'open' marriage a marriage?
kiramea comments on Dec 8, 2017:
I have been in one. Actually, I prefer open relationships as I personally believe that it is possible to love more than one person at a time.
What is the main reason why you are not religious?
kiramea comments on Dec 7, 2017:
I just can not fathom a "God" would want to micro-manage a bunch of lowly humans. Personally, I would think he/she/it would have better things to do with its time.
What does the group think of advertising our point of view?
kiramea comments on Dec 7, 2017:
If I have to put up with billboards proclaiming anti-abortion, one-man/one woman, etc, they can put up with a couple of atheist/non-believer billboards. It's all free speech so it all should be okay. Just because you disagree with something doesn't mean you can demand said speech should be stopped (except for hate speech).
Are there any words that disgust you?
kiramea comments on Dec 6, 2017:
Racial slurs bother me, however the word that I detest the most is "delusional". My ex-boyfriend used to use that one when he is losing an argument (I'm mentally ill, but I sure as hell not delusional).
If you could go back in time before adulthood, what one thing would you do differently, and why?
kiramea comments on Dec 5, 2017:
Nothing. Everything I've done in my life including my mistakes have put me where I am today.
What one thing have you not done ,that you really want to do
kiramea comments on Dec 5, 2017:
Skydive or hang-glide. One little bitty problem...... I'm terrified of falling.
So, are you ready for Christmas?
kiramea comments on Dec 5, 2017:
As most here stated, Christians hijacked a pagan holiday and made it their own to make it easier for pagans to convert. If the holiday really was about celebrating the birth of Christ it would be in the spring. As for celebrating; I have a young grandson so I celebrate it for him. I also say "Happy Holidays" and not Christmas because I have Jewish and Muslim friends who do not celebrate Christmas.
Feminist or not
kiramea comments on Dec 4, 2017:
I believe in equality of the sexes and races, however I do NOT believe anyone is better than another. I have met too many women who state that they're a feminist that believes that men should be subjugated since they have done that to women for years/decades.
If nice guys/gals finish last then what's the point in being nice?
kiramea comments on Dec 4, 2017:
I'm am nice for myself, not for "kudos" or finishing first.
If aliens landed on Earth, would that spell the end of Earth's religions?
kiramea comments on Dec 4, 2017:
Nope. They'll just try to convert them.
Am I the only one who have high respect for scientist?
kiramea comments on Dec 4, 2017:
My father had a Phd in Chemistry. He was also pre-med and pre-nursing advisor at the University that he taught at. Personally my idols were Wernher von Braun and Nikola Tesla. So, the answer to your question is yes; I have a high respect for scientists
What is your favorite cake you bake?
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
My favorite is banana nut cake with German Chocolate icing. My sister likes my pineapple upside cake while my youngest son likes my red velvet cake. Daughter likes my strawberry cake. As you can tell I love baking.
Catfishing? Do you believe we are who we are?
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
Never watched the show. I do not believe blindly; I need proof.
Do you like long posts?
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
If they have a point to be made, sure. But..... it would be really REALLY nice if people with long posts would use paragraphs. One long drawn out paragraph is difficult for me to read, and because of that I usually don't.
Are the religious willfully ignorant?
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
Thousands of years of brainwashing can do that to a person. They believe that since that belief is so ingrained in society that it must be true. I opened my eyes (and mind) and found my truth.
Atheism Does't Excuse Intolerance I have seen racism, xenophobia, islamophobia, anti-semitism etc.
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
I agree. I've had one person "barf" on a comment I made a few weeks ago about transgenders. If he had done that in real life I would have probably punched him in the face. I understand that a lot of people my age and older have some issues with that subject, but keep it off my comments.
Age & Romance: How Low (or High) will you go?
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
Most of the men I dated in my 20's are either dead or in their 80's. My last boyfriend was 11yrs younger than me. As for now..... I put a limit on dating someone the same age or younger than my oldest son (he's 39 at the moment) With that said, I still prefer older men, but as we all know age is a number. A person whose physical age is 65 can act immature whereas a person whose physical age is 30 can be mature.
Who believes as i do of aliens visited earth and they were made out to be gods, only because of ...
kiramea comments on Dec 3, 2017:
When Ancient Aliens started showing I was so excited. Finally confirmation that other people believed liked I do. While a lot of the current episodes (last 4 seasons or so) are mostly rehashed opinions and bunk, I still occasionally find information that is intriguing. I have believed for decades that Aliens had a hand in the evolution of at least humans. I never really thought of them as Gods until Ancient Aliens, but it sounds about right.
I know people don't like to talk about this.....
kiramea comments on Dec 2, 2017:
Not bi-polar, but I do have Borderline Personality. As for how I handle religious zealots..... for the most part I ignore them.
Do women have the right to pop the question?
kiramea comments on Dec 2, 2017:
Sounds like you just want confirmation of your opinion that she should be the one to pop the question and not you. Personally, it sounds like she already has.
The ultimate question; is anyone else here a gamer?
kiramea comments on Dec 2, 2017:
I'm not, however my son is a huge gamer. He loves the .hack series (has every one of the American ones including one Japanese exclusive), Resident Evil, Fear, Diablo, etc. He also participates in three or four Dungeon and Dragons online games. Having Asperger's, this has been his obsession for years.
Does praying over every meal seem a bit ridiculous?
kiramea comments on Dec 2, 2017:
I think praying is ridiculous. Doesn't matter if it's before eating, before a game, or before doing something stupid.
Oh, this is gonna be FUN!
kiramea comments on Dec 2, 2017:
None since they're all make-believe :)
What do you do on the weekends?
kiramea comments on Dec 1, 2017:
Usually not a damn thing, but this Sunday I'm going to a Democratic Socialist meeting with my sister.
What do you think of people that see Jesus' face in Cheetos, toast and other things?
kiramea comments on Dec 1, 2017:
And some people call me delusional. I don't hold a candle to these people.
DEATH Someone just posted about dealing with another's death. How about your own?
kiramea comments on Dec 1, 2017:
When its my turn to go, I'm going. It doesn't matter what I do to prevent my death, I'm still going. Because I believe that in my heart death does not scare me.
Do you support male circumcision?
kiramea comments on Nov 29, 2017:
When I had my oldest, it was customary for the boy to be circumcised. I signed the release, and right before I was discharged I was handed a screaming infant. He cried for over 10hrs. He was not giving pain medication because the nurses and doctor told me that infants do not feel pain. My second and third son I did not get circumcised. I will not be a party to giving pain to an infant that can not understand why they hurt.

kiramea comments on Nov 29, 2017:
I have had friends tell me in the same breath that God is all loving and then say he is a vindictive God. You can't have both so choose.
Do you believe you will see your love ones again after you die? Why?
kiramea comments on Nov 29, 2017:
Even-though I am an atheist I do believe in reincarnation. Personally, believing in God and believing in reincarnation are two completely separate things. I believe my late husband and I have been together before, and will be again. Other than that, no.
If nothing was stopping you, what job would you like to have?
kiramea comments on Nov 29, 2017:
When I was younger I wanted to be an Astronaut. When I found out that I would only be going to the Moon/Mars (maybe), I decided not to. I wanted to go out into the farthest reaches of space, not just to Mars/Moon. When they put out offers to go to Mars, I wanted so much to jump at it. Though it was a one way ticket, being a part of history excited me. Unfortunately I am now too old and have too many health issues to even be considered.
Oh, the "Content deleted" message issue.
kiramea comments on Nov 28, 2017:
The one time it happened to me was before I sent anything to admin. Also, the person who it was from was not admin. I have also never deleted any posts. Not worried about it though; I know it will get fixed. :)
Texas Mall Owner To Install Ten Commandments Monument
kiramea comments on Nov 28, 2017:
He can do whatever he wants to. People can do whatever they want to including not shopping at that mall if it offends them. Personally, I'll shop somewhere else as I do not appreciate having religion shoved down my throat.
Children: Are you ok if they wanna be religious?
kiramea comments on Nov 27, 2017:
I want my children to have their own mind which includes whether or not they believe in a God.
What is your definition of perfect? With that said how does that affect your world view
kiramea comments on Nov 27, 2017:
I personally believe that there is no such thing as perfection.
Site problems: Like, reply and like buttons still do not work -- 4 days now.
kiramea comments on Nov 27, 2017:
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having issues. My like button has a mind of its own. Sometimes it works, and other times it's either not there or doesn't want to work. Using a PC with Chrome browser.
I have discovered a few individuals on this site that do not comment on other posts but continue to...
kiramea comments on Nov 27, 2017:
Maybe they're more comfortable writing post that they know about than commenting on them. I can see that especially if they have phobias about looking stupid. Personally I wouldn't think anything about it. They'll probably start replying to posts once they get comfortable.
@Admin. I’m starting to get a message on my notifications that says. “Sorry, Content Deleted”
kiramea comments on Nov 26, 2017:
Whatever it is, I just got one.
Does anyone else know they don't want to be buried in their family plot?
kiramea comments on Nov 26, 2017:
My father once told me that he wanted to be cremated and scattered in Raquel Welch's backyard. Sadly he was buried next to his parents. When I die I have told my children to donate me to science, and then they can either have me scattered in the community garden that most medical schools have or do whatever they want with my ashes. I would love to be used in a body farm or be plastinated (https://www.humanbodies.eu/en/plastination/ for those that don't know what it is), but I live too far away for either to happen.
How to deal with parents?
kiramea comments on Nov 26, 2017:
Bring home Church of Satan or Voodoo books and tell her you found your religion. Seriously, I don't know what to tell you. My father knew, but he was fighting his own religious breakdown, so we actually discussed it (my mother was deceased but I know she would not have cared). Maybe try to just not bring up the subject or tell her you don't want to discuss it.
Why are there so many people in the USA ready to condemn an agnostic or atheist in questioning the ...
kiramea comments on Nov 25, 2017:
It's not just the US, it's the world. I personally believe that they feel that intimidation and the fear of eternal damnation should get anyone to convert. I just tell them that it's a good thing that I don't believe in heaven/hell, and even if I did Hell would be better than living in an eternity with them and their like.
If god is all knowing than how can he have free will if he already knows what's going to happen?
kiramea comments on Nov 25, 2017:
One of the reasons why I became an atheist. Why give free will and then forbid them to use it? Also, if "God" has already decided if your name is in the big book of life, then why even try? It's never made any sense to me.
One for the ladies! :)
kiramea comments on Nov 25, 2017:
Klingon Seriously, uniforms do nothing for me.
So what's everyone's passionate cause (s) and why? Mine is STEM education.
kiramea comments on Nov 25, 2017:
Oh, and in answer to your question my passion is getting people to open up to the possibility to alternative medicine intelligently.
So what's everyone's passionate cause (s) and why? Mine is STEM education.
kiramea comments on Nov 25, 2017:
My 6yr old grandson is already asking intelligent questions on the Big Bang Theory, Parallel Universes, and Black Holes. His mother also told me that he was giving her factual information about Gamma Rays. Looks like he's getting STEM science kits for Christmas.
How did you tell your family that you don't believe in their religion?
kiramea comments on Nov 24, 2017:
I didn't feel it was any of their business so I never "told" them.
How’s this position
kiramea comments on Nov 24, 2017:
I like to ask them what proof besides the Bible and other religious texts do you have? They can't answer that.
If Jesus came back today, what would you do?
kiramea comments on Nov 24, 2017:
Allegedly he has come back...... several times. At least I've read several articles of people claiming to be Jesus Christ.
I’m soon to start a career in Medicine as a physician.
kiramea comments on Nov 24, 2017:
I am an advocate for natural remedies when appropriate. That being said, I do not go that route anymore as I have stage 4 kidney disease and don't want to chance a natural remedy shutting down my kidneys. What a lot of people seem believe is that natural means harmless. Just because it is a natural remedy does NOT mean it will not harm your body. Also, if you have any chronic illnesses it is best not to try any natural remedies without consulting a physician.

What's your animal totem?
kiramea comments on Nov 22, 2017:
It's not a real animal, but my protector is a gargoyle.
I'm really hitting a brick wall.
kiramea comments on Nov 21, 2017:
The way I see it you're going to die eventually so why worry about it or the afterlife. Personally I believe in reincarnation, however I don't dwell on that or death.
I posted the question," Should we educate or exterminate religious people?
kiramea comments on Nov 21, 2017:
Christians have tried that with non-believers; hence the Crusades/Inquisition. I can see why people would take offense to that statement.
Am I alone in my opinion that we have enough children in the world?
kiramea comments on Nov 21, 2017:
My oldest son and his long time girlfriend decided a long time ago not to have kids. I had no problem with that, and have supported them completely. It takes a lot of money, patience, and time to raise children, and I personally believe you should only have them if you want them.
In your experience, when discussing religion with a believer, what's the most common thing they say ...
kiramea comments on Nov 20, 2017:
It's not one that I hear all the time, but the one that makes me groan the most is "I rather believe in (insert topic here) than go to hell. I then tell them that it's a good thing I don't believe in hell. They usually walk away after that.
There are three things that “Morality” does to corrupt humanity.
kiramea comments on Nov 20, 2017:
You're confusing morality with religion.
How many have experienced Sleepwalking?
kiramea comments on Nov 20, 2017:
I used to sleepwalk as a child, but as far as I know I haven't lately. I used to have a boyfriend who would talk in his sleep; unfortunately it was in Farsi (Iranian) and I understood none of it.
Is it me or does it seem some religious people are obsessed with death?
kiramea comments on Nov 20, 2017:
I have heard Christianity described as a death cult, and I agree. Most followers are so concerned about the "riches in heaven" that they forsake happiness in things on Earth. Personally, I find that pretty sad.
What's your take on this evil bloody money grubbing c Joel Olsteen?
kiramea comments on Nov 20, 2017:
Except for watching his father preach, Joel really has no experience as a pastor. His previous employment was motivational speaker; to me that explains everything. Personally I hate the man and don't understand how anyone who has read the Bible can even go to his church.
WHAT'S YOUR POSITION ON ABORTION ?
kiramea comments on Nov 19, 2017:
I personally am against abortion. That's why I've never had one. It's not the government's or religion's place to dictate what a woman should do with their body. Also, unless the man is willing to carry (be pregnant which is impossible at the moment) and raise the child, they essentially have no right to the subject. It really pisses me off when men scream they should have a say, and in the same breath state they will have no part of raising/supporting the child.
E.T. Aliens: As real as the boy next door Have you had your own personal sightings?
kiramea comments on Nov 19, 2017:
I have had several sightings. I could not identify them, therefore they were UFO's in the literal sense.
Have you ever regretted the time you have wasted?
kiramea comments on Nov 19, 2017:
There are things that I have done that I wish I haven't, however each "mistake" I've made brought me to where I am today. So, no, I have no regrets.
As an atheist, I think Homosexuality should not come into mainstream. What's your take ?
kiramea comments on Nov 19, 2017:
As far as I'm concerned, it's no one's business what sexual orientation a person is as long as they are consenting adults
I got proselytized at work by 2 of my managers.
kiramea comments on Nov 17, 2017:

Jehovah witneses
kiramea comments on Nov 17, 2017:
It really depends. If it's elective surgery the person can save their own blood for the transfusions (I've heard that is acceptable). If it's an emergency transfusion, saving the life should take precedent over religion.
Likelihood of meeting in person
kiramea comments on Nov 17, 2017:
I am completely open to meeting someone from here, however I'm a VERY private person and have a hard time trusting people. One of the reasons why I've been single for 10yrs. Most people I talk to seem to want to marry within a week. I personally want to become friends first and get to know a person before I move to the next step.

How to: Make peace with a parent...
kiramea comments on Nov 16, 2017:
I'm the only one in my family that is an atheist. My father was (he's deceased now) a devout Catholic and my sister is a devout evangelical. We all know our position, and we never talk about it since what we believe in is our business. If your dad insists on talking religion just tell him that topic is not up to discussion and stick to it. If he continues then just leave/hang up/etc.
Believers on buses
kiramea comments on Nov 16, 2017:
My first thought was that you need a better set of earphones. That being said, I would probably tell her that it isn't against the law to listen to music on the bus, and if he/she didn't like my music to move or start carrying a set of ear plugs so they wouldn't be bothered.
No Kidding: Sexist Jokes Aren't Funny, They're Hostile.
kiramea comments on Nov 15, 2017:
Sexist jokes are pretty much like racist jokes; they only appeal to the ignorant.
I am a gun owner who is licensed and trained.
kiramea comments on Nov 15, 2017:
I really don't see how enacting more gun laws are going to prevent shootings when we don't even enforce the laws we now have on the books. We need to start enforcing what laws we already have consistently and without prejudice, and only after we have done that evaluate what is working/not working and go from there. I agree, something needs to be done; however it does no good to enact law after law and then forget about them (or worse yet don't enforce them because the suspect is white/rich/Christian/etc).
Should employers be allowed to give pre-employment tests?
kiramea comments on Nov 14, 2017:
When I was much younger I remember reading that pre-employment test (in Texas anyway) were biased towards white. I honestly don't know if that's still the case, but I personally don't not believe that these tests are pertinent to the job unless the tests are job specific to make sure you're not going to screw up whatever it is you are being hired to do (like chemical engineer, forensic specialist, etc)
It's amazing how much control the fear of death holds over us.
kiramea comments on Nov 11, 2017:
I have no fear of death as I've been close several times. When it's my turn to go, I'm going and there is nothing I can do about it so why obsess about it. With that said, it would be nice to be around when my grandson grows up but that's not my call.
What’s the playlist going to be at your funeral?
kiramea comments on Nov 11, 2017:
I'm going to either be donated to science (free cremation) or be cremated. If I did have a playlist, the top song would be "Another One Bites The Dust".
This really did happen.
kiramea comments on Nov 11, 2017:
About three years ago I had quadruple bypass, and one of the vampires (phlebotomist) was taking my blood. He starting ranting about how gays were ruining America and how he just can't understand why anyone would want to have sex with someone of the same sex. I interrupted him and told him that my daughter was gay and that it was inappropriate to be complaining to a patient about his prejudices. He quickly finished and left. When I saw the charge nurse I complained and told her that I never want to see that person in my room again. I have to admit I hope he got fired.
My religious/gullible mother blames me for my ailments. Advice?
kiramea comments on Nov 8, 2017:
I had a really good friend whose husband contracted prostate cancer. Instead on chemo and radiation they decided to pray the cancer away. Three years later he was in a lot of pain and went to the doctor. Turns out he now had inoperable prostate cancer. I really wanted to tell her how much of an idiot she and her husband was, but figured him dying was punishment enough. By the way, she's still a fundamentalist christian.
