My father is Irish and a very strict catholic. He moved England when he was a young man and, when he married my mother, she converted catholicism. She died of cancer nearly 40 years ago and she had a humanist funeral.
From the age of 11 I attended a catholic boarding school and that experience taught me despise my religion. After my mother´s death I lost my faith entirely.
