Playing devils advocate : the temples allowed people to gather and exchange views . Also they took on projects using the combined strengths of the entire community. these lead to pyramids etc plus art and music. we WERE inspired by these tales of fantasy. Now we are inspired by science and money which are both very harsh and to some forbidding. next stage we have to rein in our govts and get them to work for us common folk once again then spend those couple of hours every week in collaboration instead of competition

some of the sculpture is to die for !! seville and wells cathedrals in particular. the vatican is quite something .bellini i think . almost real. but the best for me was the buddhist temple in bangkok the kings palace. wells was brill as the choir were singing the harvest song and the sun was shining through the stained glass. You can see how the powers held everyone's attention so long. have you read the pillars of the earth by follett. I'm a carpenter and could so relate to the idea of building such a thing with no true mechanical aid
