I have been mostly wwoofing for the last 12 years - in Ireland initially ( 2007 -2008 ), then I sailed to Spain and was there from November 2008 till October 2012 working on various organic farms ( also a little in France and Portugal ). Then, after sailing to Gran Canaria and 5 months of voluntary work renovating and living on an old steel sailing boat in Las Palmas Gran Canaria, I did some more wwooofing for four months on El Hierro - after this I had the opportunity to develop my own vegetable gardens and look after around 80 fruit trees in a secluded part of El Hierro over a period of around 2 years. I also busked on the tin-whistle and trumpet there, helped with some dry-stone construction projects and sold some of the fruit and veg from my garden at the local market and supermarket. In March/April 2016 I decided to leave Europe, and sailed from Gran Canaria to Trinidad (via Capo Verde) where I helped with two different organic agricultural projects ( see [wwoof-caribbean.org] and [helpx.net] ). I then took the ferry to Venezuela and from July 23rd 2016 to April 2018 i was living and volunteering on farms in South America - 3 months in las Amazonas de Venezuela), 3 months in Colombia ( en la zona de Cachipay, Anolaima, Florida, west of Bogota), 6 months in Ecuador, 6 months in Peru, 2 months in Brasil, another 7 months at the One Family Farm, Trinidad ( after sailing up from Joao Pessoa, Brasil ). I have been mostly single and celebate throughout my life but did have a wonderful relationship for a year in Spain 2011-2012... I love nature and living in the countriside, travelling slowly by land and sea, partly for environmental reasons but also because it's more fun ... I was brought up as a Catholic but have not followed any religion for the last 25 years though I do like some Bhuddist philosophies along with meditation and yoga. In my younger years I studied and graduated in Mathematics ( 1st class single honours M.A. from the University of Glasgow 1990 - 1994 ) and Applied Computing ( M.Sc. from the University of Dundee 1997 - 1998 ) and worked as an art/life-model for 4 years (at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee 1994-1998 )
