Just this guy, you know. Extra credit identifying that one.

You could describe me as a recovering Southern Baptist. Surprisingly, given my background, my politics tend toward progressive.

I am a vegetarian and don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. I'm not much into movies, but do enjoy live theater. I am a singer/songwriter, sometimes recording engineer, and also host a weekly open mic in Long Beach.

Other hobbies include law (I am not an attorney) and graphic arts.

Professionally, I have programmed computers, developed web sites, and developed and used cutting edge technology marketing.

Guess I'm just your basic 21st century Renaissance dude.

And as my late friend, Roz Larman, once told her radio audience, "All this, ladies, and he cooks, too."

If you haven't already read **In the Garden of the Beasts** by Erik Larson, I highly recommend it. It is a book about Germany from mid 1933 to the end of 1937 as seen through the eyes of William Dodd, the US Ambassador to Germany at that time, and his daughter, Martha. Warning: it can be a little scary.

Interesting but not as useful as it could be. It shows number of cases. Shannon called me Monday evening to check in/check up on how I was doing. She told me that Jay had just returned from Spring Break in Mexico. He called and said he would be over to see them in an hour or so. Shannon said that since he had been out of the country he would have to wait 14 days to see their 80 year old mother with heart issues. He said that she was his mother and he was coming to see her. Aunt Marilyn took the phone from Shannon, said, "Fourteen days," and hung up. The truly sad part of this is an inside Texas joke. Shannon's an Aggie and she's the smart one.

(If you disagree, you need to read their emails.) We wouldn’t be here now if the Electoral College had done the job they were created for. We wouldn’t be here now if, as noted, the Senate had shown the tiniest hint of integrity and respect for country over party. We wouldn’t be here now if Mike Pence would do his damned job and invoke the 25th Amendment. I believe that there just may be a reason that so much has gone wrong. The silver lining to this is that it is not only giving many people time to stop and think, but that it is also showing us just how much some things need to change.
