When the evidence came to light that Trump was so blatantly abusing his office, it forced Pelosi to change her mind regarding impeachment. It was the Republicans who turned it into a political event. Remember the Republicans who stormed the closed hearing? Half of them were authorized to be there. That was BS political theater at its worst. You can't let them justify not removing Trump for his crimes based on their politicizing of the process.

GinaMaria comments on Dec 20, 2019:
Wish that were true, but impeaching Pence would likely have to be initiated by someone else, since the removal of them both places Pelosi in the Oval Office.
mcgeo52 replies on Dec 26, 2019:
You are assuming Pelosi wants the job. There are at least two ways she could avoid it: 1) Let Pence pick a new VP before he gets removed. This nomination would have to be approved by both houses, so Pelosi could give the RTepublincs their choice of a name on the list, or it defaults to President Pelosi. If I were in Pelosi's shoes, I would try this for ther good of the country. Give them a Republican, but someone the Democrats can work with. The single name I would put on the list is Olympia Snowe. 2) Alternatively, she canstep aside as Speaker long enouigh to let someone else hold the job and become President. Interestingly, you don't have to be a member of the House to be elected Speaker. All you need is 118 votes. So, Mitch, would you rather have Hillary, Nancy, or Olympia as the next President?

@Barnie2years, I agree. That was one of the considerations when I started collecting at 65 instead of waiting until 67. Also, I would imagine that you just did a straight calculation of payments over time and did not include present value (i.e., include interest if the money was invested). In my case the over time calculation came out to 92+. With the present value calculation it was over 100. How far over 100 depended on the interest variable.

I've been reading all about this and trying to find case law but thus far, I'm not even able to figure out just what the FBI thinks they can do. mcgeo52 replies on Dec 24, 2019:
@SeaGreenEyez, if he was a federal official he could possibly be charged with 18 USC 201( b )( 2 ), the bribery statute that Trump has so blatantly violated. But that does not apply to state officials, so I don't see why the FBI is involved, unless Gov. Beshear is going after the Republican AG, too. The applicable state law is Kentucky Statute 521.020 – Bribery of public servant: ( 1 ) A person is guilty of bribery of a public servant when: ... ( b ) While a public servant, he solicits, accepts, or agrees to accept any pecuniary benefit upon an agreement or understanding that his vote, opinion, judgment, exercise of discretion, or other action as a public servant will thereby be influenced.
