@WilliamFleming, Trump has consistently pandered to the religious right, and they have embraced him, in spite of their professed belief in Christ. I am talking specifically about Jerry Falwell, Jr., Franklin Graham, Pat Robertson, and their ilk. They are the ones who appear to be waging the real war on Christianity. As for what we need in today's world, I would say we need someone who stands up to dictators rather than brown nose them. We need someone who understands who our allies are and does not go out of his way to alienate them. We need someone who understands that by pulling out of treaties for no reason other than he feels like it damages our reputation as a country. We need someone who has a clue about international economics, and doesn't shoot from the hip by imposing whatever tariffs he feels like without considering the consequences. We need someone who has actually read the Constitution and understands it, and that he has to work within its limits. We need someone who understands science, and how we can use it to hopefully survive as a species. We also need someone to unite us, not divide us. Trump isn't even close to what we need. I tried to support him when he first took office, but he has done far too much damage to my country for me to continue supporting him.

@St-Sinner, I read the CNN article you cited. Did you read it? Did you understand what you read? Let me lay it out for you: Bill Clinton had student deferments while at Georgetown and Oxford. That was not draft dodging. Upon returning from Oxford he applied for ROTC. If he had actually completed ROTC, he would have been a commissioned officer (Lieutenant) and served in the Army. That is not draft dodging. He decided that, rather than receive a deferment by participating in ROTC, he would simply wait to be drafted and withdrew his ROTC application in December 1969. I still don't see any draft dodging. The FACTS, according to the source you provided, show that Clinton was not a draft dodger. This has nothing to do with anybody's political views. These are the facts per your own source. Only rightwing nut jobs would argue otherwise. BTW, I am not a fanatic Clinton lover. As I have stated above: "As you probably know, I am no fan of Slick Willy and have publicly stated that one of the Dems biggest mistakes was not to vote to at least censure him for lying to a federal court under oath. If they had done that they would have held the moral high ground. Instead they let Bill drag them down." You, on the other hand seem determined to defend the criminal currently occupying the White House. If you want to be that stupid, that is your right, but this is not the place for it. Please take your ignorant trolling elsewhere.

Have you ever washed dishes in the campus cafeteria to pay your tuition? If you have never done that level of manual labor, STFU. You have no right to blow smoke. I have spent much of the last four decades working on computers. It pays one hell of a lot better than digging ditches, unloading box cars, or washing dishes. And the work is nowhere near as hard. Hell, it's more like playing a lot of the time. Why are you still trying to get anyone to buy the lie that "hard work is the key to the kingdom of capitalism"? Statistically the real key to the kingdom of capitalism is winning the genetic lottery and being born into a wealthy family. Silver medal goes to real estate investment. Bronze goes to inventors and entrepreneurs. Manual labor doesn't even finish the race.

After an hour or so he returns from lunch, dictates a few letters, handles a few more phone calls, then heads out for a game of golf. @Sticks48, you ask why none of the democracies copied our system? I would say that our system was never designed as democracy, but rather as a republic. The purpose of the government, in the views of the "founding fathers" was to protect them and their property rights, and not to extend those rights to others. And, yes, property rights included the right to own slaves. We have, over time, evolved into a democratic republic, but the government is still there as much to protect property as to protect human rights. A strong case can be made that it is being used to protect property over human rights. I believe it is time to change that. As for those other countries? They did not start by trying to protect the right to own slaves.

At this point in his term it would be counterproductive and a huge distraction. The House should concentrate on winning more seats in the up coming election and blowing up the republican senate.
mcgeo52 replies on Apr 27, 2019:
One way to blow up the Republican Senate is to hold hearings in the House to educate people as to all of Trump's crimes. Eventually there will be a loud enough call for impeachment that the House should draft and pass the Articles of Impeachment. The Republicans have 22 Senators up for re-election in 2020. They should have to go on the record on the question of voting to convict or acquit Trump. Timing this right will throw the entire Republican Party into disarray during the elections.

@silverotter11, I read a number of articles about 6103( f )(1). It was actually mentioned in Neal's letter to Commissioner Reggit. Then I started hearing that failure to abide by 6103 could be a serious felony. I eventually found an article that gave the actual 7214 section number. Once you have the Code (26) and the section (7214) it's stupid easy to Google 26 USC 7214 and get the text. If you try it, the best choice is the cornell.edu site. As for the trolling issue, I am really more concerned about what a time sink it will be responding to the stupidity. However, I just finished working on as response brief and may just find a few spare minutes. We'll see.

That is exactly why I say to wait until the Dems control the White House and then have the DoJ start by arresting the Senators who violated 7214( a )(3). Having replaced them, and sent that message to their replacements, impeach all of the judges who violated 7214( a )(3). At that point, some Senators might decide to be absent for the votes on impeachment of the judges, but I doubt any of them would be stupid enough to vote against it.

@chalupacabre, I disagree about little new to expose. What has the public seen of Trump's tax returns? What about his relationship with Deutsche Bank? What about the money laundering through his real estate? And on the collusion question, what has the public actually seen as far as Cambridge Analytica? What else did Mueller not even look at because of his extremely narrow interpretation of his charter? Then there should be a full hearing on Jeff Epstein and his connections with Trump, especially re: pedophilia. The Republicans will undoubtedly lose their shit, but they thought a BJ was worth an impeachment. These are all preliminary impeachment hearings.
