mcgeo52 comments on Apr 12, 2020:
Interesting but not as useful as it could be. It shows number of cases. That is actually number of confirmed cases, which number depends on number of people tested, and if tests are administered to the population at large or only to those already exhibiting symptoms. I don't mean to be morbid, but a map showing number of COVID-19 deaths would be far more useful.

Three weeks ago they were saying that we should track close to South Korea and be ok. Two weeks ago it was obvious we were tracking Italy’s numbers and will be in trouble. He then told me that by the end of this last week we had blown past Italy. Be ready for this to last a lot longer than the end of April. Stay safe. Stay well. Stay home. And wash your hands.

Shannon called me Monday evening to check in/check up on how I was doing. She told me that Jay had just returned from Spring Break in Mexico. He called and said he would be over to see them in an hour or so. Shannon said that since he had been out of the country he would have to wait 14 days to see their 80 year old mother with heart issues. He said that she was his mother and he was coming to see her. Aunt Marilyn took the phone from Shannon, said, "Fourteen days," and hung up. The truly sad part of this is an inside Texas joke. Shannon's an Aggie and she's the smart one.

(If you disagree, you need to read their emails.) We wouldn’t be here now if the Electoral College had done the job they were created for. We wouldn’t be here now if, as noted, the Senate had shown the tiniest hint of integrity and respect for country over party. We wouldn’t be here now if Mike Pence would do his damned job and invoke the 25th Amendment. I believe that there just may be a reason that so much has gone wrong. The silver lining to this is that it is not only giving many people time to stop and think, but that it is also showing us just how much some things need to change.
