Cuddle buddy
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Good grief, no. That's just creepy. I'll snuggle my cat or hug my housemates or something.
Is sports useful?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Playing or watching? There's plenty of use for playing sports, but I find watching them pointless.
What is the one creature, snake, spider, rodent, bat, etc, that creeps you out the most?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Hymenoptera. That's all stinging insects plus ants. They freak me the hell out. I've been known to run and scream.
What would you date a gamer? Why or why not
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I dated a gamer and hated the fact that I had to compete with her computer and console for her attention. And she wasn't as bad as some gamers I know, who let chores slide. It's not as though I hate games, I like them, but I don't like me or the house playing second fiddle to them.
Bad parenting: Paying for all your grown kids needs and wants.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Depends on the mental illness. No amount of cleaning oneself up and bla bla bootstraps is going to magically make someone with, say, Bipolar or OCD or schizophrenia the same kind of hireable as those who don't have such illnesses. Even clinical depression makes it insanely difficult when it's severe. Not everyone is as lucky as you were, either. On the rare occasion I even get an interview (despite having very neat handwriting, a resume typed out completely to spec, etc), I make sure my clothing, makeup, and hair are as respectable as physically possible. Doesn't make one fucking bit of difference. I'm still tossed aside. That said, I think people who aren't taking advice maybe need to take a look at their own minds and figure out /why/ they don't take advice.
What do you think of neoreligions?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
*Bene Gesserit. Eh, I'm fine with new religions as long as they don't try to convert me. They stay on their side and I stay on mine. I mean, I sometimes wonder if the First United Church of Cthulhu and the Esoteric Order of Dagon groups are being serious or not, but that's about as far as my curiosity goes.
As athiest, what charaties do you support?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Southern Poverty Law Center and The Humane Society are the only ones I can remember right now. I'm sure there are a bunch of local ones, too.
When did the practice of men not carrying a purse but a wallet start?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Maybe carry a messenger bag or wear a belt with pouches? The kind with, like, three or four--they look way better than fanny packs.
If it were possible, would you live on the moon or Mars?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
If it's terraformed. If not, no thanks.
Tell me something about your town/village/area.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I also live in the Pacific Northwest, in Tacoma, Washington, on the Puget Sound. Tacoma used to be a very polluted blue-collar town, and is still somewhat blue-collar, but is cleaning its waterways pretty well. The water pollution used to be so bad that the city was infamous for its smell, and Tacoma native Frank Herbert wrote the Dune series inspired by ecological extrapolations drawn from that pollution. It smells better, now, though it's not yet completely rid of the 'Tacoma Aroma.' It's seen a population explosion recently because of all the people who moved here to work in Seattle but can't afford to actually live there. It's got its problems, the infrastructure can't quite handle the influx of people, for example, but I still really like it here. Sure, it rains a lot, but I like rain. It's green all year round, and so many surfaces are covered in this emerald-coloured moss. The most striking feature is nearby Mt Rainier, which is an active but slumbering volcano. We're assured that it's so festooned with sensors that we'd know of any activity well in advance, so I'm not worried.
Is gingerism a thing?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I can sympathise--even though I don't have ginger hair I burn bright red within a couple minutes.
Why losing a dog can be harder than losing a relative or friend
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Losing my previous cat was like that, too. ?
How do you groom your downstairs? How do you prefer your partner?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Smooth and shiny! Feels cleaner to me.
Do you go by the amount of positive reviews when you make a purchase online?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Reviews factor into my decision, yes.
Is social anxiety a problem for anyone else?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 7, 2018:
Yup. I'm an extrovert with social anxiety, which is an exhausting conundrum.
What wrong assumptions do people frequently make of you?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 7, 2018:
That I'm unfriendly because of my grouchy-looking neutral face, mainly.
You give an inch .
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 7, 2018:
Were our mothers grown in the same vat? I cut mine off entirely, didn't go to her funeral when she died, and never looked back. It was my first lesson in removing toxic people from my life. I hope things get easier for you.
What makes a person a dog lover or cat lover or both?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 7, 2018:
I was attacked by a dog when I was little. I've never been attacked by a cat. Also, cats are quieter and less needy than dogs, which fits me better. In the end, though, neither is 'superior' to the other. It's just a question of which one fits you better.
Is it me or are some people especially kids preoccupied with cyber space ?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I'm sure they see what's around them just fine. Let's not be quasi-Luddites, here.
How do Americans view Canadians?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I kinda wish Canada would annex Washington state. I'd happily be a Canadian.
Why this need to pass on our genes?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
As a corrollary to this question, why is it that infertile women, when presented with the idea of adopting, so often whinge that it's 'not theirs'? That just pisses me off. I was adopted and went through, among other things, resentment from my mother that I wasn't 'hers.'. You MAKE it your kid in your mind. We aren't the kind of animals that abandon or mistreat young just because our scents don't match, you know.
Why this need to pass on our genes?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I wish I knew. The species isn't going to die out any time soon, after all.
Who here likes gardening?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
Totally OT, but I like the username. ?
Are you a good tipper?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
At least 20 percent, every time. Tipping used to be an indicator of satisfaction, but I can't, in good conscience, add any less than 20 percent, and if I see they're being overworked, I add more. I've worked shitty-paying jobs. I know what it's like.
Buzz Kill’s
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I had a similar experience with singing. I was pretty much told I'd never make it no matter how good my voice was because I was too fat and plain and didn't have any connexions. I lived in a small town, then a medium city, then another medium city and that apparently killed my chances, too.
Am I alone in having issues with understanding lyrics?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Nope. Misunderstanding lyrics is so common there's a word for it:. mondegreens. From the mishearing of 'They slew the Earl of Moray/and laid him on the green' to 'They slew the Earl of Moray/and Lady Mondegreen.' I was relieved to hear this was a thing when I learnt about it instead of my quarter-deaf ass forever getting things wrong.
I wasn't aware the acronym grew. [m.huffingtonpost.ca]

Does anyone else ever miss going to church sometimes?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
No, but I do miss having a community in physical space. It's slow going getting into groups in this area and I'm still sick right now--the isolation because of it is starting to get to me.
What are some “classic” movies that you think suck?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
I hated Clockwork Orange. Just one long string of edgelord nonsense and tryrealhardism in my opinion. I found Fight Club to be painfully boring, too.
What's been the best and worst part of your week thus far?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Best part? Roof over head, food, etc. Worst? Bronchitis. After an ear infection.
Hi friends.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Your boss outranks your co-workers. Besides, the hobby lobby guy is thieving trash. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire, much less go out of my way to hear anything he thinks he has to say.
Did you floss this morning?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Nope. Never do.
What kind of hat should we wear?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
? (Whups, finger slipped) Flowered bonnets? Fezzes? Berets?
So recently my girlfriend passed away.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Yes, because they /are/ profiting off other people's grief, which is reprehensible. I mean, if someone wants to consult a medium, that's their right, but one shouldn't charge a big sum and certainly should never parade such things on television.
Does it make you angry when someone gives all the credit to god for healing the ailing instead of ...
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Yes. It angers me a lot. It's a slap in the face to all the people who work so hard and give up so much.
You need to love yourself first to be able to create a good relationship. Do you agree?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
I don't agree at all. Like someone else mentioned, there's the point that this is terrible advice for someone with mental health issues that involve self-loathing. It's never something that's going to go away, no matter how much therapy and medication one engages in. It can be managed and worked around, but it's always there. There are plenty of people who don't love themselves, but are able to give love to others. Personally, I hate myself a lot of the time. But I have plenty of love for other people and I've found that if I own my emotions and am transparent and forthcoming about how it's my mental illness that makes me feel this way, it can be worked with, like any chronic illness. And when I'm in emotion mind and lose my ability to see these things, I hope that my partner can help me come back to self-awareness--again, like with any other chronic illness that flares up. Just as I would help them with any similar trouble. Relationships are work, remember. And there are enough obstacles. I prefer to tear this one down.
What are some of the things professing christians have done to irritate you and why did you find it ...
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
First, I'd be really irritated if someone just trundled up and turned off music I was listening to. That is just all the way through rude and out the other side. It's a line you don't cross, no matter who you are. As to believers, oh man, where do I start? ?
What does it take to quiet your mind?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
If I sit quietly I fall asleep. So I have to find my figurative zen while being active. I find weightlifting calms my mind. I think it's the counting and the fact that it's my body doing the work, not my brain.
Does something someone has done in one area of their life, negate something they've done in another?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
I see this all the time on the HP Lovecraft forum I'm in. He was a xenophobe from a very insular New England community in the early 20th century and some of the things he wrote are egregiously racist. However, he was also a genius and invented an entire genre of literature whose impact can be seen far and wide. As we become more and more able to dig up dirt on folks, I've come to a decision. Essentially every human being is a terrible person. Everyone has done something that someone, somewhere, is going to find offensive. Sometimes it's clear and obvious, like with Lovecraft. Other times, it's a matter of interpretation. But if I'm going to stop following the work of every person who did/said awful things, I would literally have to throw everything out. I have to draw a line and consider things like time period and severity of what they did/said. I will continue to read and positively discuss Lovecraft's fiction while acknowledging that his racism, while common for the time, is still inexcusable. However I will never knowingly watch anything involving Kevin Spacey ever again. These are just my examples, though.
MATH IS ABSOLUTE But is it really?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:

Little Free Libraries Are Turning Into Ground Zero for Religious Proselytizing – Friendly Atheist
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Blech. That's awful. That is very much not what LFLs are for. I think if I ran one I'd be out there every day, weeding it like some kind of book garden.
How do you do on this test?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:

How do you feel about people who just want to put people down, whether it's in opinions or ...
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Iiieeeee would be careful regarding any action further than calling them out unless they're slinging threats, but that's just my brainwave.
If you could go back in time to a time before your birth when and where would you go?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
I know I wouldn't try to change key moments. Any number of unpleasant things might happen. I would like to just find an interesting time period and observe it (though I hope I'd do a better job of it than those bald guys from Fringe), maybe the 1920s.
What's the age range of members?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
43. I'm okay with it.
What's the real issue that causes homelessness in America?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
In my opinion? Conservative pseudo-Xtians. Literally all the other causes, such as insufficient wage, mistreatment of minorities and the mentally ill, etc, can be laid squarely on their doorstep. They either cause it or perpetuate it.
What is your favorite creature of all time?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 5, 2018:
Tardigrade, aka Water Bear. Close second, axolotl.
From a couple years ago but funny.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Pfffff. He was never a Doctor Who fan. Otherwise he'd know the show was 'anti-biblical' since fuckin day one. Nineteen-sixty-fuckin-three. It has always espoused values diametrically opposed to his kind of blither. If he even watched the show, which I doubt, he probably didn't pay any attention at all save to ogle the companions. This came out really angry, but that poor excuse for a human being enrages me just by existing, like all his ilk. Also, Bill is one of the best things to happen to the show.

Do you love to hike?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
I don't hike, but that's only because nobody's found a way to do so while using a parasol. I'm one of those people who burns bright red in about five minutes, even with sunscreen. If I cover up with clothing, I overheat. Sad, really, because I like the outdoors.
What do you like to observe in nature?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Caves and rock formations. I always have a sense of awe inside of caves. I also really like rocks and stones and gems.
What's your zodiac sign ?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Cusp of Sagittarius/Capricorn. I am much more a Sagittarius--I'm terrible with money. ? Personally, I think it's fun. I mean, I also take those Harry Potter sorting quizzes (Slytherin represent, y0) but that doesn't mean I believe in that, either. It's just amusement, guys.
What would you do if the end was near?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
Find whoever's doing something about it and help in any way I can. It may be pointless, but I can't just hide.
What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without food?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 4, 2018:
I'm miserable even if I have to fast for a blood test or for surgery. I think I'd end up in jail if I tried to go longer than that.

There was a time when I never put my photograph up on a dating site or the internet.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
I am terrible at taking selfies and hate 99 percent of all pictures of me. I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder, so my brain makes me think I'm hideous--doesn't help that I was called ugly all through school. Unfortunately, I realise folks don't trust an account that hasn't got at least a semi-recent picture. ?
Are you a "touchy-feely" person? How about your family?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
If I know and like a person well enough, I hug and nudge and pat and lightly poke and kitty-paw at any moment. I love platonic touch. Just not snuggling, because I overheat.
Have you ever felt suicidal?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
I was when I lived with my parents. Once I moved out and weathered a breakdown I developed thanatophobia somewhere along the line and now completely avoid any suicidal ideation.
Grocery Shopping Habits Do you shop at a big box such as Walmart, a large chain grocery store, ...
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
I do most of my grocery shopping at chain groceries like Fred Meyer because they also offer discounts at their fuel pumps and I drive a lot. I know it's not the most ethical or this- or that-conscious and corporate bla bla bla. I have to pick my battles and it's not really the metaphorical hill I'm willing to die on. I usually buy store brand as it's less expensive, and unfortunately with this narcolepsy I don't have much energy for cooking so I buy more frozen dinners and whatnot than I ought.
Where do you normally get your news from.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:

What's a phrase you vehemently despise?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
'Wake up sheeple.'. UGH. First of all, why is it my responsibility to wake them up? Second, the smugness is fucking palpable.
:-( No joy.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 3, 2018:
Doctors look for simpler and more treatable diagnoses first. It's the old adage about hearing hoofbeats and looking for horses rather than zebras. Fibromyalgia is exceedingly difficult to Dx because the only measurable sign is the presence of hypersensitive nerve spots. The symptoms listed are nebulous and show up in a mile-long list of ailments. I think a differential diagnosis might be the way to go. I had that done and that's how they found I have narcolepsy.

Is it a truism that women enjoy intimacy more in sex and men enjoy the physical more?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
Nope. I like the physical as much as any guy would. ETA:. I agree with those who say women want more than just penetration, but I don't mean connexion and feelings and shit, I mean there's more to our bodies than just the vagina!
Does anyone shy away from using a company who promotes religious ideals?

The Antidote
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
If I'm sad, especially if I'm crying, I have some weed. A couple hits off a sativa vape and I'm able to think past my emotions. If I'm angry, I go to the gym and lift heavier than I usually do. That burns off the energy and calms me down.
What obsolete things did your mom try to teach you?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
The thing I remember most is being taught proper posture, with the whole balancing a book on my head thing. However, it has helped me avoid a lot of the back and lung problems the slouchers around me seem to have, so I guess it isn't completely useless.
Have you ever: lied to your parents?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
I kind of had to. My whole life was a big web of lies to stop my narcissistic mother bringing the whole house down around us.
With out any diplomatic answers,.
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
For a romantic relationship? Yes. Too young and I can't relate. I need intelligence and at least some kind of education in a partner. If they're from too different of a socioeconomic background, again, I can't relate. And even though I don't have any business having standards when it comes to looks, I can't completely do away with them.
Do you like country living? For those that do, did, ? Or want to
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 2, 2018:
I grew up in a remote area and although we had amenities it still took 15 to 30 minutes (depending on the weather) to get to anything even resembling a town. When it took 20 minutes for an ambulance to reach the house for what was thankfully a non-emergency, I decided I'd never live in the sticks again. Had it been an emergency I would have been dead by the time they got there. No fucking thanks.
Do you feel a division happening in this country?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 1, 2018:
There has been for a while, now. People are whittling down to smaller and smaller groups of 'us' versus larger and larger groups of 'them.'. It's only becoming obvious, now.
Does anyone still balance their checking account?
memorylikeasieve comments on Apr 1, 2018:
I used to. I was terrible at it, even with a calculator, as my dyscalculia caused me to sometimes input the numbers wrongly. Nowadays I do all my banking online, as my financial situation is too complicated for me to trust to my own brain. I know my limitations.
Which makes better art?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 31, 2018:
I would have to agree that so-called 'negative' origins make for art that I prefer. I don't want to see/hear/etc how in love somebody else is. That's just them bragging. Furthermore, I don't see these supposedly negative emotions as 'toxic' if it causes one to create.

What's your favorite insult?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
'You're so dense, light bends toward you.' I also like 'doorknob,' 'moron,' 'dunderhead,' and 'fuckwit.'
Anyone like Broadway musicals?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Love 'em. I was in a community theatre production of The Secret Garden, Evita, and A Chorus Line (all chorus), and did tech for Rent and costumes for Beauty and the Beast and Into The Woods. (I've also done chorus for a few Gilbert and Sullivan shows.) Since I moved I've fallen off of doing shows. Eventually I'll get back into it.
Just googled something in relation to a post someone has made here.

Are you patient?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
I'm pretty impatient a lot of the time. However, I'm also chronically late for things no matter what I do. When I do manage to leave the house quickly enough, I'm the person who ends up hitting every red light or gets lost. Plot my course to avoid getting lost? Google leads me a merry chase all over town to end up in the wrong location. Start early? There's a wreck on I-5. Start even earlier? Arrive on time, traipse all over the building, unable to find the room I'm looking for, end up late anyway. I've managed to be on time for appointments about nine times out of ten, but social things is where it falls down. But if people want to drop me because of it, it's their loss.
Who are your science heroes?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Of course, Sagan, Hawking, and Tyson. Tesla, Curie, Turing, Lamarr. Also Ada Lovelace, to whom computers owe a lot, and Michio Kaku, whose book made quantum physics understandable to a maths-impaired like me.

What are your reasons why life is not just about winning and losing?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Initial answer--to lose is to win and he who wins shall lose. Serious answer--I'm noncompetitive. I'd rather live my own life than constantly compare myself to others. I did that for ages and it got me no-where.
Sexuality Lables
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
It's only important in the general sense of whether I prefer men or women or both or neither. Anything more specific than that is just reductionist hair-splitting.
How important is it to you to have regular sexual activity for your health and happiness?
memorylikeasieve comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Not really, but only because I've managed to de-prioritise something that will never happen.
