nicknotes comments on Jan 26, 2020:
Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, In Galatians Paul is doing his best to give Jesus "a buildup." Had Paul known that Jesus was born of a virgin, Paul would have certainly used that to give Jesus a proper "build up." But he just wrote.., born of a woman, signifying Jesus was born like any other human. Paul doesn't seem to know anything about a virgin birth of Jesus. Read what Paul says at Romans 1:1-3 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; The word "seed" in verse three is "sperma" in Greek. I think you can figure out what Paul is saying. Paul is saying Jesus had a father who was a male descendant of King David and who impregnated Mary with his "sperma."

There were other kids there and I was talking to some kids I knew so the nun grabbed me pulled me out of the pew and dragged me over to a wooden statue of Jesus in the back of the church. She wanted me to apologize to Jesus and kiss the feet of the wooden statue. I said "NO!" She tried to force me down I my knees...I pushed her back....rewarded her with a few expletives....and ran out of the church and went home. Needless to say this created a big fight with my Mom....my father sided with me,,,,and I never went back to that church.

The God of the Bible treats women as second class citizens....we do not. The God of the Bible endorses a Monarchy....we are a Democracy. The God of the Bible endorses death for Homosexuals and Heretics....we do not. Why do Christians get threatened and terrified by Atheists?
nicknotes comments on Dec 29, 2019:
The Bible stories are so ridiculous that most Christians have doubts which they hide. They fear they may be following a fraud but yet are fearful that the Jesus story might just be true. They suffer from Cognitive dissonance. Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding conflicting ideas simultaneously. The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance.

Slaughter of Innocents In Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 2, verses 13-18, part of the Christmas Story is called ""the Slaughter of the Innocents" At verse 8, King Herod tells the Magi..... "Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him." But the Magi find Jesus, don't tell King Herod, and go home. When Herod realizes he has been duped, he is furious and gives the order to kill all the boys, two years old and under, who live in Bethlehem and its vicinity. But an angel appears to Joseph tells him to take Jesus to Egypt. """And [Jesus] was there [In Egypt] until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son"""(Matthew 2:15) The words spoken by the prophet, which Matthew claims were fulfilled at Matthew 2:15 are found at Hosea 11:1....... """When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.""" As you can clearly see, Matthew's supposed fulfillment is totally bogus. The complete verse Matthew quotes is not about Jesus or the Messiah, but is a verse about Israel being called out of Egypt during the time of Pharaoh. So King Herod slaughters all the innocent children under two years of age, and Matthew again quotes the OT to supposedly show that Scripture has been fulfilled. (Matthew 2:17-18) Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, """In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.""" The first problem with this supposed fulfillment is that Ramah is a town located about 5 miles North of Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is a town located about 5 miles South of Jerusalem. This quote isn't even about Bethlehem. I purposely mention Jerusalem, in case a Christian thinks that 10 miles from Bethlehem is still in the "vicinity." If all the innocents in Jerusalem, a city, were slaughtered it certainly would have made the news. As it was, there is absolutely no mention of this event by any Historian, not even the famous Jewish Historian, Josephus, who very carefully and completely wrote about King Herod. The next problem with this supposed fulfillment is that the woman weeping is Rachel, one of the wives of Jacob, the father of the 12 tribes of Israel. Bethlehem is in the tribal land allocated to the tribe of Judah. King David, was from the tribe of Judah, and had been born in Bethlehem. The problem is that Rachel was not the mother of Judah. Leah was the mother of Judah. If symbolically a woman was weeping ...

Of course modern Christianity has left the practices of the early church.

nicknotes comments on Dec 14, 2019:
In the 4th century CE, Eusebius, an important Bishop wrote a book called "Church History" The following quotations from Eusebius' book show that he recognized that the Bible was corrupted Eusebius The Church History Paul L. Maier (1999)     They have not been afraid to corrupt divine Scriptures, they have rescinded the rule of ancient faith, they have not known Christ, they ignore Scripture but search for a logic to support their atheism. If anyone challenges them with a passage from Scripture, they examine it to see if it can be turned into a conjunctive or disjunctive syllogism. Abandoning the holy Scripture of God, they study “geometry” [earth measurement], for they are from the earth and speak of the earth and do not know the One who comes from above. Some of them study the geometry of Euclid and revere Aristotle and Theophrastus, and some virtually worship Galen. In using the arts of unbelievers for their heresy, they corrupt the simple faith of the Scriptures and claim to have corrected them.   That I am not slandering them anyone will learn who compares their writings, which are in great discord, for those of Asclepiades do not agree with those of Theodotus. Many manuscripts are available because their disciples zealously made copies of their “corrected” –though really corrupted-texts. Nor do these agree with the texts of Hermophilus, while those of Apolloniades are not even consistent among themselves, earlier copies differing greatly from later ones subjected to a second corruption. This sinful impudence can hardly have been unknown to the copyists, who either do not believe the Scriptures were inspired by the Holy Spirit and are unbelievers or deem themselves wiser than the Holy Spirit and are possessed. They cannot deny their crime: the copies are in their own handwriting, they did not receive the Scriptures in this condition from their teachers, and they cannot produce originals from which they made their copies. Some have even found it unnecessary to emend the text but have simply rejected the Law and the Prophets, using a wicked, godless teaching to plunge into the lowest depths of destruction.
A lot of the arguments in support of the bible focus on the historical accuracy of the texts, then ...
nicknotes comments on Dec 14, 2019:
From the Catholic Encyclopedia....proof that the Vatican realizes the text was corrupted and we really have no idea what the original said. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01191a.htm The African bishops willingly allowed corrections to be made in a copy of the Sacred Scriptures, or even a reference, when necessary, to the Greek text. With some exceptions, it was the Septuagint text that prevailed, for the Old Testament, until the fourth century. In the case of the New, the manuscripts were of the western type. (See Bible, Canon.) On this basis there arose a variety of translations and interpretations. This well-established fact as to the existence of a number of versions of the Bible in Africa does not imply, however, that there was no one version more widely used and more generally received than the rest, i.e. the version which is found nearly complete in the works of St. Cyprian. Yet even this version was not without rivals. Apart from the discrepancies to be found in two quotations of the same text in the works of two different authors, and sometimes of the same author, we now know that of several books of Scripture there were versions wholly independent of each other. No fewer than three different versions of Daniel are to be found in use in Africa during the third century; in the middle of the fourth, the Donatist Tychonius uses and collates two versions of the Apocalypse.

In Matthew's Gospel, there is a passage, which contains several proofs that Matthew's Gospel is Fiction. Matthew 28:11-15 (New American Standard Bible) 11Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 12And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13and said, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.' 14"And if this should come to the governor's ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble." 15And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day. List of Proofs. Here is my list of proofs. 1) The Jewish Priests and Elders tell the guards to say "" 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep."" This is a ridiculous story to tell. Everyone knows that if the guards were asleep they would be unconscious and not know what happened. The ruling Jewish Sanhedrin was 71 members, seventy elders and the High Priest reputed to be amongst the wisest men. It is not believable that these very smart Jews would concoct such a dumb story. 2) In the Roman world, the penalty for sleeping while on guard duty was death. It is doubtful that even with a "good word" from the High Priest [Matthew 28:14] to the Roman Governor, he would have suspended the death sentence. It is not believable that the guards would have lied and said they were sleeping and subject themselves to the death penalty. Can't spend money if you're dead. 3) The Priests and Elders were very religious men. According to Jesus they were very careful about observing every point of the law, but were missing the spirit of the Law. Matthew 23:23-23-24 It is not believable that these religious men would suborn false witness and commit such a grave sin. 4)The Roman Governor would never believe such a dumb story ""'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep." One did not get to rule an entire country by being an idiot. 5) This conspiracy to tell this lie, that the disciples stole the body, involves, the guards, the Jewish leadership, and even the office of the Roman Governor. It is not believable that a conspiracy based on such a poor lie would have held together. But that is what Matthew asks his readers to believe. "And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day." Matthew 28:15 Matthew would have his readers believe the conspiracy lasted for years after the event. Not believable. 6) We have the witness of the four gospels. But only Matthew's gospel ...
So.

In Matthew Chapter 1, Matthew makes a serious error. In verse 17 Matthew tells us………””17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations”” But Matthew miscounts the generations. This is serious because God himself supposedly inspired the writing of the Gospel of Matthew. Lets take a look at Matthew’s counting skills……… Matthew 1 1The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2Abraham 1 begat Isaac; and Isaac 2 begat Jacob; and Jacob 3 begat Judas and his brethren; 3And Judas 4 begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares 5 begat Esrom; and Esrom 6 begat Aram; 4And Aram 7 begat Aminadab; and Aminadab 8 begat Naasson; and Naasson 9 begat Salmon; 5And Salmon 10 begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz 11 begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed 12 begat Jesse; 6And Jesse 13 begat David the king; and David 14 the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias; Well so far so good…..””17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations”” 7And Solomon 1 begat Roboam; and Roboam 2 begat Abia; and Abia 3 begat Asa; 8And Asa 4 begat Josaphat; and Josaphat 5 begat Joram; and Joram 6 begat Ozias; 9And Ozias 7 begat Joatham; and Joatham 8 begat Achaz; and Achaz 9 begat Ezekias; 10And Ezekias 10 begat Manasses; and Manasses 11 begat Amon; and Amon 12 begat Josias; 11And Josias 13 begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon: Oh Oh….Matthew miscounted……he only has 13 generations…”” and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations;”” 12And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias 1 begat Salathiel; and Salathiel 2 begat Zorobabel; 13And Zorobabel 3 begat Abiud; and Abiud 4 begat Eliakim; and Eliakim 5 begat Azor; 14And Azor 6 begat Sadoc; and Sadoc 7 begat Achim; and Achim 8 begat Eliud; 15And Eliud 9 begat Eleazar; and Eleazar 10 begat Matthan; and Matthan 11 begat Jacob; 16And Jacob 12 begat Joseph 13 the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus 14, who is called Christ. Well this time Matthew counts correctly to 14. I guess an accuracy level of 2 out of 3 times counting to 14 is good enough for Christians.
