Is medicine keeping up with Science?
nicknotes comments on Mar 29, 2018:
Here in the USA our population is growing older and is plagued by more degenerative diseases. Stem Cell research offered a great way to possibly cure degenerative disease. Unfortunately Under President Bush W he stopped all research on stem cells because the Christians believe it is against God's law. President Obama attempted to reinstitute stem cell research and was partially successful but the Christians kept sueing and getting injunctions to slow down the research. Medical Science has lost 16 years in the search for stem cell cures because of the crazy beliefs of Christians. If you have a degenerative disease like Alzheimers, or Diabetes, the Christians will be responsible for your death.

Why hasn't an efficient health care system been implemented?
nicknotes comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Affordable Health Care 1) Doctors pay over one hundred thousand in mal-practice premiums each year. Cap awards for mal-practice Tighten standards of evidence to prove mal-practice Try mal-practice cases before a 3 medical professional panel which can levy fines, make reasonable awards, and suspend licenses. Force doctors to lower fees since they are saving on insurance. 2) THE AMA limits the number of new doctors educated in USA. Stop this practice. More doctors will result in lower medical fees. 3) Lower the time limit on new drug protection for big pharma. Generics sooner will mean drug savings. 4) Doctors are locked into protocols to treat each disease. Allow more innovation of new techniques. Stop unnecessary tests mandated by a protocol. 5) Provide financial incentives for those that don't smoke, maintain healthy weight, don't use illegal drugs, and have normal blood pressure. Health Insurance companies are required to make a profit to satisfy their share holders. They also have high administrative costs. On the other hand, a Government plan doesn't need to make a profit. Our experience with Medicare demonstrates that the government has a much lower administrative cost than private health plans. So why don't we have Medicare for all? Only a Health Insurance Plan that covers all Americans can survive. As long as some poor people are not covered they will go to the Emergency Room when they are sick. The hospital will charge those with insurance more money to cover the cost of free care given to the poor. The insurance plan will then cover its extra costs by raising premiums. As you raise premiums more people will be unable to afford coverage and drop their insurance and go to the Emergency Room for care. This cycle will be a death spiral for health insurance. At any mal-practice trial, doctors dread being asked by a slick trial lawyer..."Did you perform XYZ test or procedure?" The insinuation is that had XYZ test or procedure been performed there may have been a different health outcome. This usually fools lay jurors but most likely will not fool a panel of medical professional judges. Right now doctors order useless and irrelevant tests and procedures to protect themselves from frivolous law suits and in turn drive up medical costs unnecessarily.

Morality?
nicknotes comments on Mar 25, 2018:
I always hear Christians speak about morality and hold the Bible up as the standard for morality. But is the Bible the standard of morality in our modern culture here in the USA? I say NO...the Bible is not our standard of morality. The God of the Bible endorsed slavery....we do not practice slavery. The God of the Bible endorsed genocide...we do not. The God of the Bible treats women as second class citizens....we do not. The God of the Bible endorses a Monarchy....we are a Democracy. The God of the Bible endorses death for Homosexuals and Heretics....we do not. The God of the Bible is prejudiced against the handicapped....we make every effort to accommodate the needs of the handicapped. I suppose if I thought a little more I would think of more immoral practices of the God of the Bible

I was reading, Why Women Need Freedom from Religion and came across this bible verse.
nicknotes comments on Mar 21, 2018:
The New Testament treats women as 2nd class citizens. Ephesians 5:22-24 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Romans 7:2 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 2 For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is living; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. 1 Timothy 2:11-14 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. 12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. Titus 2:3-5 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

The thing that bothers me about christianity is that most of it is centered around the afterlife.
nicknotes comments on Mar 21, 2018:
The amazing thing is that actually the Bible says there is no afterlife.... From Ecclesiates chapter 9 2 It is the same for all. There is one fate for the righteous and for the wicked; for the good, for the clean and for the unclean; for the man who offers a sacrifice and for the one who does not sacrifice. As the good man is, so is the sinner; as the swearer is, so is the one who [c]is afraid to swear. 3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all men. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead. 4 For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. 6 Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun.

No Virgin Birth Here One of the most ridiculous Christmas stories is found at Luke Chapter 2. 1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. 3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. In order to understand the scope of this ridiculous decree, we need to know that the word translated "world" , as in "all the WORLD should be taxed." is the exact same word translated "world" in the following verse; """And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the WORLD for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.""" So you can see that according to Luke, everyone in the world, or at least everyone in the Roman Empire, was to obey the decree of Caesar Augustus, and return to the city of his birth in order to be taxed. Think about how crazy this would be. Millions of people would be traveling many miles, perhaps some traveling hundreds or even a thousand miles, to get "home" during the month of December, the month with the fewest hours of daylight and cold weather. Then after registering for the tax, they would have to go back to where they now resided during the month of January the coldest month of the year. The people would have had to walk, or ride horses or donkeys or ride in wagons. Taking a ship to go home would have been dangerous as it says at Acts 27:9 , because December is after the "fast" or Day of Atonement, which is usually in October."""9Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,""" Acts 27:9 We live in a modern world with planes, trains, and automobiles, hotels and motels, fast food restaurants and electricity. We could do it. But imagine the primitive conditions 2000 years ago and you can see how ridiculous this idea is. Does this all seem like a ridiculous way to fabricate a Virgin Birth?
