I know about it and I hear about it. Do you understand that when one party has control of both houses of Congress, and the White House, and controls the Judiciary branch by appointing their conservative judges, the Democrats who are in the minority cannot even bring a bill on the floor. The justice department stopped filing cases of voter suppression, and stopped investigating police brutality and civil right violations by police departments since Jeff Session became Attorney General. Two Third of the states are run by Republicans and are also controlled by a republican majority legislature. This is your answer. The Democrats need everyone to vote, and unfortunately my black brothers and sisters do not show up all the time to vote. Everyone does not show up to vote. Until that changes the Democrats can only hope that people write about these things and read about them and hopefully that will energize them to vote.

The U.S. populous is not a well regulated militia. That was the original intent of that amendment because of the tyranny of the British royalty. A way to keep the government in check, so that their power does not corrupt absolutely. The state national guard has fulfilled the criteria for that aspect of the amendment, and has become the well regulated militia of the states. We have a love affair with guns, and that is a fact and it will never change. There are too many guns out there and it is past the point of no return. If law abiding citizens give up their guns only criminals and mentally ill people who wants guns to commit atrocities will get them. It is so easy to get a gun; legally and illegally now. People who claim that they need their guns to keep the government from taking over their lives will not be able to use a gun against a tank or a jet fighter or a nuclear bomb if the government turns on them.

I am not as trusting of everyone or as naive as I was when I was in my twenties. As I got older, I believe that I got wiser. I learned more throughout the years, My experiences contributed to my thinking and my actions now. I evaluate subjects more carefully before I act or respond to them. I don't assume that everyone can think and act rationally. As I get older, I have experience things and seen things and hopefully learned things that have made me a little bit wiser. I am still learning and hopefully will keep getting wiser.

Yes, I am also the eldest child. I am 7 & 8 and 11 years older than my siblings. I took care of my siblings from the age of eleven to help my mother who went to school at night and worked during the day. I learned to cook and I helped them with their homework and changed diapers. Yes it has impacted who I am today. When I was sixteen and started to drive, I took them to school and the movies, shopping etc... I did everything for them. I practically raised them.

Intelligent and open conversations are a good way to learn from each other, and to keep a dialogue going. When I was a kid and I was in Catholic school and was told that god killed all the first born of Egypt. Innocent kids that did nothing wrong. When someone tells you that it makes them uncomfortable and you refuse to stop, it is wrong. Making a pass at someone and the person turns you down, but refusing to accept no for an answer is wrong. Asking for sexual favors in order to get a job, to keep their job, or to get a promotion is wrong. Forcing someone to have sex with you is wrong. Black lives matter too(also). The too(also) is implied. It started as a way to bring attention to the high number of unarmed black men who are being killed by the police. Unfortunately some of the people who joined the movement are anti-police hating people and some racists. Blacks are treated differently than white by the police, and too many unarmed blacks are getting killed for simple traffic stops. Yes education and poverty is a big factor of black on black crimes. Also some police officers are just afraid of black people due to ignorance. They associate all black people with what they see on TV and, they have never had any kind of meaningful contact with a black person. They grew up without having a friend who is black. Some of those police officers should never have been hired and some nee to be better trained.

It is very hard for someone to leave an abuser. There was a post awhile back from a member who asked for advise about her situation. She was in an abusive relationship. A lot of us gave her some advise and I hope she was able to get out of that situation. Unfortunately she has not posted on this site since then. She is a level seven member who was very active here.. I worry that something may have gone wrong ,and I am hoping that she is safe and no longer in that household with her abuser.

I try to be respectful to everyone that I encounter and speak with. I stopped using profanity when I left the military. Growing up, no one used profanity in my house and after being in the Marines, I had to retrain myself when addressing others. I don't like the smell that the body produces when someone drinks alcohol. I never did. I got drunk once. When I was sixteen and I wanted to go out on New Year's eve, my mother said to me that if you want to have a party and drink, have it at home and I will supply you with all that you want to drink. She bought the alcohol and my cousins and I drank and acted like a fool. I got sick and my whole body ached and my joints were hurting and I got sick the next day. She told me that she wanted me to know the effects of alcohol on the body and since I was in College, she knew I would be around people that was going to drink, and that I might be pressured to drink and drive. I discovered that I could not metabolize alcohol, and drinking even a little bit causes my joints to hurt. I do not drink because of that.

If it was my child or family I would probably try to get to him also. I can understand why he did it. I have nephews and nieces that are like my own kids and since I do not have any kids of my own I tell my family if anyone does anything to them, let me handle it. I will gladly go to jail for taking care of the person who hurts them, because they need to be there to raise and provide for them.

When your significant other goes to strip clubs regularly because of "friends" is that a red flag?

As a guy, I can answer probably yes. If he has a significant other at home, his behind needs to be home. His friends can go by themselves and do whatever and jeopardize their own relationship. He may not be doing anything yet, but he will eventually, because something is not right in his mind when it comes to his home relationship.

I took my mom's car away from her because I did not want her to drive. She took a cab to my house early in the morning, and got in the car and drove it through the front porch of my neighbor's house. My brother, sister and I then took my mother's car keys away from her because she kept saying that she thinks that she will be better and will be able to drive soon. My cousin then came to Florida from New York, and took the car back with him Yes at a certain age they should be tested.

I only count on myself. I have never waited or counted on anyone to do anything for me including my own family. One exception was my mother, she taught me to be self reliant, but helped me when I needed it.
