If you could go back in time to a time before your birth when and where would you go?

@BufftonBeotch Not martyrdom so much, because Martin Luther King Jr was a passivist, but It could be any number of things from white power movements gaining more support or the impact that could have been lost on whites American consciousness. I don't have any way of measuring the effect of watching the aftermath of the murder committed by James Earl Ray on TV. I have to imagine many Americans who were willing to not get involved rethought their position after seeing just how evil it is to do nothing while white supremacist pushes back on equal rights laws. It could be however that by saving his life, you expedite a change in America and things get better quicker. I just don't know.

I don't disagree. We should have the right to end our lives in peace and without the stress involved with the legal ramifications for your loved ones. paul1967 replies on Apr 3, 2018:
You're right, it's nobodies business, and it's your decision. I'm going blind too but not from a tumor. I have to use a tool called Windows magnifier just to read and write on my computer. In less than five years I'll be legally blind, and in less than ten years I'll be without sight. That day will be incredibly painful for me because I live for the sunrise, it's my favorite time of the day. The anguish will be all the days leading up to that day, as every day it gets a little harder to see the morning sunrise. I'll have to settle for living for the sounds and smell of the morning. I think I'll push through my blind years though and wait for some other reason to end my days.

I was that person. You're talking about me. Prepare yourself because this is going to be pathetic, but I need to face it because it's true. My last girlfriend was using me for financial gains. She didn't love me or even like me all that much, but she sure had no problem asking me for money to pay for this or that. @idlopalev I have great sympathy for anyone who has invested themselves in a relationship and then later found out that all of that effort was for an individual who doesn't love you back or care enough about you to give you the respect that you deserve. I get that love can dissipate and I can deal with someone who fell out of love with me, but if you cheat on me and stay in the relationship, then that person has now crossed a line. That person is lying to me just to take advantage of my wasted efforts. I hope that didn't come across as too crazy, but I have been in a few relationships lately where I had no idea I was being cheated on and that feeling sucks! One was with her ex-husband, and I literally paid her lawyer bills to help her leave him after he cheated on her, just to find out that she had slept with him a few times after we were together and then came home to me for guilt sex. This is probably TMI....Sorry.

Do you use texting when you're in a fight with your significant other?
Sticks48 comments on Apr 3, 2018:
Texting has its place in a difference of opinion or an argument. It is easier to remain on topic, and keep it from devolving into 'Fuck You! Well fuck you too! No, fuck you!', and so on. :)
paul1967 replies on Apr 3, 2018:
Does it? I mean no disrespect but I see it the other way around. If I see the impact my words have on the other person I'm far more likely to back down. But, everyone is different, so maybe it's how it's done, I don't know.
Do you use texting when you're in a fight with your significant other?
MikaB comments on Apr 3, 2018:
No, but on some issues, I preferred email because in discussions, I'd get overwhelmed, unable to process all of the data, angles, etc, and/or I'd forget important points. With email, it'd give me time to read, and most importantly, ponder & process.
paul1967 replies on Apr 3, 2018:
I can see an advantage to that for sure. I can also see how it can drag out an issue over long periods of time and create its own problem. The disconnect that exists with text or email is with the loss of the visual and or auditory impact that our words have on that other person. We say things in texts/emails unaware of the other person's emotional, physical response and instead of backing down we plow forward quite unaware of how what we just said impacted the other person.

Are Atheist hateful towards spiritual people?

@GlyndonD When I spell Pinocchio I capitalize the name even though I don't believe in Pinocchio. If you choose to spell God as god I couldn't care less. I don't care what theists try and do. What they believe is their business and if they wish to believe in an all powerful and knowledgeable diety that's giving them eternal life then that's a delusion they need to work out. I fight back when I see them impossing their delusion on me or anyone else.

This question isn't designed as a judgment, I've never heard anyone call themselves a spiritual Atheist. Under my definition of "spiritual," that statement would be a contradiction. Again I'm not judging I'm just a curious person.

This question itself isn't designed to make that determination but I think it's a question worth considering.

paul1967 replies on Mar 26, 2018:
I did a lousy job of explaining what I'm asking in this post because I'm getting a lot of the same responses. I'm not referring to deception because I find that revolting. I was talking about more gracious behavioral changes. I've used these examples a lot replying to others people, but I was thinking of things like dressing nicer than you typically do. Or, smiling and laughing at something they said just to make them feel more comfortable even if I don't think it's all that funny.

@HoaryMarmot I could be wrong, or it might just be that I did a poor job of posting this. Or maybe you read it correctly, and that's just your response. What I was asking was, is it fake to dress a little nicer than you might typically or go places you might not usually go to, but you know she would. If you think back to your last date (whenever that was) did you act like you or were you perhaps a little more flirty and dressed a little bit nicer than you typically do?

paul1967 replies on Mar 26, 2018:
Understood. I think I wrote my post poorly. I seemed to have lead people to believe I meant to lie or act like a phony. I just meant, things like do you dress better than you typically would or smile and laugh more than you would. Those kinds of innocent flirty things many people do. The reason I asked the question in the first place had more to do with developing from a first date into something more long term.

Most people are attracted to confidence. If you're confident enough to be yourself, that'll show. If I'm out on a date with someone who is "trying too hard" it's a turn off.
paul1967 replies on Mar 26, 2018:
I'm not sure if it's a lack of confidence (maybe it is) I just never go on a date feeling unconfident. I'm entirely myself and sometimes, many times, it's me, not interested in dating her for many reasons. I don't know what I'm saying I guess it's just the process of dating. I think I'm just burned out meeting new people. I'm a one-woman guy, and I'm not unsocial, but I miss just hanging out at home making dinner with someone and kicking back on the couch or the balcony eating dinner and having fun. Things you just can't do on a first date.
